I actually enjoy the layout of Desert Race. It's repetitive, but I got airtime on the hills and some force on the turns. I also think I visited on a warmer day judging by the people in sweatshirts.
@@ThemeParkAvenue U have to ride the Coaster on a warm Summer Day at the evening when the Track and the wheels are heated up. Its an Amazing experience ofc the first half of the Coaster is the best and it slows down after that part. But the last 3 Airtime hills are great again if u throw urself up a little and the Monster with the Fire is the Cherry on Top. Its 100% the best Wooden Coaster in Germany.
Unfortunately, Merlin didn't do Colossos any good! I still remember my last rides before they closed the coaster for 3 years. Unfortunately, all the trims slow the train down quite a bit... At that time you still had real ejectors on the camlebacks!
Just went this year and pretty much agree completely with your thoughts, loved colossus, the bobsled shocked me, Flug der Daemonen was excellent, desert race is kinda pointless other than the launch and Just today on Instagram someone asked what peoples least favourite dive coaster is and I had put Krake
Desert racer is a clone of Rita at Alton Towers. I would agree with what you said the launch is excellent the rest is decent. I think Rita trims even more than this, the ride comes to a complete stop there on Rita
I have fond memories of Heide-Park. I say you're bang on the money. Flug der Daemonen and Colossos are excellent, Bobbahn is great fun, Krake and Desert Race are not the best in their genre. Big Loop was not as bad as you've been told, I thought that was good fun. I even recall the SLC being perfectly rideable. I also agree that Heide-Park feels more corporate and "Merlin-y" (having worked at Merlin I know well just how corporate and commercial they are) compared to so many other European parks. That's the only downside, as the park is quite beautiful. I have to ask, though. Out of all the parks in the Netherlands, Slagharen?
The lineup reminds me alot of great adventure. Best coasters being intamin prefabs with supporting casts of intamin accelerators and decent but not insane b&ms
It's interesting hearing your opinons on the rides, like when I was there last summer I got some fantastic floater airtime on Krake's bunnyhill for example and I personally wasn't the biggest fan of Bobbahn either. Also, as someone who has never been to the US, how would you say Colossos compares to El Toro? Is it like a little brother/big brother sorta comparison or are they wayy different?
Colossos used to be an awesome ride.. Absolute ejector airtime machine.. For like a few weeks or months after opening.. Then they added trim brakes, and that made it very tame... I'm still upset about this, because it used to be so damn good and no one will ever experience the awesome ride it used to be again...
The problem was the cost. They basically costs over 35M in the 2000s, probably 45-55M in today's money. So they were SUPER expensive, even speaking around the time of the stock market crash (3 yrs before and after 2008)
@Enzo Discovery thats..two rides, plus the companies overdo it with the goddamn theming. It may be worth it, but no other ride would ever go past the $50M mark unless it had to do with the setting. I'm pretty sure wasting at least $50M is something Disney and Universal would do. Probably due to the setting and how much it would cost just for them to add theming.
They all cost far too much. El toro cost over 30 million dollars, when it originally was supposed to cost 25 million. It cost more than kingda ka, the worlds tallest rollercoaster. Thats why there aren't more.
honestly, the best part about this park is the theming and atmosphere created by the soundtracks. IMO this park still has the best atmosphere of any park i've been to
The reason those playground slides were so thrilling as opposed to ones in the US, and why there was no fencing around the lake, is because Germany doesn’t have the tort laws we have. Lawyers here.
Desert Race is a clone of Rita at Alton Towers in the UK. I would say by looking at the ride Rita has better theming also rita goes 0-60 Mph In 2.8 Seconds. But what you said about Desert Race I would say the coaster it self is the same forces as i have rided Rita and from hearing what your saying the coaster forces are the same. but the theming of Rita is better than Desert Race
My ranking of the Heide Park coasters 1. Flug der Dämonen 2.Limit 3.Collosus ( didn't do it for me till the turnaround amazing and then completely dies because of trims and boring layout maybe instead of a retrack calling RMC might have been the better and cheaper choice) 4.Bobbahn 5.Desert Race 6.Krake I'll let the minetrain and kiddie coaster out And big loop was already closed early June when I was there
I didn't find it bad for a SLC not to rough specially with the new restains, and collosus just didn't deliver for me for their standout ride. But in general my day at Heide Park wasn't to great and I won't visit it again as long as they don't get a new major coaster.
Heide park wasn't that great on my mini germany trip. Colossos was fantastic (best wooden coaster I've ridden), FDD is my favourite wing coaster and Desert race has the best launch I've ever done. The rest is quite average. I had one incident at Krake where I was queueing for the front row together with my boyfriend but this employee started yelling at us for not taking the middle row (I think she might've been homophobic). So then my bf showed his middle finger and then he had to leave the queue, there was a discussion, etc. He couldn't ride, but they understood the situation so we didn't have to leave the park. This experience kinda left a bad taste in my mouth when talking about Heide park.
@@CoasterDash since my edgy comment caught your eye I might as well ask you if you are visiting walibi holland, toverland or phantasialand because I’m going next week

It’s the same layout basically as Rita.
Desert Race is a kickass ride. Short ride, short Queue, intense Launch AND intense Layout! I always like Getting on it
I love the theming elements of this one. If it’s not a painful ride it could be one of the best wooden coasters out there.
It’s one of the smoothest wooden coasters out there but has an extremely weak middle and end.
@@CoasterDash that’s a shame, but maybe I would enjoy those parts more than you.

Slagharen was a quick 2-hour stop the next day, as it’s located directly on the way to some of the larger parks we’d be visiting in the Benelux

El Toro and Colossos are way different. the intensity of the former obliterates Colossos.

Another W vlog from Marc! Great video man! The Intamin prefabs look insane!
Thank you!!
By the Family logic, Colossos is actually El Toro's Uncle because it opened before El Toro did.
Yea I was planning on visiting this park next year! I only get one theme park on my trip so unfortunately I think I'm choosing Phantasialand
That’s the right choice for sure.
I wish there were more Intamin pre-fabs out there. They all look so good, it's a shame that Intamin seems to pretty much be exclusively steel now.

That would’ve been so unreal.
In two weeks I'll be riding El Torro for the first time. Hopefully it lives up to the hype unlike Maverick and Magnum XL.
