I just love scenes like this one & Dan's reaction is priceless, no wonder John Larrroquette won the Emmy for best supporting actor 4 years in a row, hell in my opinion he should have won for every year Night Court was on, he was that hilarious way before airline pilot Glen Quagmire, there was State assistant District Attroney Dan Fielding
Harry: Mr. Tuttle, I got one question for you. Do you, or do you not want to press charges? Tuttle: ... No. Harry: WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU JUST SAY THAT TO BEGIN WITH?! Tuttle: ... Well... Harry: Just as I thought! Case Dismissed! I feel for Judge Stone on this one
Do you have the clip where the guy comes out real slow and they said he has "turtle syndrome" or something like that? That episode left me with tears streaming down my face. I think Dan was trying to catch a plane or something.... Thanks for this posting though, it's funny. I used to love this show. And John Larroquette deserved every Emmy he won!
After this clip Dan winds up reading the next case incredibly fast to make it under the deadline and goes off to meet his date for the night only to find she's turned Dan down because she wants a man who takes his time with things. And winds up going home with Mr. Tuttle, or as Dan called him, "Skippy the Wonder Slug". John Larroquette was the best. It's a shame he never really did much after this.
now there were two episodes with slow people, this one ^ one from season 6 i believe the guy who walks real slow, Roz looked at him & asked say lightning where's the fire, (also he is also the guy from back to the future part two who asks did he take that guys wallet, when Biff got knocked out )
Agreed. There was another guy (maybe his son) who goes to pull out a card explaining his condition and reaches in the wrong pocket... "Other pocket..." THAT'S the one I want to find!! I seem to recall him wearing a turtleneck and tweed overcoat...
I went to school with a guy that really talked like that. It was sad. I never saw him past freshman year though. My first job was at Taco Bell and saw him once there. That was it. 8-20-21
+Mike Perry Judge Stone: well never heard of that one turtle guy: it's inherited Christine: your honor we like to call his father as a wittness Dan: WHAT!(old guy get's up real slow) Wait stop the State drop the charges your free (Dan looks at the guy) O K A Y.
@Doug Bohnet: I am looking for the Night Court clip where they bring an old lady into the courtroom, Mack tells Harry that she was arrested for stealing cat food & it goes something like this: Harry: Did you steal the cat food to feed your cat? Lady: No. Harry: Why'd you steal the cat food? Lady: To eat it. Harry: Why didn't you just steal real food? Lady: Because that'd be more... Harry: Pathetic?! Lady: Yea! Harry: Yep, get her outta here! Let me know if you can help me out. Thanks!
I think my favorite episode was in season eight. It was the Cross roads episode where everybody was telling about their lives, their turning point, before they went to work for Harry. My favorite one was of Dan while he was still in Louisiana, just starting out in his law career, and looked a little nerdy before getting seduced by Evangeline! I loved that episode!!
Why didn't they show the rest of the clip where Dan reads an indictment of a mob enforcer with about twenty felony charges in under a minute? That was the punch line of the whole scene!
One of the few scenes I remember growing up. Also on the list: God's name is Art / With friends like you, who needs enemas / Believe me, I am saluting / I tore the tags off my mattresses
I just don't understand how shows like this were ever popular. Hacky, cheap jokes, dry humor. Most 80s and 90s shows ran on the common, easy to read joke format. I saw every punchline before it happened. First word out that guys mouth and yep it's a whole bit about him talking slow and them wanting to get out of court. Only funny to people who like knock knock jokes.
I can appreciate your analysis. I think the "cutting edge" writing that we enjoy today on various platforms is due to the shift in culture and the varied outlets that have been made available to creators thanks to a decentralized internet. We have a LOT more voices and now just about anyone can have a stage if they choose. There is a saying that "nothing is new under the sun". There are only a few dozen jokes - and everything else is a variation on a theme. I was in my teens when this show aired, and now I look mostly back on it in nostalgia. I agree with you that some of these jokes are better than others - but the acting of the likes of John Larroquette and the dimensions it brought to "Dan Fielding" is just great. Sometimes, yo just got to enjoy a show for what it is.
@@LordFuzzy32 Wait so I wouldn't survive the 80s because I wouldn't be able to watch a TV show? Pretty low standards but alright. Did it take you 3 weeks to think of that? I don't like the show and that's my personal opinion, but as far as saying most of those shows had common, easy to follow joke formats; well that's called widening your demographic. You don't want complex jokes that take several episodes to unravel because viewers aren't going to be interested in that. You want easy repetitive jokes a large demographic can understand.
@@LordFuzzy32 Also the Kardashians are a bunch of boozing bumbling bimbos too caught up in their fake tits to realize no one who's actually important really gives a fuck about them.
@@videos4mydad I can definitely appreciate the acting in shows like this. I often think that post production and snobby producers end up ruining a lot of shows like these though.
I think the audience laughter was almost as funny as the sight gags. This show was absolutely hilarious and still is.
25 years later, and that decaf line still has me laugh out loud.
tubekxb do you mind explaining it this is part of the joke is hard to understand.
tubekxb For me it’s when he says “digress.”
He should've stuck with leaded coffee.
one of the best shows ever
Yes, I agree!
This show is still hysterical 😂🤣

he wanted to give others a chance at winning too.
I believe it was for seven years. Then he said he wanted to give others a chance to win. What a guy! No wonder everyone likes him. 😄
Larroquette said he asked not to be nominated after winning 4 in a row because he wanted to retire undefeated.
The guy was a natural hilarious! Too bad no comedy category for oscars!
IIRC, he actually removed himself from eligibility because he won so much...what's sad it alot of people now kinda forgot about how good he was.
This was one of my favorite episodes
Why am I seeing my life flashing before my eyes?
Suddenly, Zootopia's DMV isn't far off track,,,,
i miss this show
I feel for Judge Stone on this one
me too....I love when he said "I'll be brief"
DarkKnight84 RIP HARRY ANDERSON!
He was dumb for asking the last question. Just asking for it.
If i was harry the first thing i would have said case dismissed
ahh i remember this one watching it in Australia great show
This is truly rare comedy
'why am I seeing my life flash before my eyes.' LOL
this is one of my favorite episodes i saw this in 1991 in australia
I’ll admit, at least he thinks before he speaks.
Is this what would happen to Christopher Walken if he had a stroke?
Would happen? I thought he had a stroke and that's why he talks like that to begin with! 😂
"Why the hell didn't you say that to begin with?"
"Well....."
I've always wondered about Tuttle vs. The Tortoise Nervosa guy, lol
I think he was going to say, "Well, you didn't ask before, your honor."
This. Was. Hilarious!
I... know!
Love Night Court ❤ best show ever! big smile and two thumbs up 👍🏽👍🏽
Night Court is one of the Best T.V. Series ever!
Night Court also had great One Time guest stars too
yes they did

John Larroquette was the best. It's a shame he never really did much after this.
He got his own show after Night Court, The John Larroquette Show
Did you know he played one of the major supporting roles on The Librarians? Brilliant role!
Wasn’t he in the West Wing?
He had a lot of stuff after Night Court. In fact, he is involved in the reboot of this show.
You must not have brushed up on him in recent years
Tuttle and Tortoise Nervosa guy should get together and have a beer.

A debate

Zach Swarr That episode left me with tears streaming down my face.Dan's reaction to him is hillarious!
Zach Swarr That was a different episode. And the guy who played that character was Wesley Mann. He was in Back to the Future 2 as the CPR guy.
+Zach Swarr well this guy talked slowly, the other guy walked slowly as Judge Stone commented I presume this guy was not busted for purse snatching
+sha11235 yeah he was wasn't he , funny how you find out stuff like that, I guess I just didn't pay attention

Wow! My college roommate talked like that. Lol
This is not the turtle nervosa clip. In that one he says, "I have a card that explains my condition."
it's in my other pocket. haha.
"Wrongggg carrrrd."

They need to get that guy a quintuple espresso...

The quiet guy on the right is Blues-Rock guitarist Gerry McGee, also lead guitarist with The Ventures for many years.

ROTFLMAO 🤣😂😅🤣😂😅👍
Now *this* is comedy writing. Definitely a lost art.
I heard of "think before you talk," but that shouldn't have to apply to every single word. Apparently someone forgot to say that to Tuttle.
where can you get this?
Look up Tuttle clip on you tube
Harry : Mr Tuttle you have anything to say?
Actually reminds me of my dad.
I'm trying to find the one with the ghost story
Yeah Id like to at least like to know the episode with the 2nd slow talker.
Come on speedy. Name of episode. Even funnier than this one.
This and cheers, yeppers
Is Mr. Tuttle related to Reverend Jim?
That was the guy who played Ray the homeless guy on Barney Miller.
Why didn't they show the rest of the clip where Dan reads an indictment of a mob enforcer with about twenty felony charges in under a minute? That was the punch line of the whole scene!
It's on here. Look for Down to the Wire.
Mr. Tuttle Sir. Decaf.
Bob and Ray did a bit just like this. "Slow talkers of America".
Trying to stuff someone in a slot is pretty hilarious.
One of the few scenes I remember growing up. Also on the list: God's name is Art / With friends like you, who needs enemas / Believe me, I am saluting / I tore the tags off my mattresses
Reminds me of the sloth from Zootopia
This guy was funnier on Barney Miller as Ray
Mr. Tuttle looks like Roger Daltrey from The Who.
kind of

I’d be more than frustrated with his pace. I’d get in the next line if there was another line.
Sounds like DMV in Zootopia hahaha
Anyone else hear a bit of Jim Ignatowski here ?
So why were they so hell bent on finishing before midnight?
Was that the one where they had to get all cases done by midnight to win money for the nuns.
This was the episode where they had to clear a load of cases by midnight.
