producer: can you memorize this?
violinist: sure, it's not too long
producer: and can you play it while walking?
violinist: um, sure, yeah
producer: and can you play it backward while walking backward, and vice versa (play it backward while walking forward)
violinist: .....
producer: and can you do a take where you walk forwards and play the whole thing forwards in sync with another take of you playing it backward, and then reverse the whole process again?
violinist: how much are you paying me for this?
Good script! However, it was a bit different in real life: the choreography was completely conceived by Shunske Sato. And then it was up to the producer to film and edit the footage in such a way that it would work.
@@bach hahaha that's awesome! I figured it probably went down that way; I was just amused by the possible scenario of it being explained to some musicians (like me) who would have to wrap their head around it!! Thanks for these videos; I've been following the All of Bach project since it began - it is truly a highlight of every week.
Moments like this make me think of Hofstadter's "Godel, Escher and Bach". He had this endless fascination with the Musical Offering. Constant focus on the sheet music and how the music traveled.
I laughed through the whole performance like a child. I've heard this work dozens of times, but never so well realized.
Masterfully performed, very clarifyingly represented, and perfectly edited. The quality of this channel's content is beyond belief. Much appreciated from Spain.
We love this particular performance practice by Master Sato.
My favorite part has to be when the parts meet in the middle. You can imagine how happy I was when the Satos passed themselves at center stage!
What an interesting way to portray the music...
Sato for one is incredible, for two magical. Beautiful.
Composition, performance, presentation, just everything is awesome here!
This channel does a great service to the composer, the musicians who perform his compositions, and to we who revel in listening such marvelous music!
It is so vivid to explain the structure of this piece by stepping backward.
total coolness 👍😎 thanks NBS 🎵
Wonderful feel from both musicians... You would almost think violin playing was easy!
A fantastic way of demonstrating the musical construction of JS Bach "Crab" cannon.... simply clever and original, bravo Sato!
Wow, impressing visualisation of the Krebsgang, the Möbius strip. Exquisite delightful performance with stellar phrasing, precision and dynamics. Class leading. Thank you!
I like the doubly connectedness of your vids: music and action that reflect the action of the music.
Brilliant! Innovative and 'playful' in presentation yet not taking away from the complexity of the music! NBS, you're the best...
Magnífico! ❤️
Magic ! Magique ! et Merci ! ♥

Genial Mtro Sato 💐
Desde Argentina 🎻🎹
Clever stuff. I was very glad they didn't collide when walking backwards towards each other!
GENIAL. GRACIAS MAESTRO SATO
Bravo!
That rare moment when show elements of the performance (walking back and forth, duplicating the soloist) only helps deliver the musical sense.
Great! Thank so much for this Great video production! I love this interpretation, this cinematography based in the Bach's music, THANK YOU!!!
I think this song is great when the weather is rainy. And make me calm❤
Truly, a masterpiece.
@@wolfgangamadeusmozart8293 Did you wrote all those symphonies, "Turkish marsch", piano sonatas? I love your music
@@yaroslavkaiuk380 Ah, Ja! But, for your information, little boy, Turkischer Marsch is part of Sonata No. 11!
I love Das Musikalisches Opfer, and the Canon Cancrizans impressed me at a young age. This take is hair-raisingly beautiful! A single thumbs-up button is insufficient. Thank you, NBS!
Oh Meister Dato you bring Joy to this world! Thank you!
Very original to make see the music flow by walking: first "recto" then "verso" and finally both.
Without words.
Wow, this channel is amazing! You really inspire me to try my best with violin.
I hope your channel grows a lot, you are so underrated! 🤍
I think Bach would make a video very similar to this, if he were a person of modern age. Mr. Sato and NBS tried to "visualize" this music as Bach would do. 👍👍👍
Great music and absolutely interesting description.
Absolutely amazing! Many thanks !
Was kan man sagen.
This, this pice of music is miraculous!!!!!!
Excellent
Also impressive performance that demonstrates in an artistic way this beautiful Bach's canon
Delightful!
Maravilhoso Mr. Shunske. Divino.
Meraviglioso, grazie!
Very beautiful🍃thank's NBS
Splendid innuendo to a secret key to the composition.
Fantastic!
So clever! Thank you!
Bravo
Stunning!!!
I could see Frederick actually arranging this performance in person. I don't know if he would, he loved Galant a little too much.
Perfect editing.
i love the panning on the two parts
Awesome 👏
Spectacular !
Incredible!
fantastic!
Amazing!
Great!
Bach visuals are good🎉
Congrats for 300k
Very nice ! = )
Genius!
Brilliant fun!
Jest troje drzwi.Muszą wejść Trzy Raki, aby pogadać z Bachem
Genious!
Musica delle sfere!
*Wat is dit Mooi!* 👁
That is insane!
Haha, brilliant! Needed to moment to figure out why Mr. Sato walks backwards, but of course it's the 'crab canon' :-)
You're in the concertgebow!
👏👏👏
Music is a game!
Ground breaking
Doooood… so brilliant… when’s the Moonwalk video?
Bach.
Bach.

Full of mystery

Suena como un Stradivarius
Here's a graphical score of the piece: ua-cam.com/video/b-0Tg8Y4VmQ/v-deo.html
Could you also make a video about playing the "canon a 2" with the music sheet turned upside down and using the "upside down" baritone key at the end of the score? :)
I think I never saw that part of the canon played.
👍!👍!👍!
❤❤❤👏👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷
It's his twin at it again!
Great performance! Maybe next time BWV 1023?
You guys could go really far with this sort of illustrative/symbolic way of framing and editing, for The Musical Offering as well as any number of other things-- even introducing more "dramatic" kinds of angles to, say, a cantata or something in a manner illustrative of the text or mood.
❤🌹🎼🎵🎶🌹🌼🌹🌼🌹
Who needs a twin brother when you can bilocate like Sato?
I wonder how it would sound if he played the backwards/forwards and horizontal inversions simultaneously?
Only our Dear Bach could have conceived of such things as this. Only him.
Haha very cute
how was he able to keep pace?
Any idea what font is used for your BACH logo? thanks
¿Es la cinta de Moebius?
I didn't know Sato had a twin...8-)
beautiful. But why this intro everytime? in each video
Where did this video record?
