Emmet Cohen - Piano
Julian Lee - Tenor Saxophone
Bruce Harris - Trumpet
Russell Hall - Bass
Evan Sherman - Drums
Julian Lee is slept on hard, really melodic, gritty player with a killer tone. Great stuff as always
A very nice composition by Duke Pearson, one of the precursors of soul jazz.
Emmet Cohen, immersed in the exploitation of the heritage is a solid and brilliant guardian of the temple.
That opening is just HOT. Another brilliant iteration of this tune by EC3 and friends! 💯🔥
One of my favorite tunes ever....The Donald Byrd/Pepper Adams version from Live at the Half Note is awesome, and I love Cannonball/Nat Adderly version too, which I think may also be live
I love the piano player's use of those Major Minor sevenths (I think!!!) LOVE IT!!!
Bruce Harris played hell of a solo. 6:14 great phrase
Boy, that's one mellow trumpet. I've got to learn this tune today.
At one point you couldn't go to a jam session in ldn without this being called, great tune, and played real nice by these legends!
Yes.
so tight....all around
I can’t imagine being invited to see this
IKR? Like the home equivalent of npr Tiny Desk or Daryl's House for jazz. I'd love to be sitting on that sofa!
Didn’t know Chad lb played drums
With Charles Cornell on sax

L'ALLEGRESSE ET LA CUMPLICITÉ DES MUSICIENS, FONT DE LA MELODIE, UN SOLEIL VIBRANT, QUI SOURIT TOUJOURS DE NOTRE EXISTENCE ... !!!
Love this song. My sisters name is Jeannine. Same spelling. French? It’s rare in America where it’s usually Jeanine or Janine. This is a killing and swinging version by far. Thanks for sharing! Big thumbs up!
Yes french name from Jean (John) but for women (christiane / hébraïque origine) . No more used now. Prononciation in english IS near in french .
Emmet just totally kills this solo as always, so inventive, such joyful energy. There has never been a player quite like him.
Ahhh! Fresh jazz!
Cannonball lives on!
Great, great great ... especially this time. Emmet, could you please describe me the exact data of those great cymbals Evan Sherman is using in that Video? I assume that there are YOURS, because for example the one to the drummers RIGHT side i am used to see in many of your videos, in those with Joe Farnsworth i think to see that very same? Especially that one has a beautiful sound. Maybe its Your own and stays at the drums in your flat? Please : Brand (Paiste i am shure almost) but what kind of series (Formula 602?) and What MODEL (for ex. medium ride or medium etc...) and SIZE ? The left side ride aounds beautiful too ....- thanks . The interplay on that tune ... All are playing everything that I like to listen. THANKS 4 all your Videos. Dont miss to come to Vienna @ club "Jazzland" someday ! Ask Benny Golson, it was "family home" for him.
Milestones? No, Jeannine... Hhhh
THAT was COOOOKIN".......!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩
Thanks!
Wow! Bringing on the heat!
yess
Man was that swingin'! Just a wonderful arrangement and killin' solos - awesome job guys!

Drummer has excellent pants
The playing is spot on, but the sound engineering….!😮
Yeah, Julian.
This is seriously killing…better get hip!
That was VERY NICE!
Oh - what a quarter of an hour of greatest music.
wow! Bruce on the Cornet; wow! the whole Quintet is supreme; what a wonderfully swinging collaboration. Love the chords, and, Russell Hall, and, Evan Sherman are right up there; wow!
Yes! I noticed the cornet. That's nice to see (esp. in the small venue).
🎶Too MEAN for the Peoples🎵😎
10:46 WTF did I just see? 🔥🔥🔥
5:57 The lick
Wonderful!
Another fantastic rendition of Jeannine. Man, the drummer is so "tasty". He listens and swings, swings, swings.
Missing the G# min not funny
Was this tune composed by Cannonball Adderley ? Nice anyway
Actually composed by Duke Pearson, but Cannonball has a terrific recording of the tune
@@simonmogul3793 thanks !
Better than the original.
word
Houston Person wrote it. This was Eddie Jefferson's walk on with Richie Cole at Telluride Jazz Fest in 70s.
@@dennymalloy157 Duke Pearson wrote this tune. Not sure who wrote the lyrics, could have been Eddie Jefferson.
@steve keller Eddie Jefferson did record a vocal version of this tune but I believe Oscar Brown Jr. wrote the lyrics
I better be joking
