This shows that a town isn't necessarily a group of businesses and homes. It's the people who make the town. My heart and prayers goes out to the families and friends who lost loved ones. I'm praying for everyone in this town including their pets.
Words can't describe the sorrow I feel for these folks. Can't imagine loosing everything you have and possibly a loved one to a storm like that.

Growing up in North Carolina, we'd hear of tornados and think, " at least we don't have to worry about that," but now, no one is safe from this kind of tragedy. A tornado went through here two weeks ago, but it was small and we were mostly lucky. One person did die. How does our country and our people recover, time and time again?

It's heartbreaking. My hometown in northern Montana had a tornado. Tornadoes can happen anywhere under the "right" conditions.

Hoping that eventually all the apartments will include tornado shelters. Right now all we have is go to the bathroom and cover your head. Many apartments don't even have closed hallways. It is all open staircases.
Yes! You are so right! Absolutely a must! All people need to take the watches and warnings very seriously! I always see people out and about, driving around in their cars, when they should be underground. We get plenty of notice. When we have tornado warnings, or I see it is getting close, my family and all my pets are in our basement where there are no windows. I leave my outside doors unlocked and I have told my neighborhood they are welcome to join us. Not everyone has a basement or shelter. We wear helmets, too.
@ashley_smith I agree. I read about a trailer park that had nowhere for people to go during bad storms. They had very little money. They bought an old, very large bus that didn't run and modified it so it could be accessed from the top. They dug a giant hole and had the bus lowered into the hole. They made a very large underground shelter that fit all the residents inside. I thought that was genius.
@@ashley_smith It would be nice if basements were to make a comeback in schools and commercial buildings as well. Most don't have any sort of shelter area that would be sufficient in a tornado as powerful as this one.

My heart and prayers are with all from Greenfield, Iowa. Being a fellow Iowan through and through the hearts core. I now live in Seattle,Wa but I never forgot or forget how I was raised or where I come from ( Des Moines ). I’m lost for words watching everything that’s going on unfold on social media! Iowans are tough and resilient. You will rebuild, move on and push through it all! God bless you all and may the Lord have mercy and grace on us all! Love you Iowa! Stay strong!
I was 5 years old in 1974. An Alabama tornado hit our town. My dad put me in the trunk of the car. It was all he could think to do. That was a bad year. I'm 55 and live in the north east to get away from tornado Alley .I'm so sad about these storms and loss of life. Be grateful for what you have.

GAH this is bringing back Joplin tornado PTSD. And May 22 is the 13th anniversary for Joplin. So sad for Greenfield. Until you actually see devastation in person, photos and videos don't do it justice.

If you haven’t lived in the Midwest rural areas and small towns you have no idea how they help each other, especially after reporters and government help leave so fast.
Warms my heart to hear this. The majority of people are inherently goodhearted. It's the click baity news that makes it seem that most are not. I've been through many hurricanes and even in the larger cities like miami, neighbors help neighbors. We always have and always will.

Their town was flattened by a tornado 2 years in a row. They may have help or advice in rebuilding. XO We are all praying for you.
This woman has done an excellent job conveying the loss of this devastating tornado hitting her town. Not easy to have a microphone stuck in your face when you are still reeling from the trauma of the event and learning people were killed. My heart goes out to her.

Just curios, when you are a very small town in the middle of Tornado alley why can’t build a community shelter to protect all of the residents in that area?
Many times there isn’t enough time to travel to a community shelter before the tornado touches down.

The weird thing about this is that the next town over from Greenfield is Winterset where 6 people died in December 2021 from a tornado.

In USA a lot of houses are built of wood and wood cannot stand against wood. A normal house build to withstand harsh winds should be mandatory in the tornado alley as it is called with a shelter underground so people can survive .

What is going to happen when the intensity of this "new normal" weather ramps up just a bit like this and also the frequency rumps up just a bit? The "climate change" doesn't have to be Hollywood level fantastic it just has to be just enough and just frequent enough. How long will insurance companies be able to survive fixing this type of thing? How long will people shoulder 100% of the risk on their own when it happens every year? Every few years? How is all this infrastructure going to be fixed every year or few years? Who pays for that? Is "first responding" going to be able to keep up with multiple disasters happening every other day/week/monthg across half the country? Who pays for that? Hope is the power going to stay on when near regular weather can wipe out substations like a snap of the fingers?
The MSM is NOT talking about the severe level of SERIOUS weather happening just in the last few weeks across the planet. China, Brazil. Poland, Germany, USA, Dubai, UK, etc etc. Mother Nature seems to have turned the dial to 11 folks.

We experienced this last week in houston tx as tornadoes 🌪️ tore thru our city. A month before that Oklahoma was hit real bad. What’s going on in America

The reason there are so many deaths (and injuries) is because this town barely had any warning before it took a direct hit. It's very heartbreaking.
Warnings can help a little sometimes but without a storm shelter you have to pray to not ever take a direct hit..prayers to all affected
