Great video Johnny, Thanks for the shoutout and decent results. I paid 9 -10 cents per bullet for those when Midsouth ran a sale which they have done a few times so I have a ton and happy to send you more if you want them so just let me know. Decent groups for plinking bullet prices.

Flat base bullets are useful at shorter distances in cartidge loads intended for hunting, shooting at shorter distances as they allow for more surface area for the expaning gases to push on and a better seal. I'm told this discourages throat errosion. The boat tails bullets I'm told come into importance at longer distances as they increased stability and decrease drag by shaping air flow over the bullet.
I'm fairly new to reloading and this awesome video answered a lot of questions. Thanks for not having an intro with the blue man group banging away - just right to the point!
Shhhhhh! I have been using these for a while. I purposely developed a cartridge that would be 'good' in all my AR-15 and Bolt .223 Cal. All guns deliver one MOA or better and my Thomson Center Compass is 3/4 MOA or better as long as I don't overheat the barrel. Same load for all. I am using Benchmark 24.0 gr., CCI 400 primer, Federal or Lake City range pickup shells trimmed to 1.750" and bullet seated to the far edge of the cannelure (about 2.235 OAL). Use caution with my load. work up to it. I just received another 1500 and plan to order 3000 more soon. I would like to see these shot into ballistic jell. Great videos as always. I always learn something.

A Hornady representative answer my query regarding availability of this bullets by stating they are produced by Hornady on exclusive contract for Mid South Shooters supply.
In case you do not know this (and you should know ) a long distance match bullet is a combination of a BTHP (the HP is not a real HP but a product of how they are manufactured), perfectly concentric jacket and a good ogive design. Mix these up and you get a long range match bullet. For short range match bullets everything applies the same but for the boat tail which is not necessary for short distances used in in most bench rest competition since a bullet that stabilizes by 100 yards is required. There are match bullets (such as the 185 gr 308 cal Lapua that do not have a HP but a full jacket instead. and are also super accurate. This info is made available by Sierra and Hornady.
The reason hollowpoint is normally found in match bullets. They make a (Minor) turbulance that makes the bullet mor stable when you go out for long range
Another good vid, thanks man. I'd love to see a video of reloading / outdoor gear that gave you buyers remorse. Gimicky products, straight up worthless stuff. Something to break up the machine of videos and give a good laugh
You wanted feedback, so I purchased 500 and laddered 120 with LVR in a CZ 527 22" barrel 1 in 12 twist. Rem 7 1/2 primers. LVR is not recommended for 223 in any manuals so do not copy this. Your experience may differ, and I am not responsible if you use LVR. Started at 26.0 grains and went to 27.2 grains at 2.255 OAL. Ten shot groups and the worst was 1.25" Best was at 27.0 grains with a .85 group at 3060 fps avg. SD was 19, and ES 42. The CZ has a skinny barrel, very tight chamber. Brass in this rifle does not grow in length, in fact it always loses .003 to .005 after firing. After firing the brass only needs neck sized (Lee collet) and it will fit a case gauge perfect. Switched to a Savage M11 26"heavy and used 27.0 grains and set OAL 2.255". This Savage has a very long lead and I can chamber these bullets touching the lands at 2.395". That is about .145" jump. Ten shots were 3178 fps avg, .358 GP, SD 11, ES 28. Did 4 more ten shot groups and none were bigger than .6". SDs ran up to 22. Primers were well rounded edges, no cratering, and no extractor bolt face marks. Think I have my bullet for 100 yard practice.
I'd be interested in seeing how these run with CFE 223, IMR 3031 would be cool to. And just because it's cheap and they have 62gr load data for 5.56 pressures, I'd really like to see Shooters World Tactical Rifle.
I'm about to try these with TAC and see what I get. When I spoke with Hornady they mentioned this was going to become a permanent part of the line up. Also they said the load data on the website for the 60gr stuff I believe was the correct data. No OAL or BC provided though. It should be in the next edition of their manual according to the rep.
How did they do with Tac? Have any load data and velocities because the next time they are available I am going to pick some up? Btw if you still dont know the bc its .270 and OAL should probably be best from 2.250-2.260 unless you want to go deeper to line up the cannelure and crimp.
Awesome videos every time! I look forward to becoming a patreon! I may have a new cartridge die set, brass, and bullets to send you, along with some notes of my experiences with the cartridge. Thanks again for the amazing videos!
Unless something has changed in the last few weeks I tested my 22 Nosler videos with the latest version of brass. It had the beveled case head and was not the original batch.
Old vid, also this was probably said already. The Hornady Frontier 5.56 62gr BTHP box ammo 20 rounds for 12 bucks is absolutely awesome. If you haven’t go find some boxes.
So here's a question for you Johnny. What's your favorite bullet, powder, primer, ECT. combo? You do all these reviews and I don't remember you ever telling us your favorite combo was. I know there's a lot that goes into "favorite" but let's hear one
I guess that's the problem. I test too many different things, and never really take the time to really nail down a perfect load with any of them! I do step 1 and leave steps 2 and 3 to you guys. :) If you asked me right now what my favorite 223 load was I would probably say the 77gr Sierra Match King with Accurate 2520 from the Mk262 series. Amazing accuracy and heavy bullets are what I'm all about!
I would think that when you fire the hollow points air pressure holds the air in the hollow of it in place and that trapped air is what causes it to expand on impact the impact increases it's pressure and starts the expansion
As you're obviously a knowledgable reloader who takes pains to load for consistency, I'm wondering why you don't use a concentricity gauge/tool like the Hornady that allows not only measuring bullet run out, but actually correcting it as you measure. No criticism, just wondering.
We’ve tested that tool to exhaustion. While it does correct crooked rounds, it does not correct the original problems causing poor concentricity. Also, it really screws up neck tension and it’s effect on ES/SD is horrible. We did observe tighter groups at 100 with it, but that’s not the name of the game at extended ranges.
True but it and other tools like it do identify the existence of concentricity problems. So far I don't see Johnny turning and reaming necks. All his work is tested at 100 yards, he's not doing videos at 1,000 yards.
Johnny, I cannot get my AR-15 to shoot this well. I really feel like my limitation is the 5.56 chambered 16" Faxon Gunner barrel. I can get it to shoot 1.5" with certain loads and bullet combos, but I can't get it to shoot any better than that. It's frustrating, but I guess you can only expect so much out of a $165 barrel.
It's all about the barrel, brother. My Faxon 6.5 Grendel barrel is a decent shooter, but for 5.56/223 I can't recommend White Oak Armament enough. If small groups matter to you, stop wasting money on components and spend it on a WOA barrel. When I bought my 18" WOA SPR barrel it completely changed my idea of what sort of accuracy to expect from the AR-15 platform. Those guys really know what it takes to make a good barrel. If you can wait, they generally do a sale around black friday for $199. The normal price is $275 and it's totally worth it. Good luck!
Johnny, I'm using the same bullet .... 25.8 gr h335, WSR primers, PPU brass and getting 2996fps out of a PSA 16 mid-gas. Shoots really well for me. I would love to see you get some of that Shooters World powders from midsouth. I haven't seen that powder anywhere else and would love to see some used before I spend some coin.
I've had good luck with those and arcomp. I don't know how much truth there is to this but I've heard when the throat starts to wear you will have a larger sd
Seems to want fly well on the slow end...Better than my results with them ! I talked to Hornady a few months back and they have plans to release it, why they havent yet i have no idea...
JSC, many of use convenient plastic boxes to store bulk bullets in smaller quantities for use on the bench. Who wants to hoist out a box containing 1500 bullets when you are only loading 50 or so?
I am shooting a Ruger heavy barrel, suppressed and a Steyr, both in .223. Bullet weights 45-60gr so far. Due to powder costs here I have tended to Alliant 2400 14.4gr up to 17 gr - 18 gr was too much. With varying bullet weights I can achieve fairly good accuracy. The other powders in order of success would be H335, AR2206H, IMR 4895, Reloder 7 or AR2207. I wonder if you would consider trying 2400? [Pistol powder so the margin of error is greater for those out there who are not aware of the dangers] Thank you for the very informative videos. Oh yes and how do you cope with mirages off the suppressor? I use a fan.
Johnny have you ever thought of trying Hodgdons H4350 or Hybrid 100V for the heavier .223 bullets? I use both for my 6.5CM and found I really like the 100V and was thinking of trying them out for my Grendel and 223. What do you think?
I think you will find those powders way too slow burning to provide decent velocity in a .223 sized case. Probably very erratic velocities, too. Even H-380 is too slow for optimal performance in the .223/5.56 case. CFE-223, Accurate 2520 and Varget are probably as slow as you can go in a .223, and that is with heavier bullets.
Hey Johnny I just saw Elvis ammo vids and I really hope that UA-cam doesn't do this stuff to you buddy if they do I'm boycotting UA-cam no doubt and there is nothing I watch more than UA-cam. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for ya buddy
As much as I love AA2520, I have recently got some TAC just to see what would happen. So far 23.9 grains gave me a .370" 5 shot group, but the MV was only just above 2800 fps (20" barrel). I'm now on the hunt for a load that will shoot that good with a MV over 2950 fps. 3100 fps would be perfect, but as long as I get over 2950 fps, speed takes a back seat to best group size. Since it's raining today, I'm at the reloading bench instead of the range. I'll report what I find when the weather clears up.
In working up loads with this bullet using H335, W748, and Benchmark I found that these bullets kick significantly more than 60gr Vmax and 63gr Sierra SMPs. It makes me wonder if they have a harder or thicker jacket. I'd love to see a gel test as I have considered whether they truly would make a good hunting bullet for coyotes.
hey guys, random question: I don't reload yet, but i was looking at components at my LGS, and wanted to know if $22 for a pound of reloader 7 was a good price. no shipping and all
I would love to see you shoot AA2520 and 8208 with this bullet. Im interested in these powders because they meter well in a progressive press. I am especially interested in 8208 because its less temp sensitive than AA2520.
Been working on TAC loads and have come with 24.8 grains. Its a solid 0.750" load at 3000 FPS. The best part is that 24.7, 24.8, 24.9 are all .750" loads. So this means I can run off a large batch on my Dillon and still have a solid sub moa load.
@@MyLonewolf25 Sorry for the slow reply. Yes standard deviation and extreme spread mean more at distance than maximum velocity. The catch is I don't shoot this load at long range. This particular load has a cone of fire that is smaller than the front half of a coyote at 300 yards. (which is this load primary purpose) I have another AR15 coupled with a 77 grain Nosler OTM for target shooting. That load shoots a lot tighter because low SD's was my primary goal
Hey Johnny, a friend and I both shoot this bullet. We load to 2.250. I do not crimp, he puts a light factory crimp. We both use cfe223. My load is 23.5 with cci400, his load is 23.0 with cci 450. Honestly we can shoot each other's load and have exceptional results. We are both shooting regularly 1/2-5/8 groups. Now that said he deemed this bullet a unicorn bullet for the longest time until I let him borrow a pound of my cfe223 powder. He tried four or five different powders and could not get them to group. I let him borrow a pound of cfe223 and they immediately started giving excellent results. I have not tried any other powder but cfe223 and found that it worked and never changed. I'm shooting a 1/8 twist Barnes precision 18 inch barrel and he shoots a Hanson 1/8 twist 18 inch barrel. Lastly, I did a primer test and federal AR match did exceptionally well too. Your videos are awesome and in my opinion the best on UA-cam for reloading by far.
I would love to see what 24.7 and 24.8 grains of H4895 would do. My guess is they would fall right in line with 24.6 and 24.9. Since I load on a progressive press, I look for a spread of at least 3 charge weights that shoot well enough for my needs. I pick the charge weight in the middle and fire up the Dillon. In my rifle 26.1 grains of AA2520 was the magic charge. My 20 inch chrome lined BCM shoots this load with no pressure signs and hold about MOA from the bench. My chrome lined (but hand lapped) Criterion will shoot this load in the .7's. Its a great practice bullet that will let me save my 77's for when it counts
I load these with Tac and I'm no match competitor but they are very good bullets and even I get good groups. I've loaded these at 24.2 and I like the results. I'm shooting a 20" upper from Model1Sales. I put the lower together. I just really like this bullet. Right now its 9/14/2020 and these are scarce as hens teeth. Only have 200 on the shelf !
@@markgoostree6334 This is my favorite bullet. It accurate and cheap. I have great experience with TAC, AA2520, 8208XBR, W748, Power Pro Varmint, and AR Comp. This bullet works well with many powders. With todays conditions you don't have many powder choices since most is out of stock. It will also work with CFE223, N140, N135, and shooters world match rifle. All of these powders other than N133 and Power Pro Varmint work with 155 BTHP in my AR10 as well.
2019 update - Hornady has released this bullet in their Frontier ammo line Item Number FR300. Frontier 5.56 head stamped brass loaded by Lake City. I'm going to shoot some in my bolt guns and see how it does. Warning on the label to shoot only in 5.56 chambers.
Holy cow, been waiting on this video. Ordered 1500 of these 8 months ago, have shot them with about 10 different powders. So happy right now. These are actually advertised as a hunting bullet on midsouth. Gell test please, please!
I got your message over on Patreon! I actually already ordered some more of these from Midsouth. I was ordering some 40gr Nosler BT's and some 40gr V-Max and decided to go ahead and add some of these 62's. So, thanks for the offer but I am covered for the time being! I didn't even notice that they mentioned using these for hunting. I'm thinking this might be a good option for some ballistic get testing to put that claim to the test! Thanks, man!
I can only imagine how much of a pain it is to melt down ballistic gel. I can mess up ramen noodles, but I’d love to see if those open tips actually open up. Thanks man!:)
Jeff Huntley I imagine it will be about like a berger, it will probably shed 40-50% of its weight and base stay in tact. I'm going on a hog hunt tonight with them if we score I'll take some pics.
Johnny's Reloading Bench sweet, I'm going on a hog hunt tonight these bullets and my atn x sight ii, I'll take some pics if we score some kills. If you would like some load data and target pics let me know got lots, sent you my go to load on Patreon. I've probably shot around 6-7 hundred of these in load developing.
Never shot the 62gr. But I can say that in completely different guns I have had similar results as you across the hornady line. The big stuff (6.5 140's and mid weight 308's) seem to be truly match ready and the .224 stuff doesn't seem to knock my socks off. They're alright, but in the small stuff Sierra seems to be the right choice.
Johnny, Once again you have a winner. For those that shoot competitively, these will do the Job at the 200 and 300-yard stages of National Match High Power as seen they will hold an "X" ring. and a competitor can switch out to the 75-77 grain bullets for the 600-yard line. All good content buddy, Keep up the good work. Dave.
This is the video I’ve been waiting for. I’m much more interested in the 62 gr bullet than the 55 gr version although I’ve been using the Armscor bullet out of ignorance more than anything else. I’ve been using H335 and Tac and, while not the most accurate, I enjoy them for plinking. I’ll be fascinated to see the results. Thanks!
its great shooting bullet. I've been using CFE223 with them. 27.6g seems to be a good node with no presser signs. I'm getting about 2834 fps with a SD of 11 in a 16" barrel. I'm about to try AR Comp and 2520. looks like you beat me to the range with the AR Comp
I have been using AA2520 for a long time. It is a VERY ACCURATE powder. Just remember that when the weather gets warm, AA2520 is a temp sensitive powder. 26.1 grains with a 62 grain BTHP gave me 3050 fps in 88 degree temps with no pressure. 28 degree temps during deer season I lost 100 FPS.
Actually flat based bullets are usually more accurate than a boat tail. Boat tails are only good for longer range. Anything under say 300 yards and a boat tail is unnecessary. You should try some flat based bullets and do some accuracy testing. Speer TNTs...talk about accuracy supreme with those babies, at least for me. the 55gr TNT for 223 and the 125gr TNT in 308 are lights out accurate.
it would be really great if at the end of the videos or in a follow up video you re-visit the charges that were most accurate and see if they are repeatable.
Great channel! For the 6.5 Grendel you can use AR Comp, but you need to use 107 gr SMK (G1 BC .430) with 28.4 gr AR Comp, CCI small rifle magnum primers, hornady brass, out of a 20 inch Odin Works barrel gives me 2649 fps ave, SD 13--also no pressure signs. That's 3.1 mils out to 500 yards confirmed!!! I did not see pressure signs until 28.8 gr of AR comp in the 6.5 grendel.
I started watching your videos about a month ago. Think I have seen them all now haha. I really like and appreciate what you do and the info you put out and the frequency of videos I decided to support you on patreon I also have some boolits I'd like to send you sometime keep it up
I just ordered a bunch of these 62’s and have a decent amount of H335 that I’m going to try to work up a good load with. As many others have commented I’d like to see another video on these with H335 and CFE223
I have been using this exact load for .223 for some time now and am very happy with the results. as a matter of fact, I just ordered another 500 62gr Hornady BTHP projectiles. I load 24.5gr charges with no crimp. Fantastic consistent results. Its strange that there is no data avail in the Hornady book.
If you call Hornady I am sure you can get some data on components to use for the 62 grain bullets. The technical service guys at Hornady are very nice to get info from and they will help you one hundred percent. .
23.4 grains of AR Comp, 68 grain BTHP Hornady Match and you will be hitting the same hole with every round at 100 yards. My Barrel is E.R. Shaw, 24 ", Extra heavy with a 1-9 twist, Fluted.
24gr with aa2230. OAL 2250 and it’s just awesome . Just an awesome all purpose awesome bullet. Second only to 62gr gold dot with the same charge. CFE 223 works well also. Keep up the strong work it is appreciated and super informative. I come here to your channel cause the content is non biased and just awesome!
I have loaded over 1k of these, when powder was scarce I ended up with accurate 2460. I can normally shoot sub .. .75moa with 23.1 gr and cci 400 primers, seated at 2.255 without crimping
In a Jacketed BTHP the hollow point is actually a hollow space in there. A technique of manufacture that causes the center of gravity of the bullet to be more advantageous to accuracy.
John, when you get a flyer like that, get that piece of brass and set it aside for the scrap pile. Or mark it with a black magic marker on the head and load it again. This is what was going on with several guns of mine. I started to mark the brass and it was the same pieces doing it. This was in a bolt action. Being a Semi.... you might be seeing a bullet set back issue and that is what is causing the flier. Usually when the bullets get set back in an AR they get damaged and that would cause the flyers as well. Something to think about

How did they do with Tac? Have any load data and velocities because the next time they are available I am going to pick some up? Btw if you still dont know the bc its .270 and OAL should probably be best from 2.250-2.260 unless you want to go deeper to line up the cannelure and crimp.
Midway has these along with Hornady's longer 62gr BTHP without a cannalure
Awesome videos every time! I look forward to becoming a patreon!
I may have a new cartridge die set, brass, and bullets to send you, along with some notes of my experiences with the cartridge.
Thanks again for the amazing videos!
+Johnny's reloading bench
Also wondering about your email? I have no clue how to contact you!
While I am here, since they supposedly solved the brass problem with 22 nosler, A comparison with 224 valkyrie should be in order.
Unless something has changed in the last few weeks I tested my 22 Nosler videos with the latest version of brass. It had the beveled case head and was not the original batch.
It appears then that they 22 nosler brass is still substandard as far as reloading is concerned. Hopefully they get it fixed.
I would think that when you fire the hollow points air pressure holds the air in the hollow of it in place and that trapped air is what causes it to expand on impact the impact increases it's pressure and starts the expansion
thank you for sharing another great 223 option. just ordered so to test with cfe223. seem their are a few guys that like that combo
I have the Hornady Concentricity Tool. I'll be making some videos and putting it to the test at some point. Thanks for the tip!
True but it and other tools like it do identify the existence of concentricity problems. So far I don't see Johnny turning and reaming necks. All his work is tested at 100 yards, he's not doing videos at 1,000 yards.
26.0 grains of h4895 with 60 gr Vmax was my best group..but it’s HOT
Johnny, I know this is an older video, but I've had good results with both TAC and PP 2000-MR along with H4895 and this bullet
They list 24.6 as max for ar comp.
HURR YOU NEED TO LOAD EVERYTHING WITH VARGET
Looks like AR Comp works fine too
Everybody love some Varget!
Are you achieving the same groupings WITHOUT the chronometer hanging off the barrel?
The Hornady 55gr SP is a great shooting cheap bullet.
Hornady now sells this bullet in it's Frontier line of ammunition. Can someone tell me if they have released it in their reloading catalog?
Johhny - 62Gr Hornady or Sierra? Throughout the video you appear to have a Sierra box next to the powder.
JSC, many of use convenient plastic boxes to store bulk bullets in smaller quantities for use on the bench. Who wants to hoist out a box containing 1500 bullets when you are only loading 50 or so?
H335 has been good for that bullet in my white oak.
just wondering if you video of neck turned VS non neck turned brass test.. . wondering if its worth buying the tool ... thanks
Do you reckon that all of this rain may have changed the moisture level in the powder to effect the SD's?? Humidity?
Hey Johnny. Any luck with the 224V? Or did ScrewTube ban your upload?
I wonder how these would perform at 5.56 pressure?
Did you stop using the chamber chiller between loads?
Try 10x and tac Johnny
23.5 gr of varget and a 2.250 coal shoots lights out for me.
Shooters world match rifle and 8208 xbr, accurate 2520
I use these with varget. I would love to see your results.
When do u have plans to reload with some different powders?
67 REBEL SST AMC
...8 months...
and counting ...
I'll report what I find when the weather clears up.
i can send you some of Hornady's 62gr FMJBT to compare to these, if you want. it's a good performer in my 1:9 twist barrel
On sale. www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/001532276c250/22-caliber-point224-diameter-62-grain-bthp-with-cannelure-250-count
ShootersWorld Match Rifle,
CFE223
Your video is invalid. You can’t group test with a magneto attached on. Sorry
Has anyone tried Hornady 62gr FMJ?
24.0gr H335 works well for me for the fmjbt. OAL of 2.230” with a light crimp.
I'm sure you know but your gun is way over gassed by the ejection path.
adi AR 2206h
Shooting groups with Magneeto on🤦🏻♂️
hey guys, random question: I don't reload yet, but i was looking at components at my LGS, and wanted to know if $22 for a pound of reloader 7 was a good price. no shipping and all
compared to my local gun shop ($28) thats a good price.
That is an excellent price
Great price
Everglades has the 62gr version 2 also available.
I would love to see you shoot AA2520 and 8208 with this bullet. Im interested in these powders because they meter well in a progressive press. I am especially interested in 8208 because its less temp sensitive than AA2520.
Yes, please do these powders Johnny!
Agreed! These 2 powders sound great!
One more vote for 8208 here!! Thanks!!
One more vote for Accurate 2520 and 8208xbr
I am doing well with 25.3 grains of 8208
Please do a video with these Hornady 62gr using H335.
Been working on TAC loads and have come with 24.8 grains. Its a solid 0.750" load at 3000 FPS.
The best part is that 24.7, 24.8, 24.9 are all .750" loads. So this means I can run off a large batch on my Dillon and still have a solid sub moa load.
rdsii64 SD means a loooot more at long range
@@MyLonewolf25 Sorry for the slow reply. Yes standard deviation and extreme spread mean more at distance than maximum velocity. The catch is I don't shoot this load at long range. This particular load has a cone of fire that is smaller than the front half of a coyote at 300 yards. (which is this load primary purpose) I have another AR15 coupled with a 77 grain Nosler OTM for target shooting. That load shoots a lot tighter because low SD's was my primary goal
I used 25.8g CFE223 with these bullets. Great results out to 600yds at Talledega with a 16" 1:7
I would love to see 8208-XBR and CFE 223 as well. CFE is fast!
Survival Nomad what kind of groups do you get at 100 yards?
Ralphydc check my comment below for cfe accuracy on this bullet
I like the way you do your video . Interesting
I like the way you do your comments.
Like pizza and beer! Just go naturally together:)
Why not TAC? I've hear that TAC really shines with 62 gr. yo 77 gr. bullets.
Id love to see another video in these with CFE224 and H335
I love these bullets. I've had good luck with these and BLC-2 powder. I'd be interested in seeing it with IMR 8208XBR
8208XBR is definitely something I'd like to test with these!
would be a great choice!
I reload with these using IMR 8208xbr using 24.0 grains and a COAL of 2.245
What was your charge weight with bl-c2?
I shoot the Hornady 62 gr fmj over cfe223 with great accuracy. It's my go to plinker load.
That sounds like an awesome combo for some crazy velocities.
Good video Johnny how about some H-335 loads?
Had good luck with 8208 xbr, benchmark might be a good idea as well
Nice! I want to shoot the 62 gr Barnes tipped tsx. For caribou hunting... Whatcha think?
amazingly, tac powder did well in my 62 BTHP loadings....
H.p. r made from rear to tip. Fmj r made from tip to rear I been wanting to try these but I wanted to see someone else shoot them first
Johnny, Once again you have a winner. For those that shoot competitively, these will do the Job at the 200 and 300-yard stages of National Match High Power as seen they will hold an "X" ring. and a competitor can switch out to the 75-77 grain bullets for the 600-yard line. All good content buddy, Keep up the good work. Dave.
Thor's Axe they'll work out at longer ranges too. I've shot 55gr bullets at 500 with a 2.75" group.
Just got to know your wind..
Thanks!
Nothing wrong with the Armscor bullets! I haven't had a chance to try them myself yet, but it sounds like you're using some good powders.
Armscore 55 gr FMJ-BT with 25-25.5 grains of H335 @2.230 is my pet load for .223 👍
its great shooting bullet. I've been using CFE223 with them. 27.6g seems to be a good node with no presser signs. I'm getting about 2834 fps with a SD of 11 in a 16" barrel. I'm about to try AR Comp and 2520. looks like you beat me to the range with the AR Comp
Solid info. Thanks!
Thanks man. That’s good to know. I don’t think I’ll run into that problem. I’m in south Florida. I wish we could get some cold weather.
I’d like to see how this bullet performs with 2460 or 8208
I started watching your videos about a month ago. Think I have seen them all now haha. I really like and appreciate what you do and the info you put out and the frequency of videos I decided to support you on patreon I also have some boolits I'd like to send you sometime keep it up
I wish you would try these with a few more powders.
Try TAC and W748
I just ordered a bunch of these 62’s and have a decent amount of H335 that I’m going to try to work up a good load with. As many others have commented I’d like to see another video on these with H335 and CFE223
I have been using this exact load for .223 for some time now and am very happy with the results. as a matter of fact, I just ordered another 500 62gr Hornady BTHP projectiles. I load 24.5gr charges with no crimp. Fantastic consistent results. Its strange that there is no data avail in the Hornady book.
I have been wanting to develop a 62 grain practice round ... thanks for letting us know about this option
If you call Hornady I am sure you can get some data on components to use for the 62 grain bullets. The technical service guys at Hornady are very nice to get info from and they will help you one hundred percent. .
Yes, among the best in the Industry. SOLID people at Hornady.👍
