"The Fool" is one of few guitars that basically started hard rock and heavy metal. It's right up there with "The Monkey" of Toni from Black Sabbath.
It's not the guitar, it's the hands that played it. These auctions are nonsense.
5:32 Oh, wow! That’s a sharp Firebird! The blue and gold is beautiful! 😍
The Fool guitar spent years at the Hard Rock Cafe in Taipei, Taiwan. In a shop window display case just thin glass protecting it from pedestrians. Don't ever lend your guitar to the HRC!!
I’ve always wanted to see what a “the fool” sg Gibson recreation turned out like
I always thought they had done! that seems like a crazy missed oppertunity.
Not as many collectors old enough to appreciate it left
Yes, we are thinning the herd quickly.
Good point. Never thought about that.
Clapton guitars have sold for ridiculous amounts of money. Still some dudes out there that would pay 300K for a Squier Bullet he played a G chord on.
i disagree, anyone who collects guitars is gonna know who clapton is and why this guitar is so iconic
Agreed. Clapton hasn't done anything relevant music wise for years. Not saying his influences aren't everywhere but as a player himself, he's entering the archival years.
When Ringo was on tour with Todd Rundgren, Todd was playing the SG.
Todd has a copy. He sold the original for $150k years ago to pay taxes.
The 3 guitars. Clapton. Santana. And the 3rd is Tufnel.
I think you maybe wrong, looks like Jeff Beck to me. Pic is a strat & I don't remember Tufnel playing one.
@@rockinrob2004 Hmmmm....I suppose it's possible. After all, I've been wrong before and I'm not afraid to admit it.
It was that time I thought I was wrong about something but turned out I was wrong. ;)
Holy crap. Wish i had that kind of money to buy a guitar
You seem to have good guitar taste. Wanna pool our money and share an axe? 😂
@@TylerJohnstonGuitar we need about another hundred thousand people according to my bank statement
@@doctoribanez Gotta start somewhere 😂I’m not exactly rolling in it over here either
The third guy was Jeff beck You know of the yardbirds
1:12 is that a pen*is truss rod cover? Would the cover then be a double entendre? [insert a bit on straightening the neck] *tool not included
We noticed too!!! 😅
Jim Irsay bought a guitar that’s named after him, pretty funny lol.
I had a Vivian Campbell LP and sold it, and not even at a good price, still a huge regret to this day…
Damn, makes the market value for Kurt's guitars even more insane!
Okay, I'll admit it. If I wanted to spend money on another Gibson model and specifically wanted an offset one, that Firebird would be real tempting.
That supreme is amazing usually pics don't do them justice but that quilt with that neck is gorgeous. A lot of really nice guitars like always. Things to make me get itchy!
The dreaded itch! I know that game! Hahahahaha it’s tough my friend.
The Vivian had such a beautiful top and the neck was unbelievable hope you can find one to doc and review at some point 👏🤘👍
Props to Jim Irsay, it's amazing what billionaires can accomplish when they don't pay their fair share of taxes.
I got to see this guitar at the Play it Loud exhibit at the Met in NY.
Those older Supremes wow beautiful
the Doritos guitar with a replaced fretboard would actually look really cool.
This "guy" is Jeff Beck :)
Those custom color firebirds are awesome.
I just want to say hi to the guy that in the last video told me this would "appeal to much richer collectors" than Kurt Cobain's Martin acoustic.
It'll be hard for another guitar to beat that 6 million dollar price tag
Not shocked at all honestly. In addition to the prestige of being the last guitar Cobain played on a major televised event his Martin was also an extremely rare model, only 200 or so made in the 50's.
@Onidragon55 still waaaaay too much money for Cobain's Martin acoustic if you ask me IMHO
Surely there’s more to those supremes? trapeze inlays, regular custom headstock inlay…
Could it be an early prototype trying lower price point whilst still keeping the unique supreme body?
that vivian cambell lp custom was awesome.
way out there guitars at way the hell out there prices
3rd guy is Jeff Beck???
100% all these guys saying Nigel, no way
Read about The Fool and how they were discovered by none other than Brian Epstein. They painted instruments for all four Beatles, but of course George painted the Rocky strat himself.
Id love to have a fool sg. Even an Epiphone if the image looked good and it played well.
I unironically want the Yahoo explorer.
It’s a real winner!
LOL @ the phallic truss rod cover.
Whoever designed that thing 100% knew what they were doing
Top 4 most expensive guitar sales: 1. Kurt Cobain's acoustic from "MTV Unplugged:" 6 mil. 2. Kurt Cobain's Fender Mustang from "Smells Like Teen Spirit" video: 4 mil. 3. David Gilmours black Fender Strat: upper 3 mil. Eddie Van Halen's Kramer Beretta from the "Hot for Teacher" video: just a few bucks behind Gilmour's Strat
I love the way that blue pickguard matches with the red of the Doritos LP !!!!!
That Doritos guitar is in perfect condition: chipped! 👀🫣🤣
The third guitarist could be Jeff Beck
I really like that Yahoo Explorer.
Did this to my Peavey Renown a while back. Missed one knob. :(
LOL "Even if you get an offer you think is too low...." Tell me you lowballed him without telling me.
Well, he always lowballs, lol. He made a couple of offers on two of my guitars that I gladly turned down.
Yeah, we sold him one pretty cheap here recently. I won't say which guitar it was, but my partner was hot to see something of ours on an episode, so Trogs got a smoking ass price.
I want to guess the third guitar player as being the one and only Jeff Beck. R.I.P. good Sir.
the doken nightmere on elm street guitar would be cool to have
Love the Blue Firebird , the Vivian Campbell LP is super cool !, the LP Supreme is Supreme, and the Dorito LP is doofy doof ( a Cool Ranch version would've been better ! ) uh-durr , Thanks Trog !
I wonder if Joe Bonamassa bought the Albert King Flying V. He has 2 of his V's already.
That third guitar player is the way holding a guitar look like Jeff Beck
100% agree
I agree also.
I can't believe you would not tells us who the third guitarist is. Clearly it's Angus Young
Naw. Angus wouldn’t buy something that colorful.
I believe it is Jeff Beck, because he played the Fender Stratocaster electric guitar, while Angus Young ONLY played a Gibson SG Standard.
@@ozemg32_ozem_goldwire I'm with you! @michaelmoore7975 above said Tufnel, I think both those guys are wrong. It's JB
@@ozemg32_ozem_goldwirenah, it was definitely Bob Marley.
Jeff Beck
Vintage V6 sg comes in this colour
They are pretty rare themselves. And quite pricey. Not $1mil pricey though 😂
Kurt Cobain holds the record over 6 million on his acoustic..
That's just nuts IMHO just saying
Please do baritone Explorer? Baritones get so little love outside metalcore and such
Jim will make sure it's taken care of and I'm sure he will loan it out to Gibson when asked.
If they ever find the Clapton Bluesbreaker Les Paul, that will make "The Fool" look like chicken feed,
oh, I'm sure Gibson couldn't have afforded the selling price (tongue firmly planted in cheek)!
Hey there
Greetings Random Dude.✌️✌️
SG rules. Best shape
It's certainly in the top 10. 😂
In my experience Japanese sellers rarely accept offers....
sometimes you get lucky... but yes, that is typically how it goes
🤔 As far as I know* the single coils on my US-1 still work. *(Each of those little toggle switches snapped off. 😆)
Okay, that's creepy -- my Google Photos app's "Spotlight Memory" just now was a picture I took of my US-1 in April 2021. 😵💫
03:20 - Jeff Beck
05:29 Illuminati confirmed! 😂
Wow, you really dont know who Jeff Beck is?
Far out I was just creating a mask w/ kaleidoscope eyes
I need a 1972 ebony lp custom or 1972 cherry sg deluxe, early 70s gibsons are the best
I may be wrong, but I think Gibson made a fool?
Jeff Beck was the third fella.
what happened to the sunday mod shop recap?
How do everyone!!
3 Guitars - Jeff Beck '
Well, at least you have a nice guitar collection because your football team……
Hey, TrogMeister - slow-but-steady-longtime viewer and subscriber here… I often watch vids of yours where you allude to instruments “not stored properly” and was hoping you could do a video where you could include everything you would consider important in what IS the “PROPER” way to store instruments… i’m positive you have touched on some of the important points here and there in various videos, but it would be helpful if you could include them all in one video. I have a small collection in Texas, and frequently worry that I’m not doing enough to take care of them properly. I am aware of some of the more obvious guidelines: avoid extreme and/or rapid temperature changes, and that humidity is a factor and (I try) to keep them in their cases. But could you expand on these with more full explanation and add to these examples with anything else pertinent? It would be greatly appreciated and I think informative to many viewers. Thanks!
Wish you could have got blue bird
👍
Greetings Andy.✌️✌️
@@sgt.grinch3299 Howdy Sgt
pretty sure that's
Danny Bonaduce
Oh, come on, Clapton is the most famous user of this guitar. No one would care at all if he hadn't used it in Cream. It has been redone several times and messed up many times, which is why it didn't bring more.
Jeff Beck
Think Eric's comments about things affected the bidding response.
I think its Jeff Beck.
✌️
Peace Peace Hector ✌️✌️

Austin, when can we expect your museum to open?
He said in a recent vid it's open for private tours ($$$). Info might be on the website.
If somebody have a lot of money You can pay this !

Todd Rundgren owned that guitar
But, WHICH version of this was Todd’s? He’s been known to have more than one made.
@@georgeprice4212 He only has one replica made by a Japanese fan in 1988. He played the actual fool from 1973-74 until the headstock snapped off(From Eric sanding the paint off the neck). Todd retired it, then after a few years had it restored and played it off and on from 1980 -1992. Last live sighting was the star guitar benefit in 1992.
Mark knofler guitars up for sale jan 2024. Wonder how much they will make?
Nigel Tufnel
Yippee...
Truss rod cover looks like a ween
You know it's Jeff
Who ever paid that was the fool 😂
Doritos guitar is a Poly finish.
Not really his most famous guitar plus it’s been heavily modified since Clapton used it
I wouldn't call replacing the bridge and the tailpiece "heavily modified".
Why does the trus rod look like that 😂
Joe Bonamassa?
As time goes on, those who appreciate an instrument from rock and roll history, will continue to shrink. I wont be suprised that if sold again in a decade or so, the fool sg will hammer for less than what the guitar sold for recently.
Could go the other way.. who knows?
Being in the irsay collection… I doubt it’ll even be for sale again. He was just offered big bucks for his whole collection and he turned it down. He is single handedly preserving rock’nroll history one iconic piece at a time!
So if a guitar is in Japan it’s probably not being cared for as well as it would be if it was in the US?!?!
No, climate differences is all. Humidity being the biggest.
Dorito Les Paul looks terrible to me. Bleugrh.
Seriously asking, who is the third unnamed guitarist he wouldn't name?
The fool is as "unseasoned" as his cover of ISTS.
Except for the beard and mustache that could easily have been Jeff Beck. I believe he had a strat that color. But I don't recall him ever sporting facial hair. I imagine that if Gibson would've done a body for the doritos guitar shaped like a chip that it may have come out looking a bit like a Greek instrument. If I had the disposable cash there's three guitars I would like to have maybe even for or more . One would be the Fool copy. Others would be Rocky and a reissue of the Rosewood Telecaster of George Harrison. Possibly a Toni Ioni Monkey. And definitely if I was able to the rosewood block SG that Trogley has.
Possibly SRV?
It's got to be Beck, facial hair or no facial hair.
If I had that much money, I would buy a 5.000$ Gibson maybe. But I would not buy the SG. (Fool)
Your X-files wipe made this vid totally worth it, Trogly: Thank you 😂
if I had unlimited money I would have played the fool and bought the fool to hang up next to my hello kitty guitar.
Race car car guitar
Still, too much for a refin.
Doritos 3rd player? Nigel Tufnel
