    This week, I continue with the second video in my Intake/PCV/OCC series by installing a pcv plate from Damond Motorsports. It was a lot of work to clean the carbon from my valves, adding a pcv plate is a part of the solution that will help my valves stay cleaner!

    One trick I found when installing and seating the pcv gasket on the valve… if the valve is stubborn and doesn’t want to click in, take the gasket and place it in the plate where it needs to go. Then push the valve into the hole and it will click through much easier. 👍🏽

    Getting those oil blow-by vapors under control!

      Soni have a few questions for you sir. I have major oil leakage in my intake manifold and a misfire on cylinder 4. I've taken out the plugs and found cylinder 4 full of oil left cylinder open for a few hours and all oil was still in cylinder and the oil didnt leak through piston rings. I Vacuumed out the oil of cylinder number 4 and did compression test first 3 cylinders was pretty much identical pressure where as cylinder 4 had bout 20 psi more then the other 3 guessing it didnt wear out that piston bore much with all that oil in it. Also checked cylinder 4 with video scope and valves inside the piston chamber was seating fine no major carbon build up. After checking all of Mazdas worksheet manual for the 2.0l LF engine which is very non descriptive for a manufacturer manual l could not find any reasoning for the major leakage besides the pcv valve being bad. Also had fault for bad Variable intake air shutter solenoid valve (believe is due to the major oil leakage) tested the valve and found continuity through terminals so I know valve is bad and needs replaced. Tested the intake solenoid actuators both working fine. Saw your video of removing the VTCS as well would that also delete the Shutter valve too? Or will I need to replace the valve still?

      It can be your valve cover gasket

    • @FiveFiveGarage
      @FiveFiveGarage  4 роки тому

      You could have bad valve seals, I just recently went through this with my Miata engine (which is why I am tearing it apart). Unfortunately the only way to know for sure is to tear the head down and replace them. If you drive your car in the cold months (I don't) I wouldn't recommend removing the VTCS. Your cold starts will be rough. I would replace the shutter valve. If you are going to remove the VTCS, the shutter valve is removed as well as the actuators.

    Keep making videos man! Helped me out. I order a bunch of kits for my speed6 a year or two ago and now im putting it together and wasnt sure what kits was part of what.
    I started freaking out about why my pcv valve wouldnt fit in right. Didnt know that snap ring was part of the pcv plate. THANKS A LOT MAN.

      That had to be a tight fit! When I put my intake back on, I had to route a pvc line to my catch can and there wasn't a lot of room down there. How long did it take you to do it with the manifold in the way?

    I cant tell you how happy I am that I found your videos! I know they're a bit old but I'm just now getting to the intake valve cleaning, PnP intake mani, egr and pcv delete and these are going to save me so many headaches! Keep up the awesome work man thank you! My one question is, how was installing the OCC after everything was put back together?

    • @FiveFiveGarage
      @FiveFiveGarage  6 років тому

      It wasn't too bad. The hardest part was routing the hoses to the PCV plate with the intake in the way. Mounting the can is easy as long as you don't have a front mount intercooler (it gets a little tight if you do). Glad you found them! I have some more Speed 3 vids coming soon, finally changing to a set of coilovers (just waiting for them to arrive).

    Hey Randy Nick here I have a question I installed this pvc plate but used my stock pcv hose and it popped off did you use an aftermarket hose and better clamps? As you know the stock pcv hose is pre bent and I couldnt get it to bend nicely to fit the intake.

    • @FiveFiveGarage
      @FiveFiveGarage  6 років тому

      I used an aftermarket hose, I installed a catch can right after this and used new hose for everything.

  • @bblover4ever1984
    @bblover4ever1984 6 років тому

    Ok Awsome did you run the car without the catch can at all. I think the reason mine blew off was cause I forgot to tighten it lol

    • @FiveFiveGarage
      @FiveFiveGarage  6 років тому

      I installed everything at the same time, I had the car torn down a bit when I cleaned the valves. But definitely check all your connections! It's a bit of a pain to get back in there with the car together.

    Would some Ptfe tape+some loctite work for the damond pcv plugs?

    • @FiveFiveGarage
      @FiveFiveGarage  5 років тому

      I am really hesitant to use PTFE tape, because sometimes when screwing things in, there are strands of the tape that break loose, and I wouldn't want to that be potentially floating around in the engine. That liquid thread sealer is the business though, I use it for everything now.

    Thankyou my friend. Would you reccomend this mod on a non modified engine or is it not nessicary?

    • @FiveFiveGarage
      @FiveFiveGarage  4 роки тому

      On an unmodded engine its not necessary. Just replace the PCV valve with another oem one and you will be fine. Pushing higher levels of boost will cause some problems and this plate helps solve it.

    I have a question should I get the egr delete if I wanna get the oil catch can or how should I go about doing that

    • @FiveFiveGarage
      @FiveFiveGarage  3 роки тому

      You can run a catch can without getting the EGR Delete. I would definitely replace the PCV valve with a new one and then run your oil catch can setup. The catch can will actually help the EGR system stay cleaner.

      @@FiveFiveGarage ops what I meant to say was what happends if I do the pvc plate without having the catch can already would it be better to have both pcv plate and catch can at the same time ?

    • @FiveFiveGarage
      @FiveFiveGarage  3 роки тому

      You can do them seperately. It is just easier to add the catch can lines while you have most of the car apart.

    Hey five 5 garage great videos! Im considering the pcv plate myself but im just running a stage 1 occ. So since im not running any additional occ setups and wouldnt use the other ports in the damond pcv plate is it benifcial in any way to get the damond plate instead of using the factory plate?

    • @FiveFiveGarage
      @FiveFiveGarage  4 роки тому

      If you aren't going to run more OCCs probably not. I did for future proofing, I have the extra cans just haven't installed them yet.

    If you don’t mind, where’d you get that ford part number for the gasket? I’m trying to see if the intake manifold and throttle body gaskets are cross platform since I get a discount at ford. Also do you know if the PCV valve is ford too? Thanks man.

    • @FiveFiveGarage
      @FiveFiveGarage  6 років тому

      From what I remember, the PCV valve is Mazda specific. But the gasket is a shared part number between Ford and Mazda. I ordered everything from Damond Motorsports, here is the link: damondmotorsports.com/products/pcv-valve-and-pcv-gasket . Hope that helps!
