    Just so you know how effective this video was for me... Twice I failed the competency test. I took it again in Northern Virginia yesterday morning, and only got one question wrong, and passed with flying colors! As a former detective, I had to get examined assessed and took many many tests, but this one actually was one of the most challenging ones because of the extreme subtleties and so many factors going on. Presentations for aba are way to verbose and vague. I would say yours or the best ones I have seen so far!

    I think your video is awesome! I am a BCBA and am currently running a group of BHTs through my own "boot camp" of sorts to prep them to become RBTs at our organization, which includes a review of each concept and hands on practice with feedback. Most of the things that you have said in this video I have said at one point or another during these group training sessions :: I am sending them all your video as a review and to help them prep for when we complete the actual assessment, which should be soon!

    Thank you for the content and the help to prepare for the RBT competency assessment. To be honest, I was feeling nervous about it and I felt even more super anxious after watching this video and ended up rescheduling it. I'm not sure what it was - maybe the talking is too fast, maybe it is the presentation style. I felt like I was expected to know everything or something. I ended up watching other videos channels like yourABAhelp and aba exam review and passing it on the first try. I felt way calmer after watching and studying other videos that are more encouraging.

    • @moderndayaba
      @moderndayaba  2 роки тому +3

      It depends on the client, the behavior, the therapy environment, the behavior plan, and your training. The BCBA should have a crisis plan written out if it’s needed and train you on it. If that’s not the case and there’s a crisis risk with a client, definitely bring that up to them.

    In professionalism and requirements (client dignity), your example of transitioning a client to another therapist and explaining how the session went but not wanting to explain their challeneging behaviors in front of them, what would you do in that situation? Would you have the child go play for a minute while you explain the session or have a thrid person watch the child and leave the room to discuss? Also, how would you maintain client dignity in bathroom tolieting training because wouldnt you have to watch the child perfom the task?

    • @moderndayaba
      @moderndayaba  Рік тому +1

      Great questions!
      Yes, leaving the room briefly while someone else watches the client can work. If your company has HIPAA-compliant chat communication, you can use that, too.
      As for the client dignity question, you give the client as much privacy as possible given the circumstances. The two main factors are 1) whether you have assent from the client to observe/assist, and 2) what skills are being worked on. If a client seems uncomfortable with your presence during a toilet training procedure, it's best to back off and ask for guidance from the BCBA or caregiver.

  • @nbasnags
    @nbasnags 2 роки тому +2

    You said that you reinforce at the very end when doing forward chaining. But aren't you reinforcing with verbal praise when they complete the first task independently? Ex. "Good job turning on the faucet!"

    • @moderndayaba
      @moderndayaba  2 роки тому +3

      That’s a good question. Yes, you can provide praise! It might not function as a reinforcer as effectively as tangible or activity reinforcement, which is difficult to deliver before the end of the chain. It definitely depends on the learner, though. Does that make sense?
