The problem with that is puberty blockers are used for children who go into puberty too early at too young an age, but they are not used over long term.
It‘s called precocious puberty, and even in this instance it is being used less and only in severe cases because of the damage these blockers cause. Originally, GnRH analogs were used in prostate cancer treatment, a cancer where long term consequences of drugs are negligible because most patients die rather quickly.

Puberty blockers do just that. Most kids who start puberty blockers will eventually decide not to continue with their transition. The treatment is stopped and for the vast majority, they will go through puberty and live their lives as the sex they were at birth. A few though do decide that transition is the right thing for them. Puberty blockers give the children, their doctors and parents time to assess how they really feel and make an informed decision. This is a good thing.

It is unknown the full extent of the effects on brain development. Further evidence is the fact that children who have their puberty blocked to not develop adult sized genitalia. This has meant later surgeries to create replica external genitalia of the opposite sex is very complicated and the techniques are highly experimental with even higher levels of serious complication and lifelong implications for adult sexual function. So Streeting decides to ignore the lack of evidence of harm from the use of puberty blockers and the clear evidence of harm caused by restricting trans affirming care?

Unfortunately there is evidence that puberty blockers are not fully reversible and do cause damage. The majority of our bone density is laid down during puberty. Block puberty and it inhibits bone density development leading to weak bones. Current evidence is showing that this does not recover to levels when natural puberty occurs. The Head of WPATH Marcie Bowers is on video footage sharing that no child administered puberty blockers before Tanner Stage 2 of puberty ever experiences orgasm, yet this was omitted from their latest guidance. It is unknown the full extent of the effects on brain development. Further evidence is the fact that children who have their puberty blocked to not develop adult sized genitalia. This has meant later surgeries to create replica external genitalia of the opposite sex is very complicated and the techniques are highly experimental with even higher levels of serious complication and lifelong implications for adult sexual function.
