My BFF went to this movie and called me from the lobby sobbing. This movie is us! when she died in 2004 I heard her take her last breath. She was artistic and fun and crazy and Jewish. I was a little weird, live a Gentile straight life but when she died we had loved each other, our spouses, been through illness. We talked every night at 10:00 for 32 years no matter where we were. I always cry when I hear this. I miss every day of my life. Her name was Susie and I was so blessed to have her.
Do YOURSELF a favor and don't Grieve, rather cherish and honor the memories the two of you shared. When you cherish memories, it allows you to be able to conduct daily tasks
@@edstevens6839 yes but she needs to grieve too, you never prevent someone from grieving, it hurts them more, I know a lot about it, I lost a few friends, one was the hardest one on my emotions, I wouldn't wish that on anyone, Bette went through a hard time when she lost her friend from school, she was killed in a car accident like my friend was, I know how bad that hurt Bette, my heart still goes out to her, you have to let the person grieve, it hurts yes, but they have to get the hurt out, their is nothing wrong with crying
I laughed & cried through the movie Beaches. The song reminds me of my Parents. We always lived close. In my parents later years when my husband & I bought our home, we moved them into our home. (His parents lived around the corner) This gave us the opportunity to be with then until the all went to heaven. I was blessed to be with my parents when they passed. The song is sad but uplifting at the same time.
I saw the movie “Beaches” when it first came out. Loved it and the song. The movie is about two friends who met when they were kids and truly loved each other. The song for me is about my mother who’s funeral was last week. She gave so much of herself to her kids. I can’t listen to this song without crying. I miss her. Makes you wonder how many tears a human body can hold?? Do check out “The Rose” by Bette Midler. Beautiful song!! Now I have to go listen to it! 😢❤️🎵
When I watch Beaches, the movie, I cry every time. I'm crying now. You have to watch this movie. Bette Midler, She sang this beautifully!! Great reaction!!
I met Bette MIddler in 1970. The first time the Who's rock opera Tommy was staged was in Seattle at the Moore Theater, and my brother's band (he was lead guitar) was the pit band, given thumbs up by Pete Townshend. Bette Middler played the Acid Queen and Tommy's mother. She is an incredible singer and actress, and a very cool lady. This movie (from many years later) became a favorite of my wee daughter and me.
I can't believe that you don't know Bette Midler she is one of the most famous singers of all time and a legend in the music industry. I think she has been singing for 35-40 years now. Love her! Thank you for playing that one.
This song makes me think of the movie Beaches. My friend passed and she was was the wind beneath my wings. She was godmother to three of greatest special needs kids…smiled, enjoyed and laughed through the highs and lows. Thanked me as she died for giving her a chance to be a part of their lives, she never had any of her own.
My best friend told me this song was how she felt about me. But in all honesty she was the strongest most amazing person I ever met and listening to this I feel like this is about her. She was a force that shined so bright and my life will never be complete now that she is gone.
Such a classic movie. A true testament to a lifelong solid friendship. Will make you laugh and break your heart at the same time. The song, along with the clip, makes me cry EVERY TIME. Thanks Ty 😁
It is a fabulous movie, you definitely need to watch it. I think of my mom... and grandmother that passed away... every time I hear it. They both have been there for me for everything in my life. I would not be who I am if it weren't for them! If you haven't listened to The Rose from Bette Midler you have to listen to it. Another classic!
This song was popular the year I graduated from high school. I was involved in the music department and at the end of the year we had a talent show. 2 of my friends and I wanted to do this song in the show. Another girl had already taken the song. Man were we tore up. It was our last year and we really wanted that song! We almost came to blows over it. Good times. The movie is really great btw.
I heard this song when it first came on the radio in 1989. The song still has a powerful and deep meaningful lyrics that anyone can emotionally and spiritually relate to. In the 1990s, it was an anthem for so many to “give back” some of their successes in life by being a good mentor to their own kids, family members, friends, fellow church members, and yes even some corporations have created mentor and mentee programs to help employees to become successful. Today, the song’s inspirational message is needed more than ever as so many are still struggling to survive. I truly believe that the song should be played today as often as possible to inspire and motivate others to become the best that they can be. Personally, the song gave me a purpose and meaning in life to help those who are less fortunate. God bless you for your heartfelt reaction.
Through serendipity, this song came up for me today -- ten years ago two days ago I lost my Michael to a heart attack -- we had been together in life for 32 years, and in the ten years since then I think of him every day.
@Geo Skan - yeah, that just blows my mind. How do you not know Bette Midler. Dude, you need to get yourself some culture. There’s a lot more to life than rap / hip-hop music.
Everyone's had that friend that lives life on high, and we all secretly want that too. We grew up very poor and often each others only friends, close doesn't describe us, we were intertwined. That person was my brother for me & my sister both. He lived life to the fullest,a light, always smiling, always helping others, always playing, worked his butt off to turn around and give it to others. We were envious of his happy go lucky attitude and the way he did for other's.. We grew up fast and rough, it bent us girls but Justin was invincible to the weights of the world. We lost him at 25 years old when a car pulled out in front of him while he was on his motorcycle. We both struggled for years after his passing bc we felt the best part of us was lost. He is definitely the wind for us,to this day he pushes us to be better and more childlike. Who knew he was telling us the same things therapist and councilors would tell us as adults.
The first time I heard it was when watching the movie Beaches. The wind beneath my wings is my my husband. He picks me up when I'm down, he cheers me on when I'm trying to succeed in anything I do, and he holds me tight when things go wrong. 27 years of marriage and still loving each other more than ever ❤️ And to think I'm not 50 yet. I can't wait for the next 40/50 years together!
A nice movie. Bette Midler's a great singer. Excellent song about friendship, love and hope. Makes me think of my Dad. Thanks for this one haven't heard it in a long time.
I know this song from the movie "Beaches", I would dedicate this song to my Grandma and the reason I would do that is because she has been there for me through so much in my life and always say keep your head up and be brave and strong.
Such a beautiful but soul crushing movie. Beaches. Good movie to watch, but keep the box of tissues close. Love Bette Midler and her voice and acting. That is her, the red head, starring in the movie as well.
She started out out singinging in the 70s in The Baths, a famous New York bath house frequented by the gay community in Manhattan and became so famous, Johhny Carson invited her to sing on the his Late Night Show, a tv staple and blew everybody away including him and was so beloved, she was the only singer invited on his legendary last show and everyone cried. Her concerts were mindblowing extravaganzas !!
I never saw the movie "Beaches", but this song was all over the radio stations back in the 1980s. I loved the song and would sing it to my Husband all the time. Now I'm not a bad singer. I can carry a tune, but I'm no Bette Midler either!
This song is about LIFELONG FRIENDS, I am luck to have that in Chris....Friends since 1970, we're now in our early 60's and still as close as the first time we met.....WE both are lucky!!
Yes, I to feel it's one of the best Love and Admiration songs out there!😭 The movie is Fantastic it makes me cry each time I see it, but it is so heartwarming too! It is definitely worth a watch. 😊
Absolutely beautiful friendship movie, not just a "chick flick". Saw it with my BFF when released and many times since. The (California) "beach" scenes were filmed at Crystal Cove State Park in OC, Ca (Newport/Laguna) which is absolutely stunning with tons of history open to the public. The "cabin" is now a film "museum". I walk that beach several times a year and take time to sit on THAT porch and reflect. Many movies have been filmed in that location. Worth a visit.
This is a beautiful song, and a great movie........ If you don't mind shedding a few tears, which I don't. My mom always said I was the most empathetic kid she had lol.
You did fine. Pronounced her name and all. The movie Beaches was fabulous. A movie of life long friends from totally different background and personalities but a platonic love thatwas immeasurable.
I asked my kids over 10 years ago to sing this as my funeral. When my daughter heard it, a couple of years ago for the first time she cried and said that she couldn't do it. It's too sad.
My then 14 year old daughter, used to call out to me often “mom mom mom!! Usually when I was super busy with life, I would yell “what”. She’d say “you are the wind beneath my wings”. She is now a mom herself.
Ugh who's cutting onions in here? A beautiful song and movie! I used to sing this to my mom as a kid. Also my brother loved it so much that as a little boy he had us call the radio station and request it played for his birthday. The DJ thought it was an odd choice for a birthday song lol, but he played it nevertheless. Back in the day this was sung often at graduations, funerals, awards ceremonies, etc. It was one of those songs that everyone could relate to in some way and Bette Midler did an awesome job.
My Mom always wanted this song played at her funeral... so I made sure her wish was granted and as a collage of photos of my mom's life played over a big screen, the song played in the background and at that moment, I LOST IT. She was my very best friend and I miss her everyday. July 12th will be one year without her physical presence.
Tanya Monk Hi Tanya! So sorry to hear about your mum! I lost my mum on 23rd January,2007! I miss her lots! We sang Amazing Grace at her funeral and now every time we sing it at church I totally lose it! I have several photos of her where I can see them! Every 25th July which was her birthday we light a candle and sing happy birthday! It helps to get us through! Take care and stay safe! From Australia.
Not sure who I first heard singing this song as many people recorded in the early 80's even Glady Knight , Shenna Easton , and Lou Rawls. Bette sing it for the movie Beaches. It about two girls who became friends after meeting one day at the beach. I have never cried as much as I did when watching this movie the first time. Back then It was about my best friend Diana. Now when I hear this song and watch this movie it's all about my Mom. Who left me last year to be with the rest of my ancestors.
I loved this movie. I cried watching this list now. My daughter's kindergarten class sang this to us moms on mothers day show back in 1995. I cried then too. I'm sappy
The thought of kindergarteners singing this song to moms is making me want to cry all over again. If they did that when my babydoll was in kindergarten I would've been a complete mess!
This is a song that I wanted played at my funeral dedicated to my sister Lisa. This song aways touches my heart. Bette Midler is one of a kind. She's hilariously funny and see can make you cry. One of me faves is "MOONLIGHT DANCING"
I wish I could give this a 1000 thumbs up. One of my favorite songs. This is one of the songs that was played when my husband & I renewed our wedding vows. He came walking out to this song in his Army officer dress blues, and he looked so handsome. I chose this song because he truly is my "Hero". I don't know who requested this song, but I'm glad you reacted to it. Thanks, Ty!
I just played this at my brothers funeral... it's suited him so perfectly... he was so shy but yet so friendly to everyone he knew... some days I'd have bad days n would pass people by but not him... a wonderful beautiful soul ... even when he got sick he'd smile n say how are you... I'm still grieving and I miss him so much but this song just described him xxx
The movie was set to take place I. Northern California, but the beach house scenes where a actually shot her at Chrystal Cove. There were arc Sever homes built righ in Chrystal Cove in the 30's & 40's. It is equestrian zone, so you can ride your hours Ed on the beach. During the making of the film, Bette, Barbara, even cast & crew would crux the beach Community. Super cool. I must of cried a river of tears, my best friend who had breast cancer vowed we' a take her to premier. Since we watched it being filled early sping. Dorothy made it to the premier. All 5 of us buddies giving our best bubbly support. She always supported my Hollywood days, when people said I was crazy, shed say DO IT GIRLFRIEND. YOUR FAN. AND I'M YOU BIGGEST FAN WELL. Turns out she was our hero we admired, her strength, courage. Heart full of love & support for each of us. Shed say it's God's plan. Go with the flow. That song" Wings Beneath Our Wings" is Dorothy's. Song. Did I mention Bette have us tickets for LA Priemer. The best times! Dorothy passed 5 weeks later. Blessings to us all with deep love in her heart. Beautiful friend. Perfect song. We were blessed. 🙇♀️😪🕊️💞✝️💓🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🙇♀️
I believe the radio. It makes me think about my mom. She's a strong Christian woman who has been through so much and still has a strong faith in God. She's one of my hereos. The movie is called"Beaches ." It's a really good movie.
Beaches was a awesome movie and it was a story between two friends through our their lives, their up and down.. Its a beautiful movie and the song fits it ... ... This would go to my friend Judy who has always been there for me ..
I think Bette Midler is such an amazing actress.....and she has a voice that really touches you. There are some singers with way more technical ability and smoother tone but fail where she excels - making you feel what she’s feeling in song.
love bette midler's voice. this was my song for my first husband who passed away at 37 yrs, old. we went thru so much, he was the wind beneath my wings. he made me who i am today. another good one from Berre Midler is The Rose from the same title movie. a lot of my friends used it as their wedding song. just awesome.
This is a sweet movie about best friends. I would tribute this to my sister. I am 63 and my sis is 65. She has always been there for me and she is my best friend. I am here crying and always do when I hear this song
I remember seeing this movie when it came out. My sister and mom took me to see it because they heard it was good. It was beautiful, sad, exciting, and heartbreaking. And those two ladies are the ones I'd dedicate the song Wind Beneath My Wings to. They've supported me through a whole lifetime of bs, and never once asked for recognition for the sacrifices, for the support, for the love they gave me. I was truly blessed when mom adopted me away from the biological parents.
Hi Ty, Ms. Bette Midler is a good singer but a great entertainer.. Beaches is a good movie.. Shoosh, don't tell anyone I can not watch the original (there is a remake) without crying.. W.G.
I heard this song for the first time in 1989 when I went to see this movie with my best friend. The movie is about childhood best friends who remain that way till the tragic death of one of them. Every time I hear the song “wind beneath my wings” I think of my mum who has been an inspiration and one of my heroes. She had such a generous, loving spirit and our home was always filled with love, laughter and amazing smells would drift from our kitchen. She instilled the love of cooking and baking in me and one of my favourite memories is of the two of us cooking or baking together.💕💕
My mother loves Beaches and I remember watching it with her as a child, it’s a very emotional film. This is one of Bette Midler’s best songs, along with “The Rose” and “From a distance” I would say those are the top three songs by Bette and they are all very powerful tunes.
The day of my mothers funeral (She died at age 50) the funeral scene of this movie with this song came on. My grandpa and I just looked at each other and smiled. ❤
We played this at my nephew's funeral he died young had a lot of medical issues started at 6 weeks failure to thrive which led to a host of other problems. My sister said this was his song cause he fought so many battles after he died my sister went and got her rn licence to honer him
I first heard this song... I don't know, probably the radio, then the movie. It was a popular song around the time the movie came out, and a while afterward, I was so tired of hearing it. However, it was one of my mother's favorite songs. We lost her in 2015 to cancer, I always think of her when I hear this song.
This was my cousins funeral song, her favourite film, I cry whenever I here it as it reminds me of the friend i lost 😢 beautiful song though my parents are my wings 😊
Sang this with my brother at my grandmothers 100th birthday. My daughter had it sung to me at her graduation one of my all time favorites but you must hear the Rose
Gary Morris did a Great version of this. My sister sang this song at my Aunt Heidi's funeral. RIP A song similar to this one done by Gary Morris is See The Love (She Found in Me). My Uncle sang that one at my wedding.
Bette Midler, the singer is also the actress with the red curly hair in the movie Beaches and in the music video you played. This song always makes me cry.
The movie "Beaches" makes me cry everytime I see it. I sing this occassionally for Karaoke...and I find it hard to not cry even then....its a GREAT soundtrack to get as well.

It’s a beautiful song, and Bette Midler’s version is the best in my opinion. I have sang that song at weddings and funerals.

Love this song and the movie made me cry buckets.
"From a Distance " is another beautiful, inspirational song.
Such a beautiful song. The movie was so sad. Another great song by Bette is called The Rose. You need to check it out 🤷
This is a song that I wanted played at my funeral dedicated to my sister Lisa.
Thanks, Ty!
She sings this song so awesome loved this song from day one.
I remember watching this movie this song still chokes me up.
This song helps me get through my grief, the loss of my soulmate 💔 😢
I just played this at my brothers funeral... it's suited him so perfectly... he was so shy but yet so friendly to everyone he knew... some days I'd have bad days n would pass people by but not him... a wonderful beautiful soul ... even when he got sick he'd smile n say how are you... I'm still grieving and I miss him so much but this song just described him xxx
The movie was set to take place I. Northern California, but the beach house scenes where a actually shot her at Chrystal Cove. There were arc
Sever homes built righ in Chrystal Cove in the 30's & 40's. It is equestrian zone, so you
can ride your hours Ed on the beach. YOUR FAN. AND I'M YOU BIGGEST FAN
WELL.
My wife picked this out as our song 30 years ago. Thanks for reminding me what a great pick it was.
I first heard it watching Beaches. I wanted to have it played at my mom’s funeral as she was my best friend❤️
Yep. Funeral song. Gives me all the feels. I sang this to my ma the day she died.
This song is for my dad who passed in 89 , he will always be the wind beneath my wings .
One of the movies I watch when I want to have a reason to cry.
I know this song from the movie Beaches. I would contribute this song to my grandfather because he was the best person I ever knew.
Hi Ty, Ms. Bette Midler is a good singer but a great entertainer.. Beaches is a good movie..
Shoosh, don't tell anyone I can not watch the original (there is a remake) without crying.. W.G.
Love this ..It was played at moms funeral ..Thanks for sharing ....God Bless
I heard this song for the first time in 1989 when I went to see this movie with my best friend. The movie is about childhood best friends who remain that way till the tragic death of one of them. Every time I hear the song “wind beneath my wings” I think of my mum who has been an inspiration and one of my heroes. She had such a generous, loving spirit and our home was always filled with love, laughter and amazing smells would drift from our kitchen. She instilled the love of cooking and baking in me and one of my favourite memories is of the two of us cooking or baking together.💕💕
Loved this movie!! Cried big time
I would recommend always watching a song live. It is so much better.
The Divine Miss M should have had a much bigger career. This particular song is my favorite. Aloha Miss M!
Beaches great movie. Bette Middler sings the most iconic songs in this movies. But then Beaches is a Iconic movie lol. It,s must watch.
My mother loves Beaches and I remember watching it with her as a child, it’s a very emotional film. This is one of Bette Midler’s best songs, along with “The Rose” and “From a distance” I would say those are the top three songs by Bette and they are all very powerful tunes.
This song is so beautiful. Always makes me cry. Great choice
Beautiful song. Saw this when I was a teenager. I think of my dad whenever I listen to it. I always tear up when I hear it.
That is the Divine Miss M!
The day of my mothers funeral (She died at age 50) the funeral scene of this movie with this song came on. My grandpa and I just looked at each other and smiled. ❤
"From A Distance" by Nancy Griffith,Bette Midler also did a version of it.It is a song for peace we could all use right now.
The movie is Beaches. We left the theaters looking like someone had punched us in the face!
Beaches makes me cry everytime. Classic
I don't think I've ever listened to this and not cried.
Sang this with my brother at my grandmothers 100th birthday. My daughter had it sung to me at her graduation one of my all time favorites but you must hear the Rose
Love this song. My mom passed on 12/25/2017 and it reminds me of her.
That's a young Mayim Bialick from Blossom. Bette Midler a song writer & actress!!! Good song.
From Blossom and The Big Bang Theory.
Gary Morris did a Great version of this. My sister sang this song at my Aunt Heidi's funeral. RIP A song similar to this one done by Gary Morris is See The Love (She Found in Me). My Uncle sang that one at my wedding.
I love this movie!
