I truly believe there is more to learn from someone who struggled to get where they are than to hear some fancy and bloated version of a fairy tale... So don't worry bro, you already built a community that is looking forward to hear what you have to say even if it's not a tutorial 😌
I would also agree that there is more to learn from a person who failed multiple times than someone who nailed it on the first try. There is just more experience or exposure in the 1st case. Then again the 2nd scenario shouldn't be negleted either as it can be extremely valuable.
Sooo refreshing. I've become so fed up with success stories. I mean, success stories are fine but not in isolation. I always felt kind of weird and forced trying to respect somebody purely for their success. Instead, what always felt natural and easy is to respect someone's success in proportion to their struggles and agenda. Thanks for being real!
So stupid how hiring processes favor those who are good at interviewing, not at the job. And this is coming from someone who has been pretty good at interviews. You shouldn't have to waste your time prepping for "interview problems".
@@impulsivecf no they don’t check your communication skill on algorithm puzzles, all they want is you to solve it. I guess what I mean is, if you don’t solve it, communication skills won’t take you to the next step.
Actually, I think you need to have interview skills. Because that is your opportunity to sell yourself. How whould the interviewers know how good you are if you don't show them. The interview process is not something perfect, they cannot magically know if you're good or bad. You need to show that to them. Think about it like marketing, even if you have a great product, most of the time, you also need to convince the world that your product is good.
Yeah, yeah, the same old story - which is first, egg or chicken. Pros & Cons, Pros vs Cons or other way around, soft skills vs hard skills... you name it. Polarization, the mother of divide and conquer. Under the present status quo of the society construct (in global scope, you know what I mean ;)) at the end of the day EVERYTHING comes down to politics! And the worst thing is that the slogan is "politics for the sake of politics itself". That's all.

I have to say, this was really inspirational. I've been at a job for 2 years now working with 3 other developers that have 15, 25, and 30 years experience in this field. I only have 2 when I started. My boss has always made me feel like a failure and like I wasn't smart enough for this field. Since COVID hit, my contract can no longer be renewed. I almost felt like quitting the entire industry. But I also love this stuff. You've inspired me to continue pushing.
Similar situation for me. Last boss told me I'd never make it in the industry. Took me until I got another offer months down the road to finally get his voice out of my head.
Seriously the most underrated and inspirational youtube I know at the moment, you've inspired me to go for my dream of being a software engineer. You said something in one of your videos about how you never really got good grades but put the work in to overcome that obstacle so I was just wondering if coding was a hidden talent that you just needed to put a bit more effort into or if it was just something that anyone can learn so long as they're ready for the uphill battle. Thank you so much for talking about a common situations that is never shared much. Feeling a bit less lonely staring at the screen. I really admire the strength that you had during the interview process. It is really hard to be evaluated by others that do not know you and may reject you for some unknown (and sometimes very stupid) reasons. It is true. They really make us question our capabilities.

Thank you for being real. I'm currently working in the medical field but taking the leap and transitioning to a career in tech. I love watching your videos, it gives me insights on what's in store for me. Keep the videos coming! Thank you for being inspirational :)
Sometimes its good to hear some of the realities of the industry. These days there's so many ads that make out its so easy to get into these huge tech companies.
That is some solid advice you got. Slowing down and thinking/talking about the problem at hand is by far the thing that I've seen helps developers the most. And, minor rant: These technical interviews are getting out of hand. I've interviewed a bunch of people over the last three years for various software developer positions, and tried what I believe is a pretty numerous amount of approaches. Structuring the interview process heavily around technical interviews only resulted in a bias towards confident people, which means we missed a ton of really good devs whose only fault was being a bit nervous. The best approach by far (that I've tried) is a small home assignment that doesn't take too much time but is somewhat reflective of the actual work the candidate would be expected to do, and a face to face discussion about the candidate's solution.
Some of your words really hit me pretty good. I have already accepted the fact that this degree wont be easy. I have been a Mechanic for about 6-7 years now, and ive been looking into this for a while now. I just feel trapped in my current program. I want to do something bigger with my life and you help me realize its possible.
What sets you apart from the big youtubers is you keep it realistic you don’t get our hopes up to be crushed you are like look try you ace off but don’t expect anything and keep trying you inspire me to learn code and I’m busting my butt because of your videos true inspiration
Bro you’re awesome! Love the honest/candid perspective. I’ve owned a full serve car wash for 7 years / R.E. Investor for 15....now enrolled in full time coding bootcamp starting October. Snowball!
The last three minutes of this video are why I have grown to love your channel. I appreciate your honest and passion, and your thoughts on coding for the love of it rather than the money really convinced me that I was on the right path with my learning. Keep on coding!
Thanks for the video. Thanks for being open and genuine about your journey. I am trying a career transition from a hardware/system engineer to software engineer. Your videos are great inspiration and help. Thank you for your time making them.
I have no idea how I stumbled upon your channel but I am so glad. I really appreciate the fact that you give us a true picture of what it's like to be a software engineer and a relatively new one. I myself find it difficult to get into this field, as I work in the finance industry with a masters in Finance as well, which definitely does not help to switch fields to computer science. I don't think I have the luxury of taking a new degree mainly for my age, and have been taking online courses and doing mini projects to improve my understanding of the concept. Wish you can give me some advice on how can I pursue software engineering for my position. I find extremely difficult as well since I don't know anyone personally in that area, and surrounded by dull bankers. I recall you mentioning the golden handcuff which really sounds like my situation.
Am 59yo and have two sons, one just graduated and the other in 3rd year EEE of an MEng degree, both were ready to start jobs but received a few days ago postponement/ cancellation due to COVID-19. They are in self isolation in London. “Keep on going no matter what is the obstacle “. Thanks for your frankness and learnings!
@@KeepOnCoding Dear Sam, I have already asked multiple times for your kind opinion on my complicated issue: I am 35 and a business graduate majoring in Management Information System and Finance. Now I want to change my career and want to learn for next two years minimum either for data science or for software engineering. I will try to find job in the UK or in Australia. Which one should I go for : Data science or Software engineering?
@@KeepOnCoding Thank you for your valuable opinion. The research I have done so far, however, indicates though data scientist can earn more, but job security is less! I might need to do more research.
Thank you for posting this video. I have been a frontend developer for 9 years now and there had been some gaps between jobs for me as well. Sometimes 3 months, the most I think was 9 months. But the more experience you have I noticed the gap becomes smaller over time. This might be because people trust you more and see value in you. I have be thinking about giving up even when I am in the field. The stress, the pressure, the demands from ignorant departments, it all adds up. I loose track of time, my health and I see less and less of my family (wife and 2 year old son) because I have to spend nights and weekends studying. I'm 35 now and at a certain point, life and family is more important than the thrill of chasing the money. That's my best advice at this juncture in life. Just this month alone, I really felt like leaving the field and turn away. But I am not suggesting you to quit, if you still have the energy and time, keep at it! Best of luck to you man! Thank you for sharing this your video with us.
Thank you so much for your videos and being so honest. I’ve applied to go back to college for computer science and have been doing even more research to decide if this is the right path for me, and your advice has really helped.
I'm just about to start my career on software development and this video gave me the confidence to overcome my fears on committing. Thanks for the insights and advices!
Thank you, thank you!! For this video. As a new developer it is really easy to get disappointed when things don’t go as expected. It can get so bad that we can go to really dark places. Your video was so honest and relatable. It really helped. So please don’t feel bad. You are really helping people to continue fighting for their dreams and not give up. With that said here I go! XD
Dude, I've really watched a lot and a lot of coding tutorials than anyone else, then I saw 2 of yours (on java generics & streams), and the way you quickly-simply-straightforwardly explains things proved that you don't "just a booksmart or just got lucky", I think you're very good at it and probably should make more of it if you would. Keep up the good work man!
I feel this so hard. Rejection after rejection makes you question whether or not you're good enough but when you finally get your break it makes the struggle completely worth it.
Currently going through the same thing you went through. I got laid off a couple of months ago and it's difficult for me to get an interview at the moment, partially due to Covid. There are times where I do wanna give up and look for a new career.
I think this is the most realistic video I've watched so far. From what I've seen lately from many YT channels about coding, it seems like get a programmer job is easy. Unfortunately social media in general tendo to highlight the winners, not the strugglers.
Love your videos. It’s an eye opener to people like me that are new to this industry. I like how you’re open and vulnerable about your pass. Keep up the good work
This is your second video I watch, and i liked it. So refreshingly direct, and honest. Thinking of getting into coding on the side, even though I have no experience in it, just 10+ years of sales & marketing. Your content seems useful for that, so keep doing what you're doing man.

The legitimacy in your video is what we need on UA-cam!!! I'm really looking forward to watching more videos on your channel.
You're awesome. Very informative content, and I love how transparent you are. You've got yourself a new subscriber. :)
Thank you :)
I have 5 years of experience in .NET & MS SQL and finding a new job is a nightmare. It feels like I'm not fully qualified for any given position, half of them having keywords I don't even know. That's in Canada.
You inspire me in someway and yes! I'll keep on coding! Thank you!
i love that you always say the truth
Thank you so much for talking about a common situations that is never shared much. Feeling a bit less lonely staring at the screen.
I really admire the strength that you had during the interview process. It is really hard to be evaluated by others that do not know you and may reject you for some unknown (and sometimes very stupid) reasons. It is true. They really make us question our capabilities.
Honestly this is great and needed content. I made a career change into coding. I did the boot camp, and it's been an uphill battle from day one. I often feel like I'm not good enough, and that I'm lost in this industry. Having people like you be open and honest about their struggles in the industry gives hope for people like me. It reminds me that this is a part of the journey, and I just need to keep working harder to be a better developer.
Seriously. Thank you so much for this video man. I found it when I needed it the most.
Came across this channel a day ago. Love how you keep things real. Keep going strong! Also, you have gained yourself a new subscriber! Will keep checking out your content.
I'm 41 and just started learning programming. Videos like this one are truly helpful, thank you!
P.S. for all of you programming-starters out there: Java is pain in the ass to learn, keep on coding!
Thank you! This video is really helpful to have a lens of the real world out there
I love your honesty. That's what makes you stand out
Thank you for being real. I'm currently working in the medical field but taking the leap and transitioning to a career in tech. I love watching your videos, it gives me insights on what's in store for me. Keep the videos coming! Thank you for being inspirational :)
This is so inspiring. Thank you for sharing this...
This was really encouraging. Thank you so much for being candid and painting a real picture
I 100% respect your channel and love how natural it is ! Like you just flow so well
Sometimes its good to hear some of the realities of the industry. These days there's so many ads that make out its so easy to get into these huge tech companies.
I've been watching your videos one after another and I admire your approach to life. 👍👍
Snowball!
Never give up💪, let's all keep on coding⚡
The last three minutes of this video are why I have grown to love your channel. I appreciate your honest and passion, and your thoughts on coding for the love of it rather than the money really convinced me that I was on the right path with my learning. Keep on coding!
Thanks for the video. Thanks for being open and genuine about your journey. I am trying a career transition from a hardware/system engineer to software engineer. Your videos are great inspiration and help. Thank you for your time making them.
Yeeee I made it till the end of the video! Your content is awesome btw.
They're still young! They'll be fine in the long run.

Dear Sam,
I have already asked multiple times for your kind opinion on my complicated issue:
I am 35 and a business graduate majoring in Management Information System and Finance. Now I want to change my career and want to learn for next two years minimum either for data science or for software engineering. I will try to find job in the UK or in Australia.
Which one should I go for : Data science or Software engineering?
@@kempacademy Hi Golam. Based on your situation I would go for data science as there is less competition to get a job which seems like your main goal.
@@KeepOnCoding
Thank you for your valuable opinion.
Really appreciate you telling your story. Glad to have found your channel. Your hard work is paying off
am ios dev and i understand how you feel, keep on grinding man. Always support you!!!
XD
I’m glad it helped and I hope you keep the pace!
Keep On Coding sure thing! Thanks!
Thanks for the video. First time I ever had a comment screenshot in a video!
Thank you for being real bro, I'm in a kinda similar position in life right now but your video gave me strength. Wish you the best!
Thank you for sharing this and keeping it real.
Appreciate the honesty and your love for coding.
Currently going through the same thing you went through. I got laid off a couple of months ago and it's difficult for me to get an interview at the moment, partially due to Covid. There are times where I do wanna give up and look for a new career.
Keep pushin bro. You’ll bounce back.
Appreciate knowing your struggles. Because the 3 months and I’m SE @ Google stories get tired!
You are totally ok. I support you🙏
