      200 dollar ticket seems like an odd way to work that plan. How they going to get the property with a ticket. Even if they did not pay it the city could not take and than auction a property in any none short time frame, Do you think they have the power of a HOA?

    • @XDaddyBender
      @XDaddyBender 8 місяців тому +88

      @@kevinconrad6156 They do it by not stopping at one ticket, they keep getting the property owner in trouble with city ordinance until the city takes possession of the home then the buyer/developers pays a fraction of what the property is worth to the city so the house can be brought up to code and resold. Scummy housing developers use this tactic a lot. There was a case similar to this one about 10 years ago in Indiana but that developer bought an entire 80 home trailer park/small home park for a very small fraction of what it was worth.

    This is not trash pickers re-dumping garbage picks, this is a tactic that greedy developers use on lower income homes that should have higher value. Developers will hire people to destroy their own communities just so they can swoop in and buy up entire neighborhoods for a fraction of what they are worth usually to put up apartments and duplexes. 10 to 1 those that run the city already know the developer behind this.

    This is one reason I remove shipping labels from everything that goes in my recycling and trash... you never know where that stuff can end up. I started doing this after two incidents. One was when I found a truck load of debris dumped in the woods... it had the county clerk's name and home address on it. He hired someone to haul it from his home to the dump. The other was when I found a bunch of debris from a ceramic tile job dumped on the side of the road... It indicated it came from a local tile company. Well, the materials did come from them. They identified who they sold it to by what was dumped. It was dumped by a contractor that was hired by a home owner.

      @jimroscovius 8 місяців тому +2

      @Helladamnleet Wrong. My son went through a red light, but I got the ticket because the car was in my name. However, I was not driving, nor was I even in the car. Yes, there was a spot on the ticket where I could say who was driving, my son signed it, and he got the ticket and paid it.
      But, what if it hadn't been my son? What if the guy I lent the car to refused to take responsibility? I'm on the hook for the ticket. Why should I be when I wasn't driving? You can say that I shouldn't have lent him the car, but that doesn't change the fact that I wasn't driving.
      It's just another Big Brother tactic used for control.

    I once was moving and had a lot of excess trash. I lived in the country, and the trash company offered an extra trash pick up for an extra fee. I contracted for that service, put my trash out and moved on trash pick up day.
    The trash was still there when I left.
    About a week or more later a cop calls me and says that he found a large amount of my trash miles away from my old house, and he wanted to know my explanation.
    I told him my story and said that I could show him my bill for the extra trash pick up on the day that I moved, and give him my new address showing that it would have been miles out of my way to dump the trash from the route I traveled to get to my new home. Besides that, I was moving and needed to get my stuff in our new home, and didn't have time to be running around dumping trash that I had already contracted to be hauled away by my trash company.
    He said it had magzines with my name on it, and so I was responsible, and if I didn't come pick it up he was going to give me a ticket.
    I told him that I was not responsible for someone stealing my trash and dumping it on the side of the road. He still claimed he would give me a ticket. I told him to go ahead and that I would make a fool of him in court.
    Never heard from him again. I did find out that he scared my wife, so she and our small children went and picked the trash up . I definitely wouldn't have, even though I hate litter and frequently pick up trash everywhere I go and throw it away.
    If he hadn't threatened me I probably would have volunteered to pick the trash up, but I hate bullies as much as litter, so I let my temper rule that day.

    My knee-jerk reaction was that the city or county wanted to claim eminent domain of the home especially after mentioning other empty properties nearby but this seems more like a porch pirate situation and illegal dumping fine due to theives since it was found miles away. Glad it seems to be resolved but seems issuing a citation without first asking questions is part of the problem.

    So, let's question those city employees how many cases of illegal dumping they've encountered whereupon the guilty party leaves their address labels all over the debris. Notice the fee for the city issuing that fine is $30.00 so the cost to them would actually be $ 230,00.

    Issuing a citation without investigation is cheaper and easier than actually speaking to the homeowners about it FIRST, That probably would have prevented this embarrassment at the start. Besides, the police should be aware porch pirates are running amuck.

    I got pulled over once for missing stickers on my plates. The officer called it in and my plate numbers came back to a completely different vehicle that had been stolen, so he realized someone swapped my plates. I got a letter a few weeks later saying they found "my car" in a ditch... the stolen car that wasn't mine at all. A surprisingly low amount of effort is put into basic investigation.
