Starting a New Border with Perennials from my Holding Bed

- My perennial holding bed still contains a number of perennials that I started last year from seed. It needs to be emptied out so that I can start filling it up again with perennial seedlings from this years winter sowing containers so today, I'm transplanting a bunch of the holding bed plants into a brand-new perennial border that I'm creating.
Happy gardening!

Thrilled to find your UA-cam! Gardening in Southern Ont. In a 5b(ish) zone too! Thanks for taking us along you gardening journey 😊 love the idea of having a holding bed.
Thank you! Always happy to meet a fellow gardener from Southern Ontario 😃
Always exciting starting a new flower border. Is the garden going to be viewed from both sides or one side. Bonny
It is! This border is primarily going to be viewed from the side I'm working on, esp. as the false cypress grow bigger. That will take a while, though, as they are slow growing, so I am planning on filling in the gaps primarily with perennials - just haven't got that far yet!
@@TheGardeningMe Good to know. You're off to a great start Margaret. Bonny
Hi Margaret,
This video offers a lot of inspiration. Your process is interesting - and a lot more effective than my usually haphazard approach. For your perennial holding bed, do you have to provide any protection to the young plants over the winter?
Thanks! I don't use any protection on them over the winter - I basically treat them as if they were in the regular garden.
Thanks.
