As a local born, I've noticed that alot of people seems completely oblivious to the fact that Hawaii is actually one giant military base. The bases take up more area than you think, explains why traffic and over crowding is a big issue here
I have family in Oahu and visit every other year. Your traffic is not that bad. It’s just seems that way if you live in Hawaiian only. Most of my family work swing shift or graveyard so they don’t have traffic.
For me, the cons overwhelm the pros. I was born in Hawaii, but left. One of the cons that you didn't mention is job opportunities and this was the deal breaker for me. I don't think that there are many in the technical field who will move to Hawaii, except when they retire or want a vacation home.
I totally understand where you are coming from. I am nearly almost done with college and I dont know what Hawaii has to offer when it comes to my field. I'll most likely live somewhere else for a while but, you know, Hawaii is always my home so I'll come back eventually.
You are at the point in life where I was 65 years ago. The Hawaii I remember is gone and resides only in my memory. I live in Central Texas where I am happy except for the weather, but with air conditioning, it is not a big deal. FYI, I have poi in the freezer and canned red salmon and tiny oil sardines in the pantry.
I agree..I'm a developer and have California wages but I decided to come here to look for opportunities..they pay so much less except it's more expensive..how is that?
I moved here 10 years ago because of the job opportunities and now own my own business, met my beautiful Filipino wife, and this is and always will be home for me. Job opportunities are going to be an issue anywhere you go, it comes down to how bad do you really want something? If you want it bad enough, you will make it happen. Trust me, nobody believed in me and all said I wouldn't make it here and would be moving back home, I've been to the lowest of the lows, I've met my beautiful wife and own a business, I guess my point is, if I made it than anybody can. You just have to want it. Much love and aloha.
I've lived in Hawaii (Oahu) my whole life as well -born and raised! You've definitely hit the top pros and cons. Although the bumper-to-bumper traffic is rough, I am so grateful to have grown up in such a beautiful place with loving people and ONO grindz! Great video! (:
Nikki Deleon lol the last few tsunamis are always around 3 feet high and not often at all. But the major con that is a huge one amongst my friends is that the humidity is unbearable, it's like when you open an oven, and it's humid day and night from July to mid November, and not much pretty open land that you can run on, only mountains. I legit get excited when I travel see lots of land 😆
anywhere is gonna have its problems! I live in california and am thinking of moving to honolulu and I am fine with the tsunami stuff- we have 3.5 earthquakes on a monthly basis because we live on a fault line, and we just had power out for three days because of fire warnings.
Some con's missing: 1) Homelessness is rampant, 2) Govt. is one party monopoly, largely corrupt, and controlled by unions, lowest voter turnout in nation due to frustration that nothing changes. 3) Police Chief, City Prosecutor, and Corporate Counsel are/have been investigated by the Feds...no City or State accountability along with high taxes and fees. 4) Brain drain, Hawaii has a net migration out of state due to high cost of living and poor paying jobs. In general the public school and University system are below average. Hawaii has the most private school students per capita in the nation. 5) Tsunami's were mentioned, but Jonalyne forgot to mention hurricanes which have become much more prevalent and stronger as of late. Also way less trade wind days replaced with super humid (high dew point) weather. 6) Lastly, crime has gotten much worse in recent years, the police and criminal justice system cannot handle. In short great place to vacation, but different if you live there. Spent fifty years there now retired on the mainland (sun belt).
I go to Hawaii almost every year and I've been to all the island except Molokai. It's the culture, beaches, scenery, and the aloha spirit that's keep pulling me back to the island. I would definitely like to live in Hawaii, and work remotely from there.
Fr...ppl need to understand that u can't just move there Willy nilly hoping to find a small apartment near the beach and a job at Burger King lmao there are literally few to none jobs available - the grocery's are CRAZY expensive and ur willing to suffer through all this for the aesthetic??? Lmao once I get rich I'mma move there
@@misoasoda340 Been living here on The Big Island (Hawaii Island aka Hawaii) in Hilo for 5 years now. Lovely house by the cliff and the decor and locale are to-die-for.
But high cost of housing negates low property tax. Sales tax is only 4.5% but regressive. Hawaii is one of the worst states for taxes and fees.@Teddy James
My dad was Army and I lived in Honolulu for a few years. You’re 100% right on all the pros and cons, but it is WORTH IT. It’s expensive, but at least it’s not an expensive hellhole like Los Angeles is turning into. It’s isolating in terms of location, but you’re not alone due to the friendly people. I still keep in touch with our old neighbors who would give fruit from their backyard to me and my sister. Whenever I go to Honolulu, they insist on me staying with them and they treat me like a daughter. And I’m gonna say that I’ve never felt afraid for my safety in Hawaii, and I’ve never had to deal with racial discrimination there. Living in NC after my dad got transferred was so jarring in that respect. I’ve been followed in the store because people assumed I was a criminal. I wouldn’t be nervous about interacting with cops in HI.
My family absolutely loves Oahu ! My wife and I 1st came for our honeymoon, courtesy of my sister and her husband's generosity, they live in Kailua, we fell in love with Hawaii almost as soon as we walked off the plane. Living our entire lives on the mainland we instantly saw the diffrence in not only the beautiful landscape but the culture there, as you said in the video everyone is so friendly and nice there, and a family atmosphere for sure ! After a few visits and bringing our 2 sons there for their 1st time last year ( they also immediately fell in love with Hawaii too) we have decided along with some prodding from my sister to move to Oahu permanently and raise our children there, I agree that it's the best place to grow up, the atmosphere is just so much better, the people are so much friendlier and kinder there and we want our kids to enjoy that lifestyle. Thank you for posting this video as you are absolutely spot on with your points👍 the traffic on the H1 does suck 🤣🤣🤣 but thats not enough to deter us from living in paradise 😍
1.4 million people on 7 habited islands (one inhabited), not all on one island. Oahu has less than a million people for around 400.000 in Honolulu. Thanks for the video.
@@jjxmahal No, you shouldn't have known that. Lol The average person is not walking around fact checking on population numbers, like it's a school paper or something. They are trippin. 😂🤙🏽
Hard to find jobs here brah.. pretty tight job market that really heavily rides on manual labor. Keeping friends can be hard, people underestimate what it takes to live here and are always leaving. Do your research and know what you’re getting into before you just up and leave your life on the mainland. It’s definitely possible to live here as a young adult on your own but if you don’t come here for the right reasons it will never work out. Hope this helps haha don’t mean to be majorly negative
Avery Ford what would be your tips? If you don’t mind taking the time my biggest dream was to move there but I hear a lot about it being very expensive and the bugs and it discourages me 😔
@@erijma9715 eh it's fine as a local I can confirm tsunamis may be terrifying but shit man we all be sleeping or probably not even paying attention cause Let's be honest if it does we can't exactly go anywhere anyways plus the planes by then would be crowded and pact and just yeah probably not enough or even time to get out before the tsunami hits Plus you'd have to book a flight to leave 😩 oh and.not.only that most of then usually end up as "Tsunami warning magnitude of 8.0" Then a few hours later "False alarm" Or "David ige forgot his password" But lmao anyways Japan's tsunamis though are way scarier to be fair But.hope I wasn't rude some.people probably be riding the tsunami wave tbh OH to be fair too Hawaii did have a tsunami back in the 1980s or smtthn like that :D Again hope I wasn't rude we all make jokes about it cause it's fine it been there done that y'know :D again hope I wasn't rude!!!
Thank you for this. I’m moving out there in 3-5 years. I’ve been there several times and love it. I’ve even made friends that are ohana to me now. This makes me feel better about the move. I’m an ER nurse so jobs should be ok to find out there. Mahalo.
i think you hit it right on the button, i lived in Hawaii for 20 years, i m back on the mainland now, i miss the weather the aloha spirit, every thing is close just like you said, everything is expensive just like you said, the traffic is a drag, i lam on going back as soon as i retire, i just hope i still like it as much as when i left.great video.
I heard from other videos also 3 others cons. 1) Rat lungworm disease: So basically eating raw greens can be really dangerous. 2) Jobs are lower paid and less choice. So basically living is more expensive than in most parts of the mainland but jobs pay on average less. 3) Public school system is really bad and families try to put their kids in private schools, which of course cost a lot. Wondering how true these problems are but rat lungworm and less paid jobs are quite a fact.
You're completely right...1) it's not as much as a problem anymore, but yes always be careful about what you are eating, 2) yes, a lot of jobs are centered towards the tourism industry and those are not usually require some type of degree (and companies prefer hiring people out of state), and 3) I mean to a certain extent, many kids are happy going to public/charter school, while others, whose families are fortunate to be able to do so, are in private school mostly for the college perp.
FYI Rat lungworm is only found on Big Island really. So yes If you farm or eat produce (not just raw greens. Most produce found locally) wash your veg thoroughly! (You should be doing that anyway though right?) also there are way more issues here esp these days than a parasite & job problems. But it is a beautiful place to live if you can cut it. Somehow my broke ass has lived here for 15 years! If it’s a dream Of yours to live in HI, do it! But yes, the saying is true , ‘you pay the price to live in paradise’ whether you buy local (expensive) or buy groceries in the store (think about it, your foods & goods had to touch how many hands and sit on a tanker to cross how many oceans to get to an island...) nothing is cheap here. Except Aloha, that’s free. & don’t let anyone tell you it’s Dead
A local Hawaiian here.... that siren part made me laugh!!!😆 That's what we hear EVERY first business day of the month around noon with their monthly testing. Don't matter if you in school, at home, driving, or at work... you GONNA here it!
My friend has Mozambique parents so he is black he was born in Hawaii in Honolulu he told me it’s weird being black he said they aren’t racist but he felt weird cause most people were Asian or Polynesian and he only knew 8 black people
you did very well... i just moved here to Aiea, hawaii from austin tx. its been quite an adjustment. traffic is INSANE here. but then you head over to the peacefulness of ala moana beach and its just soooooo. aaaahhhhhhhhh. good job young lady.
I live in the Ala Moana area ... walking distance to everything ... Ala Moana Center, Ward Center, Blaisdell Concert Halls, multiplex movie theaters, Chinatown... who needs a car? There’s always The Bus!
I've been thinking about moving, Hawaii has been pulling on my heart, idk what to do, all i breath is smoke and fire! OREGON! I got to go!!! Aloha i come!!!!!
Been to Hawaii 7x. I have an opportunity to move to the big island. I love oahu, but too much traffic and crazy drivers. Let's see what the big island has to offer.
Dirk Digler big island is bad with the VOG from the volcano. I wouldn’t recommend there at the moment. Places that are free from vog on that island would be in waikaloa, Waimea, kohala and most of Hilo. Kona gets the vog worst. Big island is more layed back but, it’s getting more and more crowded there with each year that passes.
Dirk Digler traffic is the same but being that there’s no rush disregard the traffic....the drives are mesmerizing....I’ve been to Honolulu, it’s different from the big Island...it’s paradise....don’t think twice , just do it....visit all the Islands and choose the one you really fit in....all Islands are beautiful....good luck
I think If you are going to do a UA-cam show about Hawaii you should include the whole state and not just one island, otherwise you should just do a video about a O'ahu. Other than that I enjoyed your video
I''m from Toronto. Population of almost 8M. Lots of job opportunity but people always want more. Are your job skills marketable? Something some people don't really think through. Some one starting out after graduating from high school? With no college education? I can see how the job prospects would be low. Harder to choose. Forcing many to take what they can get. Even living in Honolulu. As mentioned, I think it's easier if you're already somewhat established. Worked for 10-15 years maybe on the mainland. Returned to Hawaii with marketable skills. There are only so many major hospitals, banks...are there any IT firms? Maybe not. Except the odd software firm. I wonder if some employers take advantage of the fact that people can't really pick and choose...and maybe not offer as high an annual income as they would have gotten on the mainland. I think there's only one medical school. So even as a professional it can be limiting job wise too. Having to open their own practice or work for one of a few major hospitals. Not sure how many there are in Oahu (e.g. Honolulu). People need to be aware of the lifestyle. That it's more laid back in general. More so off Oahu. That if some one wants to buy a Porsche or Ferrari..there's only one dealer. Only on Oahu. So if some one has bought a nice home on Maui...they'd need to ship the car...if it needs servicing...hassle. Only 3-4 dealerships on Maui. Great for vacations and retiring (if wealthy...never have to worry about income). Multiculturalism. One of the most diverse in the US and mostly very welcoming for people of colour. I heard there is a little resentment towards white people due to history. Wonder how Hawaiians truly feel towards tourists. Being that I'm sure many will take advantage of the "Aloha Spirit". Maybe throwing their weight around. Being less than respectful because they know they can get away with it. Please do more videos. Love to hear more of your impressions of life in Hawaii from some one raised there.
To beat traffic going to Honolulu is bad from morning until 0930 on weekdays. After 0930 there is little to no traffic. In the evening traffic going away from Honolulu start getting bad around 3-7pm weekdays. There is little traffic to North Shore daily unless it’s weekend and people are heading to beaches.
A lot of these cons really only apply to Oahu, where Honolulu is. Traffic is hardly a problem on the other islands, and the cost of living is a lot more reasonable on the Big Island, but unfortunately there's way fewer opportunities there as well. That all being said...I'm working on moving there by next year
Hawaii is such a amazing place I was supposed to go in 4 days to visit my family but corona ruined it. I wished my mom and dad stayed in Hawaii but they got to move. I feel more at home at Hawaii than my actual home
Hahaha the electricity used to go out all the time in 68 and 69 and this was on Portlock Road. Lots of rain, we got out the kerosene lamps a lot. And, the shipping strike in the early 70s, ugh. "SugarTwin" anyone?
Moved to Kona in "77 I was 19 . It was a fun place for a young man. I literally played my whole life fishing , hunting , chasing girls. At 55 I discovered Japans beauty. So stimulating and inspiring , educational and challenging. Young people!! Leave your home town and experience the world. Learn how. Learn another language. Forget about careers and travel, Opportunity will come to you. Just have fun.
Surfing, fishing, hiking, snorkeling, eating lau lau, kalua pig, musubi, podagee sausage, and malasadas haha 😋! Thanks for da great video sista 🤙🏽 aloha!
I lived on Oahu 97-2001 (Schofield Barracks). I lived in mililani. I will say it’s super expensive, even then. I bought all my groceries on post, pumped gas on the various bases, which saved me a lot of money. I experienced very little to no discrimination, and embraced my role as a “Haole.” The traffic up on H1 going into Honolulu/Waikiki was pretty aweful in the morning, but I rarely made that trip (Military right). Parking up at the big 3 in north shore was always god aweful, but the surfing was worth it! I do miss manapua with the red pork. I do miss the beach. I’ve considered moving back, but not sure if my income would be enough there now. The good thing is that I’m young and retired, so I would have to find work.
My experience having lived in Hawaii for over 40 years and driven in the traffic for 30, was that you put on your turn signal and people speed up to prevent you from changing lanes... at least on Oahu.
@Jonalyne Joy Great video. But a correction to your statement at 3:10 "Imagine 1.4 million people in one tiny island". Back in 2016, it was 1.4 million in the State of Hawaii, on all the islands, but under 1 million in Honolulu County, the island of Oahu, where I would guess you live at.
Lived in Honolulu for more than 3 years. Pros: The island climate, environment and coastline are why you love it. Cons: The people are overworked and underpaid. Most people work two to three jobs to make ends meet. Palpable feeling of isolation. A lot of people live with their parents, or visa versa. Nepotism, cronyism and classism at its worst. Chinese, Caucasians and Japanese (some Korean) hold admin positions and real estate. Filipinos, Samoans hold "rank & file" positions; construction, tourism and service. Hawaiians, Portuguese, Micronesians and others fill in the gaps. There is an ongoing social struggle to stifle change for fear that a class will be left behind while the population of Oahu rises. You can actually buy a home (structure), but not own the land it is built upon (Leasehold and Fee Simple). Aloha!
I'm planning to move there. All the cons are only in certain circumstances. Yes if you live in Honolulu and commute to work it will be expensive and heavy traffic. But the Big Island is not like that..at least as much.
Ok I’m torn. I love hiking and everything about the Hawaii island living and culture, but tsunamis have always scared the living crap out of me. Especially being as anxious as I am. But especially living in a vary bland state like Delaware there really no natural disasters so I’ve never experienced that. (Someone please help me🥺)
Dont rule out the big island if you guys decide to visit Hawaii. Great island with so many adventures, less developed, and no crazy traffic. And awesome video. Love this and oahu as well!
I'm from Sydney but my dad is Hawaiian so I've been there a couple times visiting my family and it's definetly such an amazing place! It's also great to surf in Hawaii, specifically Waikiki beach or canoes (I hope I spelled it right) , and I love the weather there! Australian weather is great too but I literally die in winter 😬 I just think that I would get bored to always be at the same spot, for example this year we made a road trip from Sydney to Melbourne visiting some other relatives and then we went to Alice Springs and it was a great experience to get to see so much of Australia since it's a huge and beautiful country, and as you said in Hawaii you can't make road trips cause you would just get to see the same thing everytime, you always need to take a plane to go to the mainland for a road trip, so I think for now I'd rather stay in Australia and visit Hawaii for vacation! love it there though
i wanna live in hawaii when i’m older. i love the idea of diversity and good vibes:) everyone treating each other like family, that’s amazing!! plus to me, staying in one place would be totally okay as long as i have a rad group and friends and the love of my life with me!! oh god PLEASE let me be a surfer girl in oahu!!
im from oahu and there will be some terrible people here but dont mind it just remeber to treat another local with respect and come here with an open mind willing to try things and learn our culture thats what we locals and hawaiian (whether kanaka or not) we love it when people wanna learn more its great! >< -froma a rnadom local have a good day and mahalo! oh and lastly please dont move but visit we are already overpopulated
So the PROs add up to basically great scenery. The CONs are substantial. Being isolated, everything is extremely expensive, heavy traffic as you say and always worried that you'll be swept away the next hurricane season. Id say Hawaii is a great place to visit but not to live. And BTW- if you think a 23 mile drive taking 30-40 min is traffic, come to NYC where a 23 Mile drive can take at least 2 hours and give me your thoughts on traffic.
I know Oahu has the big population but there’s also Maui and the big island which I imagine means little traffic. I’ve always thought it would be nice living there…
Hi! Jonalyne Joy: I heard your talk about Hawaii, my conclusion is that Hawaii is wonderful but without you, it is not.So, keep being beautiful as you are. Bye! or Aloha!
Gas on some islands can be close to 5 dollars a gallon but, most places in Hawaii are around 3.90usd up to 4.50usd or more. If you come to Hawaii for vacation, have a nice gas budget for your stay. Don’t forget to bring your dslr camera and/or a Gopro Hero to take pictures and video with.
1.4 million Do NOT live on Oahu. Just under a million live on Oahu. About 175k live on the big island, 145k live on maui, 66k live on kauai, 7k live on molokai. The other 3 islands dont have notable populations numbers.
Hawaii prices are much more than Bay Area, considering we pay much more in food/groceries. Also job oppurtunities and pay in the mainland is quite higher than Hawaii. An engineer here in HI, would make 55-60k starting salary, where in Cali you make 80-100k starting. That's a huge difference. You get higher bang for the buck in the mainland also. Also residents do have the Aloha spirit but it does start to wear a little thin due to homeless population growing, thefts, corrupt politicians, traffic, too much tourists. It may take 30 mins to drive 20 miles but during traffic time it takes 1.5 hr to actually drive that distance.
I live in San Francisco and Honolulu and the prices are about the same in both cities ...The property taxes in San Francisco is almost x4 of what it is in Hawaii - if you buy a $1M home in S.F., your taxes are $12k ... in Hawaii it’s $3K and that includes garbage pick up!
Your - Pros is not what seems. / BUT YOUR - Cons IS VERY CORRECT !! It's just because you are grateful you don't live in the Philippines. It's much cheaper there they have poverty but they make it, and are still smiling @!
I feel like Hawaii is a big Australia. You should visit here coz maybe you could imagine living here. Plenty of different beaches nothing like Hawaii beaches, we are super diverse (in most states) and its a huge island so seeing everything in one lifetime is super difficult.
Food and beaches and views. Cons: price, traffic, and can get boring real fast after you go to every place but honestly if you are outgoing and have people to chill with on the island. You can have a great time. It's unfortunate that we can drive to other places like the mainland lol cuz I like exploring too. I would retire in hawaii especially like hawaii kai because they have amazing houses.
In Oahu, expensive housing, commute is a nightmare if you work in town and live in the suburbs. One has to be a high paid professional or a successful business owner to enjoy the benefits of living there. Otherwise you gotta share living spaces with a bunch of relatives to minimize the costs. After a while it gets to you. If you’re not wealthy, Hawaii’s not for you. The scenery’s great though.

I’m from Germany and moved to Hawaii and it’s beautiful 🌺🌴
Cool, was machst du dort? Ich würde da auch gerne leben...
Mind sharing more information? Like how did u do it??

Spent fifty years there now retired on the mainland (sun belt).
jesus 💀 you literally changed my whole view on Hawaii
You are a Republican so your words are not important
@@Horror666Horror You are an elitist dim (dem) sheep. Learn to think critically.
@@hawai.inuiakea Yup, choke neck traffic, lines and crowds galore on Oahu
I go to Hawaii almost every year and I've been to all the island except Molokai. It's the culture, beaches, scenery, and the aloha spirit that's keep pulling me back to the island. I would definitely like to live in Hawaii, and work remotely from there.
Yay more land gone
When I become either a millionaire or billionaire I’ll move there.
Born and raised. You don't have to be rich to live in Hawaii. Depends on where you live and what you do.
Teddy James if you are from the islands then this is no Aloha spirit coming from you braddah
Just recently moved here from Texas. EVERYTHING IS SO EXPENSVIE!!! and when it rains it gets pretty scary. But other than the cons its BEAUTIFUL
Ashley Villa I’m local & trying to move to Texas because it’s so cheap good luck in Hawaii 🙏
Kailuafornia lol
1.4 million people on 7 habited islands (one inhabited), not all on one island. Oahu has less than a million people for around 400.000 in Honolulu. Thanks for the video.
haha, thanks for the correction. I should've known that, lol
@@jjxmahal No, you shouldn't have known that. Lol The average person is not walking around fact checking on population numbers, like it's a school paper or something. They are trippin. 😂🤙🏽
Big Island (Hawai’i) has more than 1 million.

You should definitely keep doing this! You are good, seems like you’ve been doing this your whole life.
I was there in 1998, it was too good to be true, everybody was soo friendly and the hardest thing was getting on the plane headed back to Alabama.
I’d love to visit Hawaii...it looks like such a beautiful place
Yes I love hawaii! Ppl are so much more respectful of eachother and caring! Mahalo And Aloha all day everyday!
I’d move there I’d just need a job and someone to come with me
Whoever liked this hmu lol

Hard to find jobs here brah.. pretty tight job market that really heavily rides on manual labor. Keeping friends can be hard, people underestimate what it takes to live here and are always leaving. Do your research and know what you’re getting into before you just up and leave your life on the mainland. It’s definitely possible to live here as a young adult on your own but if you don’t come here for the right reasons it will never work out. Hope this helps haha don’t mean to be majorly negative
Avery Ford I appreciate your honesty. I’ll look into it more before making any major decisions haha
Avery Ford what would be your tips? If you don’t mind taking the time my biggest dream was to move there but I hear a lot about it being very expensive and the bugs and it discourages me 😔
Eh, Local Islandah! You being so helpful to Non-Islanders, it's nice.
Thanks Sis!
of course no problem!
I went to visit last October and until this very day I dearly miss Hawaii. Its just the vibes there that has me
in love.
That Tsunami warning is still alot better than my morning alarm....
You shouldn’t joke around about this..
@@erijma9715 eh it's fine as a local I can confirm tsunamis may be terrifying but shit man we all be sleeping or probably not even paying attention cause
Let's be honest if it does we can't exactly go anywhere anyways plus the planes by then would be crowded and pact and just yeah probably not enough or even time to get out before the tsunami hits
Plus you'd have to book a flight to leave 😩 oh and.not.only that most of then usually end up as
"Tsunami warning magnitude of 8.0"
Then a few hours later
"False alarm"
Or
"David ige forgot his password"
But lmao anyways Japan's tsunamis though are way scarier to be fair
But.hope I wasn't rude some.people probably be riding the tsunami wave tbh
OH to be fair too Hawaii did have a tsunami back in the 1980s or smtthn like that :D
Again hope I wasn't rude we all make jokes about it cause it's fine it been there done that y'know :D again hope I wasn't rude!!!
Hawaii is a beautiful place to lived paradise. People are so friendly.
Maui saved my life I could cry talking about it I miss her so much
Pros: weather, scenery. Cons: too expensive, too low average wages, most good spots are already taken by the rich
Yup, if you don’t have a high paying job, you’re going to struggle.
35 minutes to cross half of the state??? That’s shorter than my drive to work lol I’d love that
Yes, the weather is best and the food. Nice video thanks.
I live on Oahu and you nailed everything! Love this video and I'm so happy to see another UA-camr based in Hawaii! Represent :)

A local Hawaiian here.... that siren part made me laugh!!!😆 That's what we hear EVERY first business day of the month around noon with their monthly testing. Don't matter if you in school, at home, driving, or at work... you GONNA here it!
Funny. We have the same in Europe, The Netherlands. But it's an alarm for air-attacks, a relic of world war 2.
My friend has Mozambique parents so he is black he was born in Hawaii in Honolulu he told me it’s weird being black he said they aren’t racist but he felt weird cause most people were Asian or Polynesian and he only knew 8 black people
Grew up in Kaneohe. Graduated from Castle High School. Watched the H3 go up. Love these videos...miss the islands so much.

you did very well... i just moved here to Aiea, hawaii from austin tx. its been quite an adjustment. traffic is INSANE here. but then you head over to the peacefulness of ala moana beach and its just soooooo. aaaahhhhhhhhh.
good job young lady.

I've been thinking about moving, Hawaii has been pulling on my heart, idk what to do, all i breath is smoke and fire! OREGON! I got to go!!! Aloha i come!!!!!
If you are a haole, you might get a rude awakening! I would visit first.
Lovely here on big island. Big phenomenon of meth and squatters.
I think If you are going to do a UA-cam show about Hawaii you should include the whole state and not just one island, otherwise you should just do a video about a O'ahu.
Other than that I enjoyed your video
Come to Puna lol
Thank you for your honesty and your time
Aloha Jonalyne! Yes, Our island is much diverse! Keep spreading that aloha! Mahalo for an awesome video!
My friend moved back to Hawaii. Can't wait to see her again
To beat traffic going to Honolulu is bad from morning until 0930 on weekdays. After 0930 there is little to no traffic. In the evening traffic going away from Honolulu start getting bad around 3-7pm weekdays. There is little traffic to North Shore daily unless it’s weekend and people are heading to beaches.
i am from Puerto Rico and hawaii remembers me alot of here
Please make more!! I would like to move to Hawaii once I graduate from college !
Thank you, very helpful. If you can contrast the different islands, that would be great, especially the big island, maui, and O'ahu
Good job! I also grew up on Kauai. I am a KHS 74 grad.
It's fun having a growing UA-cam community.

Interesting viewpoint from a tourists standpoint great insight
This is a great video. Thanks for the info about Hawaii

Definitely continue with vids. You are so professional and wonderful to listen to. :) calming too.
This was such an interesting and informative video to watch omg! I never would have known this if it wasn't for your video!
no problem! and thank you for checking out my channel, been loving yours for the past year❤️
I plan on moving to the big island next summer.
The best thing about living in Hawaii is that when you turn on your turn signal people make space! What a concept!
C'ept a lot of the Aloha Spirit is going away....people too tired working double jobs.
My experience having lived in Hawaii for over 40 years and driven in the traffic for 30, was that you put on your turn signal and people speed up to prevent you from changing lanes... at least on Oahu.
I'm from Europe and Hawaii sounds so unrealistically to me that I can't even imagine what it is like to be there even though I wish I could go there
@Jonalyne Joy Great video.
Aloha!
I just got back from the big island and I have to say your Island is the best Island on the planet....I’ll be moving out there soon....it’s paradise
I'm planning to move there. All the cons are only in certain circumstances. Yes if you live in Honolulu and commute to work it will be expensive and heavy traffic. But the Big Island is not like that..at least as much.
Jonalyne: its expensive to live here.
Me: *laughs in Canadian*
SweetToothInc stuck in Toronto or Vancouver?
Me: laughs at you Both in British 😂
Had a look at the cost of Sydney ? hahahah
@SweetToothInc Plus its nice and warm in Hawaii all year around, so in the winter you might miss the freezing weather and the snow of Canada.
Trueee living here in Toronto is EXPENSIVE!!!
Ok I’m torn. I love hiking and everything about the Hawaii island living and culture, but tsunamis have always scared the living crap out of me. Especially being as anxious as I am. But especially living in a vary bland state like Delaware there really no natural disasters so I’ve never experienced that. (Someone please help me🥺)
there are mountains everywhere, when the tsunamis come run uphill!
Dont rule out the big island if you guys decide to visit Hawaii. Great island with so many adventures, less developed, and no crazy traffic. And awesome video. Love this and oahu as well!

Beautiful sands of beaches
-froma a rnadom local have a good day and mahalo! oh and lastly please dont move but visit we are already overpopulated
You’re talking about Oahu? Because Big Island it’s not so easy to get to beach...especially during lockdown.
Bye! or Aloha!
Keep those videos going, I really like it you spoke very clear, detailing the purpose of the video.. don’t stop!
This was adorable and SUPER informative! Thanks so much for the traffic warnings!!
glad that I could help😁
So excited, I’m going to hawaii this spring break!! :)
1.4 million Do NOT live on Oahu.
Just under a million live on Oahu. About 175k live on the big island, 145k live on maui, 66k live on kauai, 7k live on molokai. The other 3 islands dont have notable populations numbers.
Hawaii prices are just about what I have in the San Francisco Bay area. Your weather is much better and nothing beats the Aloha Spirit. Your blessed.
Christy Poos I live in sf
I live in San Francisco and Honolulu and the prices are about the same in both cities ...The property taxes in San Francisco is almost x4 of what it is in Hawaii - if you buy a $1M home in S.F., your taxes are $12k ... in Hawaii it’s $3K and that includes garbage pick up!
A gallon of milk for $6.99 is ok. Similar price in big cities, such as NY (1 or 2 dollar offset more or less).
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing.
Your - Pros is not what seems. / BUT YOUR -
Cons IS VERY CORRECT !!
If you haven’t already, can you do a video about the pros and cons of Hawaiian government and policies?
