My 2014 Ford Escape at least had a button on the shifter to change gears. It wasn't good, but you could at least tell the transmission what to do. No shifting options in a Mustang is just crazy.

There’s are things I like and don’t like about my 2024 ecoboost. I love the driving experience since it suits my needs and puts a smile on me every time I drive and I like the overall look of the car which is a hit or miss I know for people. The things I don’t like is 95% of everything you need to access like AC/heat is on the touchscreen dash and there’s been numerous times I will start my car and the middle dash doesn’t come active for a few moments which means no back camera and can’t control volume or anything on the screen unless you wait a few moments or restart the vehicle. Another issue that I have is it likes to disconnect from my phone a lot and I’ve never had it happen in any other vehicles and it does suck when I’m driving listening to a banger song just for it to lag all over and eventually nothing is playing. The black bar that separate the screens also somewhat annoys me like why not fully complete it and the dash computer does get hot I’ve noticed which I wonder since Saleen made a cover system for their 2024 model if there will be versions to install in the ecoboost.
So much hate on this car! I just picked mine up (this exact model, down to the color) recently and I love it! I’m not planning on racing, but I’m more than happy it can go fast if I want. I could’ve gotten the GT, but that cars too expensive to just have the base model and it eat more gas. The price of the base GT is the same as the ecoboost premium, in yellow, with legit anything and everything you want to add extra…well worth it over the GT To each their own of course
FOLKS (and @TheTopher), just a PSA to everyone, Ford has moved the 6-speed manual transmissions and paddle shifters to the higher trim levels. This Ecoboost Premium is closer to their base level/low-end trim. That's why it lacks paddles and/or a stick shift. The GT Fastback and up (including Dark Horse) have stick shifts available. I'm guessing it's a bit of an acknowledgement by Ford that the people buying *new* cars with stick shifts in North America are almost entirely enthusiasts that already want a more powerful engine with a stick shift.

Might be cool if they make a dark horse but for EcoBoost instead of leather seats and 3 same-sounding exhaust options.
The s550 ecoboost high performance pack with brembos, 330 hp, Recaro seats, everything lightly used is like 30k right now. Idk why anyone on earth would get this
im just here to thank everyone whos a v8 hardo who drives down the price of the eco. just got my eco premium for 36k while those fools are paying between 50-65 for a gt. car is phenomenal
The paddles are fun, but coming from someone with 3 different mid range price cars with paddle shifters, they always suck unless it’s a track built car with racing tuned paddles.
Its been a year and i still CANNOT like this new s650. The s550 was the greatest all around mustang ever created and it will never be the same. So glad i got mine while i could and sticking with it. Looks so much better both inside and out, more options like the high performancd pack, etc
Does the new mustang have the same 10 speed auto transmission than the mustang 10 speed before from technic side? Or is the a new developed transmission with faster gear shifts?
I drive a LT1 10-speed. Personally i think the paddle shifters are kind of useless because its just way too many gears to shift between. Also they arent nearly as responsive as a Dual Clutch or even the ZF8 speed. The Camaro does have a good calibration of the trans in sport mode so personally I almost never use the paddle shifters except when i need to upshift after going WOT. I agree it should have them standard but I dont think its a huge deal. Low mode seems to keep revs at 3-4K rpms which is perfect.
The paddle shifters are great for downshifting because the 10 speeds tend to sit at the wrong (higher) gear a lot. Downshifting to accelerate is a must if you want to be in the right powerband.
@@raneer_6567 why would you need that in normal driving? I understand if you track the car but in normal driving flooring the gas pedal is quicker than down shifting manually with gears. In sport mode my Camaro will obviously try to get to the highest gear when I'm done accelerating lol. If you need to accelerate just press the gas pedal. The 10 speed downshifts quick enough. Also as he showed in the video low mode or whatever keeps the rpms around 3-4K which is perfect
@@raneer_6567 also upshifting with the paddles are slower anyway. That's the main reason I don't care to use them. Nice to have but dunno if it's really a deal breaker. It's stupid that Ford didn't put them as standard but again it's an Ecoboost and most people are cruising
@@ayushmalpeddi2793 I've had plenty of times when I needed to downshift to pass somebody or to make a turn because the car was in way too high of a gear. If you're cruising in regular drive mode at 40 mph in 10th gear and you need to overtake someone, it's quicker to downshift yourself to pass someone than to wait for the car to do it.
Faster? No. The 2024 315 HP engine is the fastest ecoboost engine ever developed. More fun? Why? You can get paddle shifters with the performance package on the 2024. Car and Driver mag hit 4.5 seconds 0-60 mph with this car, their fastest time ever for an ecoboost Stang..
@@F7RIZI Internet says your car has 330 hp stock. I wonder why the hp on the 2024 didn't go up with the pp added? Weird. @@fooballyoubecause the S550 HPP was derived from the Focus RS turbo and heads. It had a much flatter torque curve than the regular EB but also used a lot more fuel. It was the best Ecoboost Mustang they ever made, but it still not as good as the GT. I owned both, and the fuel economy is very similar. It was decently quick, but past 70 mph the GT will keep pulling hard and the HPP starts to fade. And it sounds terrible compared to the Coyote.

It's a shame they took away the paddles on the normal trims, the only way to get them now is by going with the performance pack, which just makes it less of a value and more of a reason to get a GT
For a car like this paddle shifter should be standard. The way Ford configured this thing makes the base Mustang a rental cruiser and not a sport GT car.
I think anyone would be incredibly stupid to buy a new ecoboost at all. Most any new 4cyl has better features for that price. Manual, paddle shifters, better infotainment, better speed, and better mpg

You have to love 4cyl too much to purchase it for 40k+. I think the premium EcoBoost should be a more dedicated track car. Might be cool if they make a dark horse but for EcoBoost instead of leather seats and 3 same-sounding exhaust options.
The s550 ecoboost high performance pack with brembos, 330 hp, Recaro seats, everything lightly used is like 30k right now. Idk why anyone on earth would get this
Topher you live a great life man 💯
The east Indians in Canada are gonna eat this right up!
im just here to thank everyone whos a v8 hardo who drives down the price of the eco. just got my eco premium for 36k while those fools are paying between 50-65 for a gt. car is phenomenal
Great review. Are you going to review the mustang gt premium as well? Thnx
Im waiting for you to try the Ford Focus STLine :´(
How’s the cabin wind noise?
Man I’m sick they killed the manual for the Ecoboost
@@ayushmalpeddi2793 I'm talking about downshifting. I rarely ever upshift with the 10 speed.
Couple grand more get a GT you will not be disappointed
Nice Ford it's my Favourite Brand!❤🔥
For recalls?
Like most lower trim Mustangs in the past, this one looks good, and, uh...
i would take a sequential manual mode over paddle shifters all day but there isnt even that. thats crazy
Stunning car forsure. So bored of new cars or most new cars
Like the Beatles Song "Yellow Submarine" (smile) I Like It.
Large touchscreens but they’re laggy… unacceptable for 2024
I love this rear spoiler, please where can I buy it
The 2023 ecoboost is so much more fun and alot faster and has paddle shifters
Faster?
@@fooballyou my 2023 mustang ecoboost hpp has 350 hp stock… 0-60 4.5 seconds
@@F7RIZI Internet says your car has 330 hp stock. I wonder why the hp on the 2024 didn't go up with the pp added? Weird. Anyway, my 2024 is plenty fast for me and we both pass more gas stations than the GT's do for a whopping .3 second difference 0-60. (Car and Driver ran a 4.2 with the GT) Oh....and less insurance which is a biggie in Florida.
Ford really said this time ecoboost will be a rental car by not adding paddles and manual
"Listen, brother, but this car and this color are super similar to the Chevrolet Camaro."
Lol my 2022 Camaro LT1 base msrp was 35K. Came with the V8, a Tremec 6 speer, front brembos, 20in wheels, kaunch control, powered seats, carplay, full led lighting, etc all standard...
Mine has the optional 10 speed and umive been averaging over 20mpg... If i cruise at 70mph i can get over 500-550 miles on a single tank 😂
Nice, Nothing like a V-8 but I'll stick with the GT Coyote engine
do people not realize you can get the performace pack and get paddle shifters?
It's a shame they took away the paddles on the normal trims, the only way to get them now is by going with the performance pack, which just makes it less of a value and more of a reason to get a GT
For a car like this paddle shifter should be standard. The way Ford configured this thing makes the base Mustang a rental cruiser and not a sport GT car.
Can't choose between this or 2025 GR86 MT
Ford Mustang are my favorite sport cars
I agree, eco boost mustang trim is one of the best entry level sport cars. So much fun to drive and feel the even
balance of the car
Coming to a rental lot near you! Joking aside I feel like a used 4 series is a much better buy than this
Don't understand not having a way to manually shift. My 2018 Ecosport could pick gears!
Well, it could a few times... FORD.
I think anyone would be incredibly stupid to buy a new ecoboost at all. Most any new 4cyl has better features for that price. Manual, paddle shifters, better infotainment, better speed, and better mpg
I’ve been a long time fan of the channel and I work for Ford now. I mean no disrespect, but you said you went online to option one of these. You can option this with paddles but I do agree it should just be standard. Thank you for all the great content!
Exhaust note is awful, but I really like the blackout front and wheels on the yellow
Is there anything to secure a baby carseat to the seats in the back?
Im sure Ford left that out
Just got one in March of this year. Hate the car, it had so many problems already. My fuel level drops to zero after it reaches quarter. Instrument cluster, window, side mirrors have started making rattling noises. My wipers have gone bad after just 3.5k miles and ford doesn’t cover it under warranty.
A used Genesis G70 is about the same wheelbase - a used 3.3T would cost similar $ and be a much nicer daily driving experience.
Except would turn 0 heads and all around a boring ride. Thats not the point of this car. It's to grab people's attention and be a fun car
No paddle shifters. HPP has been discontinued. No manual. Ford nerfing the ecoboost hard.
No flappy paddles? That is really strange for this sort of vehicle...
I really dislike the exhaust noise.
That's what you get with a 4 cylinder lawnmower engine
No paddle shifters?
What on earth.
The build and price for the 2025 mustang says it includes paddle shifter for the 10 speed. Was this a 2024 only spec? Makes no sense
no manual?
Get those recalls fix because their coming quick for a new car
For that I’ll get the ford focus rs
