As a Canadian, I have been led to believe that neither ketchup flavour nor "all-dressed" potato chips are available in the USA. Hence the excitement for these flavouirs.
I was going to go on about how they use sodium diacetate, which separates into sodium acetate (not sour) and acetic acid (sour), but apparently a lot of chips these days, including Old Dutch, primarily use a mixture of sodium acetate; acetic acid; maltodextrin, which absorbs the acetic acid that's liquid at room temperature; dried malt vinegar, for the flavor; and some selection of other, stronger, granular acids like citric acid and malic acid, for bite. Some still use sodium diacetate, but not usually on its own. And they do use salt, because sodium acetate isn't all the salty-tasting. So yes, Linda, they do have both salt and vinegar. Discuss.
Even though Old Dutch is American owned now it's one of the last old named potato chip brands. They still have some flavours in boxes. The best is the Onion and Garlic flavour.

I love Herr's Red Hot. Plate full of those and a couple slices of Italian bread and butter and I'm set for an evening of TV
Can we just have Brian talk about pickles and all the stuff you can do with said pickle? I never thought that I could enjoy someone talking about something so much!!!
spelled flavour with a "u"....i...i thought how it was supposed to be spelled, next thing you're going to tell me i've been spelling cheque wrong all these years
bearbusiness Yep most people spell it check.
I live in Canada and I have customers in the USA correct me when I spell things like 'colour' and 'cheque' lol. Some don't even know what 'cheque' is, one person got it confused with quiche
No no it's definitely cheque.
Fuck off its Check. And its color. Period you savage.
bearbusiness It’s the French spelling,since we’re bilingual.
I don't know why but the guy with the pretty redhead has a shirt that reminded me hard core of an exploded Dr. Seuss story and I'm here for it. Lol
Anyone else here from Winnipeg that enjoyed the little shout out? 😄
Yep.
yuppers , Nice when the Ture north gets a shoat out
It’s nice to see That we get recognition. I likes the reference to the Simpsons episode, too.
As someone from winnipeg who always screams at my kids "back to winnipeg" when we were in ireland I appreaciate one local got it
All Dressed, or as Canadians call it “Just mix up all the leftover coatings and run with it”.
I just finished my bag of Old Dutch Ketsup chips and some hangover Jameson's Scotch....... Hehe. Happy post Saint Paddddys day from Vancouver Canada! Don't hate on my Crisps! OD! "Bag drop"
*rubs a pickle against a face*
"off you go now"
That should be the first post on Brian's ASMR OnlyFans account
Jalapeno is by far my favorite flavor. When I go to upper peninsula I always get a couple bags. Haven't seen them below the bridge.
I would like some pictures of Dermot's feet please and thank you
spank bank baby
El Banco de Spanco.
What, you haven't seen his OnlyFans page? 😉👍
20$ same as downtown.
Whatever it is I'll double it if they have peanut butter smeared on them.
I grew up in Minnesota and we had Old Dutch there, too. The dill pickle flavor was the best, hands down!
It's from Minnesota, the company started there in the 1920's or 30's and first expanded not to another state, but to Canada in the 1950's.
I’m an indigenous person living in “Canada”...a Guinness and Miss. Vickies chips would be waaay better, eh? Try ‘em or get lost ya hoser 😂
PS
No one really says hoser either.
Old Dutch is so good that they don’t need commercials and Au Gratin is the best flavour.😋
I just smashed half a bag of ketchup chips. What up, from Toronto!
As a Canadian yeah I’ve never seen an advertisement for old Dutch but I’ve had them a ton. I personally love their ridged chips more I feel like they have more flavour but they are a good bang for your buck
Somebody make that man a peanut butter and pickle sandwich.
With mayo.
As a Canadian, I have been led to believe that neither ketchup flavour nor "all-dressed" potato chips are available in the USA. Hence the excitement for these flavouirs.
At the risk of sounding like Linda Richman, salt & vinegar chips have neither salt or vinegar on them (it's sodium acetate).
Discuss.
Oh my Goowad you coulda done that with the honey buns. It's neither a bun nor honey. Discuss!
This might explain why some flavored chips irritate my mouth
btw, Sodium acetate is the sodium salt of acetic acid, or vinegar
Discuss.
@@Vidchemy and sodium acetate is also what you get when you mix baking soda and vinegar. (Or is it sodium diacetate…)
Not all not all salt and vinegar chips are created equal
Something to look forward to during this lockdown is a bit of fun from Ireland on a regular basis.
Two Simpsons references in an episode. This Winnipeger approves!
Finally. It's about time. Im excited for this one.
Who could down vote the try channel? Ohhh, Must be the new Dutch
Even though Old Dutch is American owned now it's one of the last old named potato chip brands. They still have some flavours in boxes. The best is the Onion and Garlic flavour.
Old Dutch isn't the greatest for flavour but they'll do in a pinch lol
as a Nova Scotian, whose father works for Old dutch this was hilarious. i keep hearing how bland they are. I'm very intrigued to try Irish crisps sometime! love all of your videos!
Please watch Strange Brew, the Bob and Doug MacKenzie movie. You can do that self isolating. I think you’ll enjoy it.
It's a great movie!
Classic 👍👍
No way EH!
These hosers need to watch it on camera. And drink every time Bob or Doug drinks...
Drunken Irish people watch drunken Canadians!!! And eat jelly doughnuts.
Beauty EH!
@@michaelmacdonald334 if they do that they'll have to leak so bad they could taste it.
Ate these as a kid some 40-50 years ago. I dont remember ads for this. It was the basic chips on the store shelf. One step up from the in store brand. Ours came in a box with 2 bags inside the box. Fargo in the 70's
Oh you travel around Europe I'm old I'm Dutch LOL
Yay, I am in Winnipeg and my mom and her sister worked on the line at Old Dutch picking out the burned ones in the 40's or 50's. Also worked at the Nutty Club candy factory.
Least I ❤ you all or I wouldn't even bother watching this 😆 ❤ from Canada
The Try Family is the best
George, I'm sorry people write negative comments about you and Damon. You both are 2 of my favorite.
