5:25 Another reason a lot of people don't like translucent plastic is because if it's not dark enough, or done right/too cheaply evidently, is that it's known to be quite frail and will spontaneously break with no outside influence. At least GPS prone plastic is fine if you leave it be...
I only like clear windows if it’s in live action studio series figures since most often the cars are real life cars I see on the road but for g1 I think painted over is fine especially for integral part of transformation. Ex : ss86 jazz
Love this set, I am really thinking I need to get it. I have reveal the shield Jazz and Wheeljack. So it would be nice to update them to their more accurate counterparts. Also Sunstreaker, Trailbreaker and Hound would be a nice bonus. I also wanna say, thank you for your last thoughts on the insanity that occurred this past weekend. I feel the same exact way. Been watching you for what it seems like, maybe 15 years(?) Not quite sure, but its been a long time. Take care of yourself, dude, and keep up the good work as always.
This set is amazing! It's a great collection of the G1 Transformers, upgraded too! Hound has always been my favorite, and it's great to see him in better colors, I still have the Siege version and even bought the Walmart G1 reissue not long ago. Thanks for this amazing review, Paul!
Awesome review, I needed all of these figures, but not because I didn’t get the Earthrise versions. My Earthrise Sunstreaker had really bad mismatched color, my Earthrise Trailbreaker is yellowing, Earthrise Wheeljack’s off white always bothered me and I never got Jazz because the horror stories of the clear plastic breakage. What upset me most was Trailbreaker yellowing. I have never seen a black plastic toy turn copper after a single year without being in the sunlight, or any light for that matter. All of my figures are stored in the dark and several from the Earthrise/Kingdom era have yellowed. Disappointing Hasbro! Btw, Sunstreaker never came with a weapon, sniper rifle, originally. He only came with that exhaust piece that sits on his roof. I like that Wheeljack and Sunstreaker came with guns this time around.
Love the Jazz figure, mostly because the cringe backpack of death is gone. LOVE the Sunstreaker. I missed out on the Kingdom, or Earthrise, or whatever it was version, so hands down this is the figure out of this set I most love. Now... Trailbreaker, Wheeljack, and Hound... I actually vastly prefer the original versions. Yes, I realize they're less cartoon accurate, but I think they simply look better. Earthrise Wheeljack is just gorgeous with all his decals and detail and racing stripes. He's paying homage to the original toy more than the animation look, but he's close enough to the cartoon look that it doesn't bother me in the slightest. It really is close enough. This new Wheeljack is super clean, and very animation accurate, but he's also really bland looking, especially in alt mode. Almost pure white with no detail of any kind. I can't get over how cool Earthrise Wheeljack looks in alt mode by comparison. Trailbreaker is a bit more of a mixed bag - the new blue windows look great on him, and he doesn't really lose anything, but I prefer how deeply piano black the original Trailbreaker figure is. With the chrome accents. This new figure is light grey on dark grey and I just think it looks less premium. Hound looks awesome... from the front. I love the new coloring and animation accurate design, it is really gorgeous, but his super thin torso and hollow back _really_ bug me. Like a lot. Also Siege hound, though not G1 accurate, is just such a good looking figure. Like Earthrise Wheeljack I love all the detail and trim work on Siege hound. In the end I passed on this set. It costs too much now to justify when most of the figures are sidegrades or minor upgrades. I did order the Sunstreaker figure from this set off a ebay from a seller who broke the set up, because I still needed a Sunstreaker and this one is gorgeous, but unless I see a pretty good deal, or I get to the point where all I'm missing to have every G1 perfect is Hound, I think I'll be skipping this set for now.
Just ordered mine the only one I had was jazz and the horrible Netflix damaged Wheeljack that looks like he ran through a fire. The Sunstreaker and Trailbreaker were the ones with stupid high prices in the online aftermarket plus the new Hound and (Solid Painted Windows)make me feel like i got a good deal.
5:13 so I don’t care either way (for the blue painted windows or clear plastic windows. Except when the plastic is weak and can break (clear plastic is more likely to have that happen but if the painted plastic is weak then what’s the difference?) and for uniformity across my toys. I’d actually prefer the clear plastic windows it it were just the windows like on the original G1 Optimus Prime toy but Hasbro makes the whole part clear plastic and that’s is not good and much worse. Due to having to try to color match the plastic parts and that never works. So painting the windows works best.
Don’t sweat the sniper rifle comment. We understand you’re just talking about Transformers and aren’t making any political statements. We come to watch the videos to get a break from reality. No need to apologize.
That black gun didn't come with the original WfC Sunstreaker. He only had that handheld engine thing he dropped 73% of the time. Does anybody know what it is?
The black gun looks like it might have come with that red Cog (Target exclusive) or maybe that PoTP Fembot mold? Definitely not one that came from Sunstreaker.
I think I prefer them over cartoon powder blue. But that plastic is so prone to cracking I think we're better off with the painted windows just so these can last.
@carlbumpkin7963 I mean i get it, so far mine are OK, but yeah there's lots of issues with the clear plastic. I wish they could paint the windows better or differently somehow because the flat powder blue doesn't do it for me
@@sigmadead Yeah like some sort of metallic tinged blue? I could truck with that. My Bluestreak's canopy broke. My one trouble with clear plastic so far. But I fear my Jazz.
@carlbumpkin7963 I could roll with that blue too. Even a reflective slate Grey/silver or blue I think might be cool. Sorry to hear that about your bot, tho. I guess I've just been lucky
IT'S LITERALLY ALL THE ONES I NEED TO FINISH MY SEASON 1 AUTOBOT DISPLAY
That transition was flawless no need to worry. 👍
What transition?

@@carlbumpkin7963 I’d say he was more of a Trailfaker.

I like clear windows, but I'm more for the toy look than cartoon look. Still I got them all.
There's something about powder blue windows that's just nostalgic.
I don't know, I like this set versus the toys.
Pretty decent set. Will replace my Earthrise figures. Wonder if they plan on doing a set of the Decepticon Seekers
