I'm doing the turkey commander of the coast guard commander in one of the six boats. I've been working at sea for 20 years. I came across this boat with the most complex navigation systems I've ever seen in my life. the boat sailing is excellent. but the navigation systems are a complete disaster. you are never safe at sea. the damn is not doing anything about it

Not impressed, having to recover casualties through water highly disturbed by the jets, didn't see it in a big following sea either.

The jets draw water in via an intake under the hull. Water is sucked through this and out of the jet. When the vessel wants to remain on station, or not move ahead or astern, the water coming out of the jets is directed downwards to achieve zero motion, this disturbs and aerates the water the casualty is being recovered through. This can be solved by disengaging the gearbox, but that leaves you without drive. Fine in calm seas, but not brilliant when its rough.

@@paulmahy wrong, jets gives a boat alot more maneuverability compared to simple propellers, the dutch KNRM has been using this with great succes, when we save people in the water we slowly approach the victim on the side and pick them out of the water, this means if te victim for some reason doesnt grt picked up and has been passed, well only need to reverse with little power which doesnt really affect the waters to much, and the water that is being directed to the front doesnt create a wake that if the casualty is in that stream that they can drown, now i will still agree with you that this 1816 boat is a pile of junk, only thing its good at is going directly through breakers
