This is seriously good information we tend to jump these stages well I did but I had to return because my bass wasn’t steady or my melody was all over the place so back to the drawing board !! This is much appreciated thanks my man !! Brian 🇮🇪🇮🇪🎸🎸
You are very welcome Brian! It is easy to go too fast and skip steps, or move on too quickly from one step to the next, so good for you to realise this and do something about it :)
Luv you teaching style-- I have done a lot of videos about Travis picking- I have tried everyday for a month and cannot separate fingers from thumb- done all exercises over and over but when it comes down to paying a song I just can’t do it- any suggestions.
Glad you like the video Ed! Can you give me a little more information/detail about what you mean by you cannot separate your fingers form your thumb? And by "when it comes down to playing a song I just can't do it", what is it you cannot do? What is the technical level of the song? If you are trying to go from this video into a full blown Travis Picking Arrangement within a month, that is not realistic and you are skipping steps in between needed to get to that level of playing :) The more information you can provide me Ed, the better I can help you :)
Thank u so much for responding..I have done lot of exercises with just doing base line and a lot of Travis picking patterns with fingering and base line but when it comes to playing
Yes, make sure you take tiny steps and don't try and add a layer of challenge to what it is you are doing until you can do that thing, if that makes sense. Try recording yourself when you practice, fly on the wall stuff, and listen back. If you are hearing a lot of repeated mistakes, you are not playing slow enough and are possibly trying to too much at once :)

Almost sounds like dark side of the moon at around 8:00
@fleadoggreen9062, haha, I wouldn't have thought of that, but can hear what you mean. I assume you are referring to the track "Brain Damage"
