    I literally was there a month ago and the shortages were very apparent. Apparently trade with Russia and the war has affected the supply chain. The third day they were running out of coffee and even beer. There was no butter for the week and there were no eggs until the sixth and seventh day. The elevators were all out of order so my mother, who is elderly and others had to walk up the stairs. We sat in the airport, and the sweat was dripping off our faces, but of course they were five dollar American bottles of water available.
    I found the Cuban people are wonderful and of course the beaches are great but the supply chain is terrible. I will not be going back again.

      Damn, that sounds like a rough trip! It's a shame that the supply chain issues overshadowed the wonderful people and beaches in Cuba. Hopefully, they can sort out the shortages soon so future travellers can have a better experience. It's important to hear different perspectives and to be aware of the challenges that people face in different parts of the world. I hope you were still able to enjoy the positive aspects of your trip.

    Although your click bait says something about risks, you don't mention any. However, the Canadian government now has an advisory to exercise a high degree of caution in Cuba. This is "due to shortages of basic necessities including food, medicine and fuel."

      Ah, the click bait got you! But in all seriousness, thank you for sharing the advisory. It's always good to stay informed about any potential risks when planning a trip.

    1. I was in Cuba 23 times. Six times out of 23 - Cayo Coco. last time in January 2024 (Angstana). Absolutely acceptable.
    2. You should understand one thing - when you pay $800 - $1000 for one week (flight, hotel, drink, food and entertainment) - you can not expect the same if you paid $2000 - $2500.
    3. If you go to Cuba for food - mistake. But: the beach, the ocean, the sun, Rom, cigars, music, people - that is Cuba. And there will always be beer, rom-cola and something to eat.

      @user-fp2xv9ls2z Thank you for sharing your experiences! It's fascinating to hear about your numerous trips to Cuba, especially your visits to Cayo Coco. Your point about managing expectations based on the price paid for the trip is certainly valid. Each budget range offers its own set of experiences, and it's essential for traveller's to understand this, I just expect more for less sometimes. Your perspective on what makes Cuba special-it's beaches, ocean, sun, rum, cigars, music, and the vibrant local culture. It's reminds me that Cuba offers much more. I defiantly need to go again for sure. Thanks again for your valuable insights! I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.

    8 times in Cuba, never been disapoint. It is just normal try to learn some words of their language. You are not at home. they don't eat the same, it is normal.

      That's great to hear that you've had positive experiences in Cuba, visiting eight times! WOW. I use to be a Flight Attendant been there a few times too, but I can never get use to the food when I'm staying at a resort, outside of the resort is okay otherwise. Thanks for watching btw

    • @shermede1986
      @shermede1986  Рік тому +2

      Apologies for the delayed response. I used Canadian funds, including coins like loonies and toonies. When the coin amount becomes a significant amount like 10$, 20$ they ask us to exchange them for bills, allowing us to reuse the coins again as tips.

  • @elenarotestan5823
    @elenarotestan5823 Рік тому +3

    Do not tip coins, the bank won't accept it.

    • @shermede1986
      @shermede1986  Рік тому +1

      Hey Elena what's up, thanks for watching. You are absolutely correct! Canada and Jamaica are among the few countries that still embrace the use of coins. An interesting practice is that staff have in place a recycling program, where you can give your coins as tips. Once the accumulated amount reaches $5, $10, or $20, the staff can exchange them with the tourists and provide them with bills instead. This innovative system allows tourists to experience the joy of still tipping without asking the front desk for change or looking for a cash exchange.

      @fracazzo Apologies for the loud music! Perhaps it's a subtle hint to lower the volume and appreciate the visuals instead. Just kidding! Admittedly, this was my first video editing attempt, so while you're absolutely correct, I'm pleasantly surprised it's gaining views. Thank you for taking the time to comment, though! Rest assured, I hope this video hasn't deterred you from exploring my other content. I can promise you, the music won't be as loud in the future!
