This bike is definitely not the best pedaler for huge uphills, but I can say it DOES climb better than my 650b Slash. I live in area with massive climbs that are steep as hell. The insurgent takes me up those just fine, and on the way down.... you better hold on! The bike is amazing. Forget the useless comments about chainslap, there is always a solution to tiny problems like that, mine is running stealthy. No noise.
+yeti lover I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on one of those. How are you getting along that chain slapping the guys were referring to?.. The chain is right on top of the chainstay..
+skypiratez im running a 30 on the front as its hilly where i live (luckily) so yes the chain is VERY close in top gear. Its only really in that gear on road transitions. However id say the noise is more to do with it being a holo carbon frame. Though its less noisy than other carbon bikes I've had. Now as for pulling the trigger? BANG!!
+skypiratez I'm using a 34t chainring, and just bought a thick chain stay protector(lezyne) and also added some lizard skins carbon frame protector sticker on the down part of the seat stay! NO CHAIN SLAP AT ALL! At least I don't hear any noise, but made those adjustments because of all these comments on reviews and the fact that the chain does run very close to the chain stay on the hardest gear. Hope this helps! GET ONE
+tom rafter Haha no, but it kinda looks like him. Contrary to the way they play it though Dan actually started on mountain bikes so if it was him I wouldn't have been too surprised.
I had the following and loved it but as for a 120mm travel trail bike a simply found it to slack for all round use . I found the rear end dragged and it was really killing my rides . I've since sold my following and got a bike with 130mm rear travel with a steeper seat tube and I'm flying again )) I just think evil went to slack for a trail bike in the bid to make 29er more playfull whitch did work but climbing it suffers with rear wheel drag and front end Stevie wonder . if evil made the following with a steeper seat tube then the following would be the best 100% trail bike around . happy I've changed bikes
"Impressively lite" 29 lbs.? This is a $6700 plus bike with very light Enve wheels. By the way a quick search has the Enve 60"s - $2717 a set. If these are the wheels they used. That makes the price more like $9417 not $8K.
Agree with James. When you purchase upgraded wheels along with the bike, they're usually discounted. Plus, lets take into account that it's on top of at around $1k worth of wheelset that's on the bike configured at $6700. In regards to "impressively light" ... well, it's a Large ... very stiff, DH tailored bike that's good for a bike park. Needless to say, stiffer frame means more material hence more weight. Given the fact that it is FULL enduro/all mountain bike geared more so towards gnarly descends, @ 29lbs (with pedales), it's "impressively light" :) ... I think they make this comment considering what the bike is geared towards. I think they're comparing the bike to a DH/bike park bike. I have found several sub 27 to 27.5lb small size Evil insurgents out there. I would compare this bike full Enduro bikes ... I don't think you're going to find too many full enduro bikes under 28-29lb (that's assuming you're looking at a size small/med).
Man it is so difficult to watch your videos the audio is crap and its just so difficult i dont know how to describe it but i think i have made it thru 2 of your videos partly because of the audio and i guess mainly just because the format sucks. Sorry i want to try to watch but i just can't take it more than 45 sec maybe a minute and i know im not the only one that feels this way.
You need to do something with your intro, its loud as shit and then when yoj guys are talking you can barely here. It makes it really difficult to watche yohr videos. I honestly dont ghink I have been able to watch one of your videos all the way thru be ause they suck so bad and i really want to watch and learn about some of the bikds you review.
carbon this carbon that carbon carbon carbon..when carbon gets a large ding from a rock or wipeout that area of carbon is ruined!..dangerous and more importantly EXPENSIVE to fix..i'll never ride carbon handlebars it just freaks me out when bombing down a hill
my carbon renthal bars have taken several crashes and still remain true and strong without any damage. Carbon is the way to go it's a lot stronger than you think
windsurfer912 oh i know its strong much stronger than steel but its also susceptible to damage easier than aluminum or steel if it gets dinged then it needs mending or replacement asap
+tasteegold7772 I see where your concern is. But for instance the Renthal bars have this special military glue paint job that basically protects the carbon from most damage. Heck if Riche Rude uses these bars without failure I'll use em to haha!

can someone do a video on the Intense Tracer T275C?
I like how Evil and GT took style cues from the 2014 SC Bronson. :/

review a norco sight a7.1 pls
How can these be such good reviews and yet so aggravating and down right annoying to watch? It's all a compromise when it comes to mountain bikes.
Please get your hands on a Rose "the Unchained" and review that.
