Great, great work Sandy!! It's this kind of spirit that draws me back to New Orleans time and time again! There's an easy, laid-back "sticktuitiveness" there that sweetly drawls, "Count me out at your peril, Cher' - you'd be surprised at what we can do." By the way, "How 'bout dem Saints??" ;-) @CrescentCityRay..."Mass homicide due to negligence by the US Army Corps of Engineers -Why do they get a pass on that? " Because our governmental agencies tend to be allowed to.
Thanks Sandy, for your persistent struggle to educate everyone to the truth of the destruction of New Orleans by flooding due to poor construction of levees by the Corp of Engineers and their subcontractors. They are still doing shoddy work.
What else can we do? Certainly the time has come for some to actually be accountable for this.... Please continue the work but also let the average citizen know, what can we do? So many lost, so much destruction and a national treasure like our city having to fight for semantics? Thanks for your passion and New Orleans will live through this... I know I did, even though I thought I wouldn't!
If the STATE is not responsible for building and maintenance of the levees, how could it reallocate the money? Sounds like you're throwing some stuff out there to see if it sticks. What was this "certain storm stage"? What storm exceeded it?
Now we have a federal judge ruling (on Nov. 18) that the Army Corps of Engineers was responsible for the disastrous flooding of New Orleans. I'm looking forward to the video on that! But this is a good start, and should be broadcast on network news. Let's hold the Feds accountable for their mess! And let's get competent engineers to rebuild the city's levees - now.
Shame is felt when you know you're wrong... I imagine they really think they are justified and I? do not think they can be convinced otherwise, the rest of us "just don't understand", so the legal system is the only recourse.
Please let's not repeat myths. Federal monies can be spent only by your Army Corps of Engineers on the design and construction of levees in New Orleans per the flood control act of 1965.
kentsjolund, please learn the facts before posting the corps of engineers' propaganda. The "STATE" does not have the power to reallocate the corps' money. Only the federal government via its Army Corps of Engineers can decide how its money is spent. The levees, are by law, controlled by the federal government, not the state or local authorities. The corps has worked hard to get people to believe otherwise, and to shift the blame onto the state. This is false propaganda.

Thanks you Sandy for not giving up. :)

The levees were blown purposely to save downtown. Period.

This is a good step forward in getting the Corps of Engineers to accept responsibility, and right this wrong!

I donated my 88 Firebird there - now I think the government owes me...

PROGRESS !!!
The Corps of Engineers should be hanging their heads in shame. Are they? I don't think so.
Corp of Engineers....shame on you!
Hey tell it like it is they can't handle the truth so they blame Katrina...
