Really interesting reaction - it helps me understand a lot better why I enjoy it much more now compared to first listen (the part you pointed out about the build up of the melodic scale). Thanks! Going to see her again tonight in Amsterdam and will listen out for this :)
You’re lucky!!! The build up part actually goes throughout which I didn’t speak about or pick up because it’s so subliminal. It’s actually the first thing we hear in the whole song. So compositionally, they used that as a part of the vocal melody (pre-chorus) to solidify it and make it a part which you can remember quite well. There are some other smart compositional tricks I didn’t explore as well which I’m just thinking about now as typing this
They had problems with the smoke machine as you can see in different parts of the performance, the smoke covered her and the screen just looked beige/brown.
Great analysis. Interesting to have someone analyse the different parts that holds it together. Subliminally we probably like these small melodies that re-appear in new songs again.
Yes dude! Finally someone who actually understands what this song is about! I'm a musician myself and just like you understand the copyright thing about ABBA at the start of Tattoo. That a song is vibe-wise and sound-wise inspired by another song isn't a rip off neither a copyright infringement. Both the chords and the notes for The Winner Takes It All are different from Tattoo. While the first part melody for the ABBA song starts low and goes upwards with the final note goes down again, the melody sequence for Tattoo starts high and goes down the scale with the final note goes up again. Tattoo is absolutely a grower and you're right about it's about expectations hearing it for the first time. It's not as direct "easy listening" as Euphoria, which btw Tattoo shouldn't be compared with for obvious reasons. The best part comes after the bridge when the song goes full power and there's a switch of chords and melody before the familiar sounding last "You're stuck on me like a tattoo" lyrics line. The build up and sublime arrangements is pop perfection and Loreen conveys the emotions of the song as only she can do. The staging enhances the song. At the end of the day Eurovision is about the whole package of song, staging and the live performance from the artists voice-wise and how the choreography is executed.
Something about Loreen going into the competition with this substandard song at this point in her career is a little sad. It would be like Shirley Temple wanting to go back into children's movies after her work with the UN.
This song I skipped through for Eurovision because it was lame. I can't believe it won. Norway or Finland or England should have won. Serbia, Austria, Australia, pretty much most of the entries were better than Sweden.
The way they play on her North African roots is sheer genius. It's still growing on me after no idea how many listens and I keep hearing new stuff without even trying. 💞 People seem to be actively looking for reasons to discredit her.
Love how ppl bring up copying w loreen but not any of the other contestants. Finland and norway both heavily took inspos from songs. Limited chords and combos lead to that.
No, I did too! Especially when it comes up on my Spotify list. I'm certain every time on the first notes that "oh this is frozen, oh noo-waiiit, right, loreen". Funny how you noticed it as well.
It's really a mix of plagiarisms : Abba's Winnner takes it all, Mika Newton's V plenu e Madonna's Frozen....maybe just the o-o-o is original.....or maybe not ? 🤣 But mixed, executed produced and sung extraordinary well.
There was fault in the lights/smoke at that performance, it was a much larger stadium than before, and yes the song gets better and better... STILL GREAT BY LOREEN!
I didn't like this at first. Had SO high expectations because of Euphoria being the best song to ever win ESC. Got disappointed the first time I heard and saw Tattoo. But it started growing and I started loving it after listening to it like 3-4 times. I like the build up and all the feelings that she express with both voice and body. Would love to see a reaction of Euphoria, the first song she won with. That's all about voice, movement, feeling and simplicity. There aren't many reactions since it won before reactions was a thing.

I loved her previous song Euphoria and that's why I got really disappointed when first hearing Tattoo. That's always the risk when you've done something extraordinary. Tattoo started growing after i've been listening some times. That was perfection ❤

Thank you for the musical insight, you could point out very well why I found this song extremely boring. Must be those simple 3-note mini patterns that took over everything, sometimes being hidden in the background, sometimes pushed into your face in a sequence, but it's always the same 3-note pattern. For me, it's like a pink sitcom or romcom film, where you can predict all the characters and their next movements and the whole story runs out to a common banal happy ending.
Yeh, try to tear her down , she is the winner in the end.. And She is communicating the godess she is Allat trapped in matter , in Kaba , but she is marrying the humanity in a hieros gamos, to prepare fot a shift in human mentality preparing us for leaving the planet, to live on other planets she is Ashera , Athiva , the grail Isis , and fully human and as a human she is limited as godess she is not, the matter matter in the matter. .
I heard all the songs (except for the one from my country) for the first time at the final and this really didn't stuck after hearing it once. For the "maybe someone who worked on ABBA" part for the melody. Unlikely, Benny and Björn write the music themselves and we'd surely know if they were on the team.
Can't believe this actually won. The music for the Finnish and Norwegian songs was better by far in my opinion. But I guess music is very subjective...
Calculated, done a million times before, delegation of professional song-writers behind it, mega-budget... Vs. Käärijä with 600€ initial budget for the performance in the Finnish qualification, singing in Finnish, home-made - and he was the most popular, 50% more of public votes than Sweden; The true winner
It's a fine song. The only thing that is annoying about it to me is the lyrics. Isn't 'It will come a day' and 'I don't care about them all' kind of bad/awkward English?
Ok.. I need to listen with this in mind! Thank you. I should really have heard that considering Frozen is probably unambiguously Madonna’s best song and I genuinely like it! I’ll investigate this further!

That makes no difference for the song itself he’s reviewing. For him it’s not abt the performance but the song itself. At ESC we now see NO SMOKE used at all

And it won Eurovision, I guess you can cope now
I liked how absolutely pointless your comment was.
Esta melodia é de 2006.
Stop digging
enjoy the moment
Calculated, done a million times before, delegation of professional song-writers behind it, mega-budget... Vs. Käärijä with 600€ initial budget for the performance in the Finnish qualification, singing in Finnish, home-made - and he was the most popular, 50% more of public votes than Sweden; The true winner
Chanel last year in Spain was the same story vs Tanxugueiras. 💔
Finland for the win !
This is a good song and this is a very bad opponent ot Finland, Käärijä...
She 's connected with God! Blessings from Belgium.
Well, you look like my son, supercute
It's a fine song. The only thing that is annoying about it to me is the lyrics. Isn't 'It will come a day' and 'I don't care about them all' kind of bad/awkward English?
It's so so so similar to a Ukrainian artist's song! Either plagiarised or anazibg coincidence
Also the opening first sound thing 0:30 is from another old hit, and singer’s melody is from Abba. No originality at all!!!
Buhu cry about it
you are right the melody is a rip of Abba.
I do really like this song but how about the instrumental breakdown being a rip off of Frozen by Madonna?
Ok.. I need to listen with this in mind! Thank you. I should really have heard that considering Frozen is probably unambiguously Madonna’s best song and I genuinely like it! I’ll investigate this further!
There was a ukrainian girl who accused this song to be plagiat sounds just like hers. I didnt think so when i listened to her song. I dont remember her name try see if you can find it here and see yourselves.
ua-cam.com/video/zs9dpJDci9g/v-deo.html says its plagiat.
Mika Newton: U Plenu. The melody of the chorus is note-by-note copied.
there must be something lighter than that structure above her...
It's a great song but not necessarily a winner - in comparison to the rest of the songs
It sounds the same cause in this genre really anything sounds the same
my problem with this is that it sounds like a light version of "euphoria"
It does not 😂
Swedens Queen 🥰❤
Like an aerobic workout. Very very boring.
not in tune on high notes
I think this sounds like a lame version of her winning song Euphoria
Like it's not bad at all but too similar in my opinion
We won! 🎉🎉🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪
Loreen is a great performer but the song rotates around a single melodic idea and ends by being boring. Exactly like last year's entry.
she won, keep crying
@@charliedixon6936 I am not a child. You, on the other hand...
@@idraote didn't ask old man
@@charliedixon6936 no, you just wrote a rude answer to a stranger's comment. Go troll elsewhere.
@@idraote still didn't ask
For me this song was flat
Finland is so much better. This is terrible act.. 👎
amazing artist, and not even a question on why she won! People being stuck up about that chachacha didn't win, which honestly was one of my LEAST favorite songs
Ahh, I see now. Chacha didn't deserve to win, because that was YOUR least favourite? Nice. How about people feeling cheated after paying for their votes but voting didn't count (as turned out later) because the jury gave Loreen ESC history's biggest headstart?
Rip you choose the worst video performance of the fog taking over the clip… Her official music video is literally her best live performance.
I recognised 😭 absolutely RIP
@@TheMuserResolute it’s fine, great that you discovered that in the end though
That makes no difference for the song itself he’s reviewing. For him it’s not abt the performance but the song itself. At ESC we now see NO SMOKE used at all
I need Finland to win, otherwise I die
I died
@@misssalome4795 rip, Im happy though😜😜🇸🇪🇸🇪
Bad and boring song. Pathetic lyrics. I miss Abba so much!
Hi. Sorry, but I absolutely don't like this speech and the song too. There is neither music, nor drive, variety, it is a very monotonous song. She only screams.
Sorry for my English ❤🙏
O problema é que não é uma música original como tem de ser neste concurso.
Nada com a música e menos ainda com a performance da cantora.😊
Não existe credibilidade nenhuma nesta Eurovision Contest! Very Sorry.
