I like how with the DK64 randomizer, if the security guards are placed in the world map, their "caught you" function works. It's cool to see that outside of the minigame
Fun fact, as a former speed runner of DK 64 101% the secret to Beaver bother is actually mashing B as fast as possible. You gotta really freaking mash others wise you gonna be stuck awhile. Think of it as those Mario party mini games haha. I hope I helped some of you😅
@@greendaleforeverThank you for adding the angle info, cuz I swear I always mash the B button like crazy - and I still would have trouble with Beaver Bother.
I love figuring out little tricks for some of the Bonus Barrel games. Some like Searchlight Seek and Big Bug Bash are interesting to me. All you would really need to do is keep your flyswatter/melon cannon focused near where you last hit your target, and it'll respawn close by and head in the same spot where the last target was killed.
Krazy Kong Klamour is actually one of the worst bonus stages if you're on Wii U virtual console Because the game was designed with the slowdown of N64 hardware in mind, it's impossible when sped up without save states.
@@TheLeetCasualGamer I play on retro arc and yes it is very hard you gotta flick to the right banana and you miss it gotta try again laughs. Sometimes you gotta just bite the bullet
Some bonus stages were good, some were hard and a few not my most favorite. But when i hear ”welcome to bonus stage” give me self-confidence to try again.
Okay, ya know that one where you have to shoot the snakes to keep the turtles balanced? I had a literal fever dream once about that one, and I woke up from my sick-haze going, "What the hell kind of randomness is my brain sending me?", while totally forgetting that that had been a real thing in my childhood. Like I say, high fever, so I was all confused like, "Okay, but how does it work with spinning turtles...?"
My favorite bonus stage is one you didn't discuss: Speedy Swing Sortie. Fairly simple, but so fun to quickly swing through the vines and grabbing coins. Regrettably, it is only played twice, which is a shame since there is a dummied out third variant which requires you to not only swing on vines to collect coins, but also avoid zingers flying around too. It would have been a fun challenge if it remained in.
Thanks to the "tag anywhere" mod, I tried Busy Barrel Barrage with Lanky and Tiny. Turns out, Lanky can't play it because his gun is too long and you have to be really good at shooting before the enemies get close. Tiny can't play because the arrows get stuck in the wall, and more objects create more lag.
There is unused version of stealthy snoop where you have to pick up coins before you can reach the finish. Its way harder than the base game ones and was added for a time in dk64 rando.
Minecart Mayhem with three minecarts would be impossible too often. Just imagine a situation where each cart is each of the three tracks, thus they're all aligned. An impenetrable wall you can't dodge around, because switching would still put you in the path of a bomb. That's it, you don't need any AI on the carts at all, just put them looped. That's all you need to make the game totally impossible, and it would come up enough that folk would totally refund the game if they could.
The fact that you can get 2 TNT carts to get directly in sync with each other, so it feels like there's only 1 cart, makes me thing it could be possible with 3.
i like beaver bother :3 its probably difficult because of the fact that the beavers have to be in a certain angle to the hole. in my recent playthrough i beat both difficult versions first try :o
2:44 I don’t know how my child brain made it in 2002 But I accidentally played once making the barrels merge while going at full speed and I always play it the same way.
Minecart Mayhem is mechanically similar to an old Atari 2600 game called Dodge 'Em, or a TI-99/4A game called Car Wars. The major gameplay differences were that you had to run over all the dots instead of surviving for a period of time, and you could change two lanes if you wanted.
I was definitely excited when I saw this video pop up. If there’s one thing the game definitely delivers on is the wide variety of bonus stage minigames. I already know which ones will be on the worst list. So I won’t mention those here. Lol Busy barrel barrage and mad maze maul are probably my favorite minigames in the whole game. Not joking when I say I could replay both of them like 30 times and I wouldn’t get bored. Maybe MMM is a little too easy because your just taking out enemies. Who doesn’t love bashing some Kremlings though? Lol Stealthy snoop is definitely another good one. It’s a shame that one only got two in the whole game. Similar to Mad Maze Maul. Totally agree with you there. The Hideout Helm minigames games were actually super fun and a refreshing thing to see. Like using Rambi to demolish a bunch of Kritters just feel so damn fun. 😂
Mad maze maul is definitely a good one! It can be real challenging at times too haha. Really love that Rambi is in a HH minigame! Like people were saying with the animal buddies video, those were great opportunities for more!
I actually don't mind Beaver Bother too much. The two back-to-back in Creepy Castle kinda sucked though. It feels very gratifying when you get them to fall in, but I will say that 60 seconds for 15 beavers is pretty tough. I feel like you should've been given more time OR 12 should be the hard variant. Oh well. Also, I don't think Krazy Kong Klamour is too bad of a name- I don't know if I would've ever thought KKK until seeing people say it on the internet lmao But everyone mentions it, so maybe I'm just dumb. I love the Minecart bonus rooms! I have some very old memories of SUCKING at Chunky's in the first level lol But on my most recent playthrough, I had a lot of fun. Three TNT barrels would've been crazy hard, dude.
Really solid list! Personally I like the one where you gotta help the banana fairies cross the klap traps that one’s a lot of fun for me as simple as it is.
I admit my favorite ones are the couple ones where you swing in the vines to collect the coins. Especially Tiny’s one. Krazy Kong Klamour, one I have seen so many people complain about. But I was always so good at it. I was always pretty good at mini games that required quick actions to.
It's good to have the variety of challenges! Yeah I've never really struggled with triple K either. I can understand it for emulation, but eh. It's fine on N64
@@superjoebros64 Yeah I heard it was impossible on Wii U. I always wanted to try and see if I could do it since I’m so good at reaction time mini games. But there was no point in buying it for Wii U when my N64 still works even 29 years later lol.

My guy, it's because the video hasn't been released yet. Thus the reason for showing the thumbnail for what's to come. These videos reference each other a lot, it's pretty impossible to make a schedule in a "chronological order."
I'd like to see what you think about the other bonus activities such as the minecart stages in Jungle Japes, Fungi Forest, and Creepy Castle, or the racing events found in various forms and locations. Growing up, I always wanted to know what it was like to do each of them, but I think one of my family members had taken those Bananas before I could even reach the minecart stage, and I couldn't quite reach the one for Diddy as a kid, so I just waited til I was an adult playing on emulator to see for myself.
I actually like the first 2 beaver bothers cause there's more than enough time to complete if you play well. It's the one in Creepy Castle that is a pain in the ass.
For Krazy Kong klamour, I always had to cheese the last one by pausing the game right as the lights came back on so I can react in time when I unpaused it.
Good list! I never could get into Minecart Mayhem, but I can see why people like it. It always was a frustrating one to me as a kid. I'm curious if there is an N64 emulator where you can artificially add lag to allow Krazy Kong Klamour to be actually playable. Though, I remember _hating_ Splish-Splash Salvage as kid as I couldn't adjust to the swimming controls, so I would keep swimming past coins and getting hit by starfish! 😅
Oh wow, I'm really curious too. Not sure! I do not like Splish Splash Salvage at all! The coin above the water and the top to climb up to it doesn't spawn until after collecting all the coins in the water. I just find that to be a bad design
To me, the best Bonus Stage Barrels were the ones that Snide didn't unlock. The ones where you could see and play as the Kongs that entered the barrel. Yes, that counts the Minecraft Mayhem and Splish-Splash Salvage. I remember how disappointed I was when none of those mini-games were unlocked by Snide.
