Greek Island Hopping | Kalymnos Island Greece 4k 🇬🇷

One of those island tours when nothing goes according to plan... I planned to visit the castle in the old part of town and the beach Platis Yialos but I did not correctly estimate the distance as well as the pedestrian paths so that in the end it came down to a tour of the city of Kalymnos. But that's just one more reason to come back...

Kalymnos is a beautiful island in Greece that belongs to the Dodecanese Island group. It is located close to the Turkish mainland. The island is known for its rocky natural landscape and it houses several rock-climbing clubs, as well as an annual climbing festival1. In fact, it’s considered the climbing mecca of Greece.
In addition to its lovely scenery, Kalymnos boasts a long sponge-diving tradition1. Even though the islanders don’t fish sponges for a living anymore, you’ll find many sponge sellers at the beachfront of Porthia, the island’s capital1.
The best seaside resorts are located on the western side of the island. In Myrties, Kantouni, and Emporios, you’ll find many hotels, studios, and apartments1. These seaside resorts also have amazing organized beaches with crystal clear waters.
Some popular attractions on the island include Platis Yialos Beach, N S Papachatzis Sponge Factory, Masouri, Traditional Kalymnian House, and the Archaeological Museum of Kalymnos.
The fastest way to get there is to fly to Kalymnos airport from Athens. Alternatively, you can get there from Piraeus port in Athens. Kalymnos is also connected to Rhodes island.
