- Yes, I am aware that I accidentally wrote "1994" in the video :c Im truly sorry about that, of course it's supposed to be 1944! :3
Eurovision 2016 - Ukraine.
Susana Jamaladinova ( Jamala ) - 1944.
Ukraine won eurovision song contest 2016 with this song, and I believe it is rather good, so I wanted a lyric video, with english translation aswell.
I do not own this music.

I guess we are pretty late to provide those who don't know our language with the direct and correct translation of the Turkish parts. This is a whole different dialect, but I guess I understood them all.
Yasligima toyalmadım. (I couldn't live my youth to the full.)
Men bu yerde yasalmadim. (I couldn't live here.)
Vatanima toyalmadım. (I couldn't get enough of my motherland.)
The last line possesses a really deep meaning for us, the Turkish people, whose ancestors lost thier homelands and feared of being killed. Actually, it is like an idiom and indicates the longing for the homeland, and when she finished the song with the last two words everyone in my family went silent. It is really emotional. I can't express the value of those two words, even if I try my best. Additionally, I want to add a wish of mine to this comment section. I hope for a world where everyone respects distinct cultures and tries to live peacefully, without harming anyone.
@SilaNazOzkan Thank you for your translation. How deeply moving. I pray for a world where ppl respect each other's cultures as well. Unfortunately, as long as there are religions/ideologies which incite feelings of supremacy and bigotry, we will never fully embrace each other's beautiful differences. It breaks my heart. Thank you for your sweet & kind heart. As long as there are ppl like you in the world to promote tolerance, we can sleep easier at night knowing there's less hate... Less bigotry... More LOVE 😍❤️ Which is all this world really needs. ✌️
Really, Turkey shouln't complain, you opressed the balcanic countries for centuries
@@adybrindoiu8608 We didn't opress them. Balcanic countries were once a part of Ottoman Empire, and the citizens were ruled equally. Provide me with decent evidence that indicates oppression, please.

Beautiful song! I loved it so much. A lot of emotion and energy was put in this song. BEAUTIFULY written and beautifully sung by Jamala!!!!!!! Amazing voice ♡♡♡♡
Thanks for the translation :D
I love how jerks in the comment are saying it's wrong, without providing any proof or accurate translation to help or prove they actually know them. Ignore them, as far as i'm concerned their all liars if they can't back up their words. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to make this! Just discovered this song & it's my mission to learn it.
breakingfoundations they are not jerks, they just know more then you do. And the translation is wrong
Lale Abdurehim maybe provide with correct translation then??
Simply saying it's wrong & providing no correction dosn't help us learn the true translation. Thats my point. I never once said i new more or claimed to. i don't know anything about this language honestly. Thats why i was hopefull someone would give the correct translation, instead of just saying it's wrong. Just cause someone says somethings wrong doesn't mean their automatically right & If they have the answers then why don't they educate us? I find it jerky to say somethings wrong without having the courtesy to at least explain why to who your critiqueing. They can't fix if no one tells them the right words.
Did you guys even read what i said? I don't speak this language. I was commenting on how people keep saying the translations wrong but then they don't provide the corrected words. Wich makes me believe they may not actually know them. Thats all.
LumosCreature i would but i a not so good at english
I hope she presents this song again at the Eurovision 2022 in Italy
Not Italy, in the whole World.🤗
2023!!!
Thank you for the lyrics. Great job. The song is amazing. I'm really late.
good job ;) I searched for translation .. thanks.
Thank you for this song. It's A true work of musical art...!!!
It's people like yourself that, through the gift of songs & their lyrics, keep the rest of the world hopeful & positive.
So one again, thank you.

Thank you!
Im English so thanks for the translation but I think I prefer the other version its sounds so hauntingly beautiful.
Such powerful lyrics
Who knew that this song will tell the story of 2022...:( Slava Ukraini! We are with You! Much love from Poland!
Mogłabyś chociaż darować sobie to zawołanie - mordowali przy tym hasełku Polskich bezbronnych ludzi i trochę to bardzo niesmaczne tak z dumą je skandować , tym bardziej w Polsce. :/
Am proud of being a part of Turk! ✊💪
I am not 100% sure I nailed the translation, please tell me if you know better :D
0:00 1994?
Gencligime Doyamadim,Ben bu yerde yasamadim thats the way u spell and Vatanima Doyamadim
Yasliğima doyamadim-gençliğime doyamadım
Men bu yerde yasalmadim-ben bu yerde yaşayamadım
(I'm soory but my english not good >^
The correct one: yaşlığıma toyalmadım= i couldn't get enough of my youth
Men bu yerde yaşalmadım= i couldn't live in this place
Vatanıma doyamadım= i couldn't get enough of my homeland
@@timetosugar3233 yeah you were no help
Google translate thinks Yaşlığıma toyalmadım
Men bu yerde yaşalmadim means I did not tossed my old age
Men did not live in this place
After Reading "Schindler's list" this hits different
Reminds me of syria, Palestina and Yemen
Reminds me Venezuela, Corea del Norte y China
It's about stalin killing everyone in russia
@@oweak7282 But it could just as easily apply to the Jews who were forced from their ancestral homelands throughout the Middle East, as well. ✌️
Did you mean to say Israel?
Reminds me of Bosnia 1992.-1995.
0:01 its 1944 not 1994
Good app
0:00 1994?
Anyone recognized the title “1994” and the correction is “1944”
1:00 this is wrong actually "I could not get enough of my youth,I could not live in this place" and this is Turkish
TURKCE DEGIL TATARCA HER SEYE ATLAMAYIN
this isnt turkish
its Ukraine
@@ash91918 it is. That part of the song is in Tatar Turkish.
@@tosuguna5284 Tatarca ne? Bir Türk dili değil mi? Ayrıca, bazı kaynaklar Türk Dil Ailesindeki "dillerin" Yakutça, Çuvaşca ve Halaçca hariç aslında tek bir dilin lehçeleri olduğunu söyler.
I feel like a Lithuanian should sing this song considering that a third of the Lithuanian population died because of the Soviet union due to World War 2.
Emil Steilsson And I'm from Poland and I feel like this is also to my country. In 1944 was an upraising in capital city Warsaw and many, many Poles died :(
Priyam D Yeah, you're right it makes sense. Both world wars were horrible for whole Europe. So many people died, it's so sad :/
I think Palestina should sing this song.
Ukrainians and people from the regions of other countries that now belong to the Ukraine died, too. My grandma was a refugee from the part of Romania that now belongs to the Ukraine, she played between corpses in refugee camps
I'm a Lithuanian :( And yeah these countries like Ukraine and Lithuania, did suffer a lot.....:(
Amazing song. I'm curious is there context on why she chose turkish lyrics in the song? Does she have turkish background?
While Jamala is Ukrainian, her ancestors were Crimean Tatars(subgroup of the larger Turkic world). She choose to add Crimean Tatar lyrics because her ancestors were exiled(many died on the way) to central asia in 1944 by Stalin
@somerandomdude409 I see now, thanks for clarifying.
What vatanima means?
it is a Turkish word. it means homeland
And toyalmadim?
Actually it should be "doyamadım"... again a turkish word... better translation "I cant get enough". she said in the song "i cant get enough my elder age..."->yasliligima doyamadim...
If we try an adaptation for better understanding, that could be "I cant be elder in there"
Edit note: because of dialect differences the meaning of phrase might be different. I am not sure but here is the second alternative:"i cant live enough of my youth"
Gençliğime doyamadım
Ben bu yerde yaşayamadım*
跟处理过i么斗殴亚麻地名
本不样儿的牙撒亚麻地名
*I couldn't live enough my youth ages.
I couldn't live in this place
I couldn't live enough my youth ages,
I couldn't live in this place* will be better translate. The last sentence in the song can translate like *I couldn't live enough in my homeland*. No one can translate perfect without notes because Turkish words more meaningful than english words in general. Turks gived too much mean to words old times. I don't know why but it is.
Isn't it Ukrainian and not Turkish
That doesn't make sense in English
@@kita9685 Turkish
@@naomigreen5682 I'm English and it makes sense to me just use your head context/ meaning is always going to be different when translated from another language.
" I couldn't live in my home land during my childhood it was cut short. it was taken from me " is basically what they're hearing in their language is my guess.. more or less
Last sentence probably Translates " I did not have enough time to spend in my homeland during those childhood years. Was stolen"
That's my only English-speaking hypothesis and I'm sticking to it 😁
Ur welcome
@@kita9685 Its Turkish there is old Turks lives in Russia and Ukraine before those ppl think like Native Americans in U.S. but we call them Kirim Turks

no its not turkısh
Yasligima toyalmadım /Men bu yerde yasalmadim these are wrong
It should be Gençliğime doyamadım/Ben bu yerde yaşayamadım
No. She is singing in Tatar. VERY CLOSE to Turkish since it is a turkic language but it is not Turkish.
bu sözler türkçe falan değil. Tatarca. türkçeye çok benzediği için türkçe gibi geliyor size. AMA TATARCA ve sözlerde doğru YANLIŞ DEĞİL.
Makes me think of the Armenians struggles tbh and all the Soviet states struggles
What’s more funny - she’s half Crimean Tatar and half Armenian
amerians struggles hahahaha
Is not Yasligıma ....= Gençliğime doyamadım, Ben bu yerde yaşayamadım

Vatanima toyalmadim değil vatanıma doyamadım olacak men bu yerde yasalmadim değil ben bu yerde yaşamadım olacak
sarkı turkce değil tatarca. şarkı 18 mayıs 1944 te olan kırım tatarlarının sürgününü konu alıyor. O nedenle sözler doğru. Tatarca ben değil men doyamadım toyalmadım diye okunur turkce degıl
No the correct translation. Sorry
Oh :c could you help me with that? :3
yeah. Not correct.
Then what the fuck is the correct translation?!
then tell us what is smartass
@@musiclyrics3345 your tranlation is right. They think Tatar sentences are Turkish. Because it is very similar to Tatar and Turkish. Don't mind them, the translation is correct. This is how it is read and spoken in Tatar

wrong translate you dont know turkish and i cant speak english 😅
No translation is accurate truly, as any linguist understands. we're each trying to equate words which have subtly different meanings into our own languages, resulting in a loss of meaning along the way, especially once we restructure it to fit out language.
