      I was taught to pray:
ANGEL OF GOD, MY GUARDIAN DEAR, TO WHOM GOD'S LOVE COMMITS ME HERE, EVER THIS DAY BE AT MY SIDE, TO LIGHT, TO GUARD, TO RULE & GUIDE. Then, pray 7 Glory Be prayers for the things you are thankful for and the things you need help with, to my angel, every day. Always ask your angel for help. In The Holy Name of Jesus.

So do christians endure suffering for the sake of other sinners?

If I remember correctly, Padre Pio said that is the case. I would have to look it up to be sure. That's just from memory.

@@charlienachname1978 Yes both physically and metaphysically. The writings and examples from the saints give us sinners documented examples and guidance through suffering in a divine way and our sufferings unite us closer to Jesus and the closer we draw to Him, the more he teaches us to pray and we mature. Our prayers then become more efficacious and aligned with the will of God.

I don't understand why Jesus sounds so hateful in this story. Jesus talks to me too, and He is not hateful like that. (And I don't ask you to believe me, but it is true.)

Well to you it might sound like he’s hateful. I only heard all love.

It seems "hateful," but it's not. It's extreme self-denial that He requires of His "victim souls." Total self-abnegation in contrast to the total self-love sinfulness of others, whom victim-souls do reparation for. Read "24 Hours of the Passion of Christ" by mystic & Servant-of-God Luisa Picarretta. Jesus explains value of suffering.

@@SESE-xf4yl Does that imply that only some people are called to this kind of life to be "victim souls"? I mean, my life leaves much to be desired, but I'm not looking for any extra suffering if you see what I mean. I would hate to think that ALL of us are called to this. Like, wow.

@@coffeenut9588 While God calls all of us to be saints and to carry our crosses, not all of us have the vocation of becoming victim souls is how I understand this. Jesus may permit sufferings in everyone's lives for our purification and draw closer to him or for the salvation of a brother, or in reparation for all the offences against Him, but perhaps not at that level endured by a person who is willing to dispose their entire being to Jesus. What Jesus asked Gemma to endure was ultimately for her to accept Him fully, and she did, yes, perhaps initially with fear, doubt, evasiveness, distrust, but in the end she listened and obeyed not out of obligation but out of love for God, willingly. She wants what Jesus wants, and he accepted to be spat on, struck and nailed to a cross in part to let us know he is God and he loves us. This ties to the sacrament of the Eucharist, this is my body which I've given up for you. He asks us to do the same for our brothers and sisters, mirroring in a lesser way (because no other human can sustain what Jesus does everyday) as Gemma's and other victim souls do. In other ways too, like a lawful faithful marriage the Bride and the Groom offering to each other for the Glory of God and multiply as he commanded. Or becoming a servant to the people of God, a priest or nun. In short, Jesus did not promise us bodily comfort, health and material wealth in this life. On the contrary he said pick up your cross and follow me, and also that those who follow him will be treated just as he was treated, for this world hates him and wanted him dead. Don't be afraid, but when you are, run directly to his arms that he may give you strength. Pray and be good. That's what we all can do.

@@coffeenut9588 We aren't all called like this. Because Jesus doesn't leave us orphaned ever. He calls certain people to various circumstances of suffering and surrender so there becomes a greater deposit to the faith. So when somebody is suffering similarly, from their own doing or from God's calling; they can find that they aren't alone. They can see how another experienced similar suffering and this be comforted and guided. Give thanks to God!

Are we sure this "Jesus" wasn't a demon is disguise? This is not the Jesus I would want to encounter. This entity seems to rejoice in her suffering. This seems like a demon.

      I'm wondering the same thing.
My life got harder as I converted to Christ, but I feel like not only my soul was cleansed, but my mind and body as well.
I feel sickness, actually, as separation from God, not Him "cleansing the soul", this doesn't feel biblical at all.
Job started to suffer because God separated from Him, and before Jesus cures someone, He forgive them of their sin.
