Dan, you have convinced me with the numbers and the reminder of how Soto supported his previous teammates. We all hated Joe Kelly until he became LA’s fighter. And we really don’t know Soto’s full personality yet. He was the lone Yankee who watched the Dodgers celebrate. As I have lived through the seasons as far back as the O’malleys, Fox, and the dreaded McCourts ownerships, I always wanted our shot to be a dynasty organization. This current lineup is finally our chance and we should take it. We take for granted that recent success will always be ours. Baseball is hard and by nature humbling. Ohtani alone in my senior years will have me grateful but damn, it would be sweet to have a run so historic that Ken Burns would have to create another chapter of the “Baseball “ documentary for the “Los Angeles” Dodgers.
I’ve always been attracted to a certain ratio that Soto exemplifies: walks to strikeouts. Very few hitters are able to walk more than they strike out, and invariably they are the elite of the elite. That said, I still think that it would be a mistake to overpay for Soto. If money were no object, sure I’ll sign him in an instant. But if I could get Adames, Fried and Teo for the same price, three good players for the price of one great player, I’d rather have the three.
@@timg6125 I get what you’re saying Tim. BUT I don’t think it’s an either or situation. But even if it were, I guess my philosophy is getting that uber talent on this roster is gonna outweigh the benefits of those smaller pieces
