My pleasure. I hope that for those who use photobashing and like me, have come to dislike adobe products, they can see that Clip Studio is a cheaper option to get the job done. I'm glad this was helpful.
Thank you for this video, it's been a while I'm using ClipStudio Paint EX, and I was looking for some video about photobashing in this software since everybody use Photoshop, it's good to see that it's possible and can be a good tool too to work with photos. Because seems like almost everybody use photobashing for realistic painting of landscapes !
Yeah photobashing is an important skill in concept art/production art as well as marketing and other options depending on what the art director is going for. Clip can do. It's easier in photoshop but as I showed here it can be done and still be done quickly which is important. I'm so glad this was helpful for you. It makes me happy when I hear something I did helped another artist. Thanks!
Ive got a few apps that I do this on and clip is not the best but it has great brushes and so I sometimes move things to other apps to get a result , bashing is a source of great ideas and so I have not found the best app , theres a lotta people looking for the same thing . Thanks theres not many people talking about this .
dumb question but is photo bashing still considered a painting or illustration cuz I draw everything (meaning characters) and, this kind of seems like cheating do industries like blizzard use this technique?
Not a dumb question at all. Yes a lot of studios use this method often coupled with 3d models too. If you look at the art for "The Last of Us" or any of the "Call of Duty" games, they use this technique. I wouldn't say it's cheating perse. It's different. the goal of a concept artist is to design, not really be a fine artist. Speed is important. And it isn't as easy as some might think. You have to understand lighting, color , perspective, and a lot of other fundamentals as well. It isn't my favorite way to work or my favorite style but it is a useful tool in the tool box.
@@JonTorresconceptartist thanks you for this information it has mad a lot of things clear. Irrelevant but I'm 20, and inspiring to be a concept artist for characters design. I was wondering if photo bashing could be used for building a character and if possible could you plan a tutorial for the future.
@@errxrstudios976 It can totally be used for character design. That is for sure a possibility for a video in the future. I'll put it on the list of videos to make coming up. I can only show how I would do it, so take that with a grain of salt. haha.
@@JonTorresconceptartist no worries lol😊 any thing is better then nothing until the im gonna be practicing PB to see wh im capable of doing see u then 👋😁
Yeah, not as good as photoshop. It takes way more time and effort, for probably worst result. I would like to have a real alternative to photoshop, because it is too expensive. 370 euros each year for a software is definetly too much in my opinion. I have to say that I never paid for any suscription in 12 years, but I would like to if it was something affordable and reasonable. This is why I like to check different softwares from time to time.
always intresting to hear other artist's opinion about art and art programs in general , keep up the goodwork man! I really enjoy your videos
Thanks. These kinds of comments keep me going. I appreciate it.
this was really helpful, knowing that clip is at least capable of PB
big thanks for this sensei

I know it's a year later but have you looked into Affinity? I hear it's really close to photoshop and better than CSP in regards to photomanipulation
Krita is much better at Photobashing!
