    I lack motivation. When I do get motivated it’s at the wrong time. Mostly late at night when I see someone inspiring on yt or ig. But then in the morning my motivation is gone and after work I’m just so tired...

      ASDL what helped me is to START.
      I wasn't motivated, although i wanted to get toned and get stronger. one day I just started with mild exercise. The next day I just did it without thinking of it. the third day as well. etc. And I kept track of what I did each day

      I can empathize, as I’m the exact same. What helped me is realizing that action begets motivation, not the other way around. What also helped was to set short-term goals, like starting a program for a short period of time, like one week, and seeing what happens. If you hate it, you can stop after the one week. OR, you might really surprise yourself by wanting to keep going after that one week is over. Good luck, you can do it!

    10 - I would love to see content for absolute beginners, coming from years of not doing regular exercise I find myself getting injured or ridiculously sore when I begin even a simple program. I think focus on recovery, stretching and structure would help. Excited to see what you put out!

    As someone who lost 80 lbs in a SUPER unhealthy way then ended u gaining it back + some, number 5 was so important to understand when I started out again. I would work out 6-7 days, 3 hours a day. Which became extremely unsustainable once I moved out on my own. Now I do 5 days a week about an hour or an hour 30 mins, about 20lbs back down and actually enjoy/miss going to the gym. I've basically come to the mentality that I rather take 2 or 3 years to get a healthy weight than losing 100 lbs in 12 months and feeling incredibly burnt out.

    Definitely number 1... I struggle so much with keeping to my diet, and I think it's mostly due to living with my boyfriend who eats all kinds of food that I am not supposed to eat. Do you have any tips on keeping to a diet, keto for instance, when living with someone not following it? I don't really want potato chips, before I see them right in front of me.. which I do all the time! haha

    My biggest struggle is number 1. I have a history of binge eating sweets, when i start i can't stop eating them. I try not eating sweets for couple of days( i eat fruit, but not junk food sweets ) and then i start craving them so much. Please help me.😭

    • @vanefrutos
      @vanefrutos 6 років тому +16

      god, i used to have the same exact problem!! Somw of the things that helped me were:
      Not restrict myself too much with sweets. What i do is sometimes try to eat a little less during the day so at the end of the day a get myself a little treat and still make progress
      Try to find healthier altermatives. I love chocolate but it is really unhealthy so i switched to dark chocolate and cacao powder. You could even try flavored protein powders such as cookies or peanut butter (they are delicious!)
      Look for recepies in youtube for healthy sweet treats. There are TONS of them and every simgle one is delicious
      What i do right now and it has helped me a lot (this may work for me but maybe not for you) is to have my favorite sweet dessert friday nights. This helps me stay motivated during the week knowing i'll have a little prize at the end of the week
      And lastly dont beat yourself up just because of a slip up, just try to eat healthy 80% of the time!

      Lemon Dope behind my binge is always some negative emotion that causes me to eat sweets. My kinesiologist and i are trying to get rid of those emotions that make me fail over and over again. Sugar is bad cause it feeds precancerous cells and makes our body acidic.

    #9: Get your vitamin D level checked especially if you're dark skinned.
    Low D in the small intestine inhibits nutrient absorption from food and supplements even if you're consuming them.

    • @AnaGomez-tf5xi
      @AnaGomez-tf5xi 6 років тому +2

      Rach Kate I’m deficient in vitamin d 😓

    • @rachkate76
      @rachkate76 6 років тому +7

      Ana Gomez Same here- it's responsible for a lot of unexplainable aches and pains despite foam rolling, exercising etc.
      Get some ACTIVE Vitamin D3- the one that doesn't get wasted in conversion by the body before you can use it.
      (A bit like buying Ubiquinol instead of CoQ10 because it's already converted)
      Hope you feel better soon- some of us have to stay on Vitamin D and calcium for life because when your D is really low despite a lot of sun exposure, your body leeches calcium from your bones as a substitute.
      It's pretty insidious.

      im at a loss w. Post work out stretching and foam rolling and generally do some version of a push/pull/abs routine. Can you do a video on working out when you have adrenal issues seeing as HIIT can be harsh but is recommended everywhere

    • @rachkate76
      @rachkate76 6 років тому

      Shagana Siva Thomas Delauer did a video on it about a month ago. (Six Pack Abs)
      You don't have to do HIIT- slow intensity can be just as beneficial.

    I used to do soooo many of these things... Number 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9. But luckily I realized my mistakes maybe about a year ago now. I've been working out regularly since autumn 2015, but to be completely honest with you it wasn't until last year when I realized all my mistakes that I actually started progressing and gaining results from my workouts.
    I see people at the gym every time I go who never breaks a sweat, never look uncomfortable (uncomfortable in the right way, that is) with their training. I know I used to be like that, and it's an endless circle of wasting time. You're not getting anywhere with that.
    Even tho I already knew of my mistakes, I really appreciate this video! And I would totally love it if you make more videos like this. There's always room for improvement, for everybody, and I always really learn a lot from your videos!

  • @helsinkidoskee2941

    I definitely noticed that there is always room for improvement with my fitness and healthy lifestyle.

    Ufff I still remember my first day at the gym I was so exited that I forgot to stretch, I did really heavyweights and I end up hurting myself. It took me 2 weeks to recover from that leg injury -thanks good it was not that bad- so for everyone out there... less is better! you can always build it up to heavier weights 💕💪

    GURL! This video is perfect for me right now. I'm ramping up my fitness efforts and I feel like I'm slowing down. I've gotten much better at eating and being more honest.
    2 + 3 Urgh, I hate warmups and cooldowns. So boring. It's the flossing of fitness.
    I'm not the best with plans, I just know i do cardio 3x and weights 2x (upper + Lower). I don't keep track of anything.
    I used to reward myself with food, but now I'm getting a bit better.

    What is your take on group trainings? I enjoy going to group trainings (Toning/Nike Training Club Strength/Circuit Training) more than working out alone, but do you consider them as beneficial as following custom workout plans at the gym?

    definitely 1 (sometimes i forget to log something or leave out parts like too lazy to log the dash of cinmamon i put in my smoothie when i logged all 12 other ingredients)
    2. i don't to good warmups. usually just stretch for 10 minutes but its more like tge kind of stretch i should do to cool down. (but i do do this again after my workout plus sometimes foam rolling)
    4. i often don't have a plan or don't track what i do. But right now i am doing your 8wtc2.
    i guess 1 and 2 are my main things right now and previously 4 and 10.

    When it comes to fitness I struggle with getting into and staying in a routine particularly in the winter and fall time. As soon as it gets sunny and spring really starts I'm a lot better at it, I still fall out of routine in the end though. I think I let life get in the way to easily and when it comes down to it I don't find working out fun. I still want to do it though because I know it will benefit me not only physically but mentally. I need to make a scheduled and actually stick to it.

    I recently started going back to the gym. And even when I used to go regularly I realize there was so much I wasn’t doing correctly. Mine is lack of warm ups, im still not sure how to really foam roll. I just ordered one so when it comes I’ll see how that goes. Rewarding myself with food I’ve always done. Definitely need a replacement for that.

    Warming up and activation! I always struggle with this because I never know what is 'light' enough to be classed as warming up, if that makes sense? I also don't have a clue about activation, what moves actually active? Maybe a video(s) on how to activate each area before a workout could be good? My main areas would be the whole upper body, core(abs), and glutes.
    Thanks Rachel!

    1 is so funny! I’ve been tracking my food for about two weeks and I’ve been enjoying it - although it’s been rough to honestly log when I know I should have eaten a better meal, lying doesn’t help! My issue is definitely 4, not having an exercise plan. I’ve just started exercising & figuring out what I enjoy but you’re right - it’s hard to track progress when there’s no consistency.

    8- it's not one I do but I feel it's so important because I'm a skinny guy (I'm stronger than I look but I struggle actually putting on mass despite being strong or fast) and so therefore most of what I do diet and exercise wise is based around building more strength more muscle and diet is about making me lean. So I'll often see friends ask me for tips and what makes a "good food" or "should I be doing this?" at the gym and I try and explain I do this for me, because I know this is what I have to do. For you that'll be different and you need to look what's out there and make plans for that

    Guilty of #2, #3 (I often go to a yoga class often straight from weight session, and I consider it a stretch/cool down), #5 (I’ve become obsessed w/ spin, weights and yoga. I often combine 2 in a day - a weight and yoga, or spin then weight. Usually I end up taking 1 rest day a week). I’ve carried on this way for months. Sometimes I feel run down and when that happens I do take a break. I approach classes and exercise as a fun hobby, that makes me feel great, rather then a means to an end. It’s a lifestyle/hobby/habit at this point. Do you think it’s damaging to be active this often?

Also I realized I should push myself harder sometimes, so thanks for that xx

    Number 7!
    I have scoliosis (an s-shaped spine) which has left me terrified of pushing myself when working out abs. I've talked to doctors and they say that as long as I keep a good form, it shouldn't be any problem (actually it's good to work out and try and strenghten my core and back muscles) but I just can't seem to push myself. I would really love more videos on warming up and recovery though. Warm ups have always been my downfall because I've never been actually taught anything other than "just do like 50 jumping jacks or something". And I just love recovery (I reeeally want to get myself a foam roller to try)

    For number 6(i think) one of those things that will get me out and running is an app called Zombies, Run. Seriously, I couldn't sleep last night so I started playing and next thing I know I'm standing on top of a mountain looking down at my town at 3am with the midnight sun and absolute quiet and It. Was. Beautiful.

    Can you make some vids on quick, healthy but delicious meals on a slow cooker? I'm always on the go and looking for some great/new meals to make and the slow cooker is my best friend because it's so convenient. I'd really appreciate it! 🤗❤️

    Okay so I have a keto related question. I know that you are not keto anymore but you were great when you are in keto.
    Should I increase my fat percentage? Or should I just remove carbs and that is that it? I feel like Replacing carbs with fats is going to make me keep on weight or maybe gain weight. I tried to see it in your meal plans but I couldn’t get the answer.
    Also anyone who is keto here who can help me please just tell me. I want to really do it right.

    New research says stretching should be done as a workout alone, not before or after, because it doesn't help with muscle soreness and actually increases chance for micro-injuring the muscle you're stretching.

    #4, and not having a plan, not seeing actual results fucked me up in the head (I actually thought I might have a disease that prevented me from losing weight). So #4 is important. Which is kinda related to #7, as you said.

    #2 - I tend to want to get in the gym and go full beast mode and end up hurting myself. #3 -I wrap up my workout, grab my gym bag, then leave.

    Hi Rachel ! Hope your vacation are going well ! I have a question concerning going to the gym. If you want to gain muscle does the time of when you go to the is important ? Like going at night rather than in the morning

    #2 and #3, It's hard for me to find time between school and my full time job to workout but I find that I only have a few minutes to work out, so I tend to just jump into the workout and run out of the gym after I complete workout. Could you please post some quick warmups and recovery exercises?

    I struggle with injuries. I'm a "delicate" human, so I get injured just for walking, never while making exercise so I get really down about it, at the moment I have a tendinitis in my ankle and it's taking more days than the usual. Cause of this I find really difficult start all over again, I feel like everything that I achieve before it's worthless.

    No 5. If I stop I’ll quit. I do know how to pace it. I.e if I feel tired, I light walk and I stretch but I still try to go to the gym. If I have a day off, I’m really trying not to beat myself up about it. Same as if I have a shitty day eating. I’m like it’s okay, you’ll do better tomorrow. Forgiving myself is hard. Feel like I let my own self down

    Great Video as always! Eatrunlift seriously brought me to an other fitness level ❤ ... finally I got over Nr. 1 but I'm still bad with Nr. 3 and Nr. 5, resting and recovering is hard. I always wonder if going for power walks are rest or still a workout 🤔😅 ...
