Isnt bleak watcher technically possible for all stasis nades but set to the max cooldown of glacier regardless? It was just almost entirely a coldsnap hound because of the dual nade exotic until the new one came out this season.
There is a lot of freezing going on there! The damage is applied over a very long duration, but it certainly wouldn't hurt having a Stasis Turret passively chugging away during a damage phase. 😁👍
@@IronworkerGaming I think this test underestimates bleak watcher boss damage because you're waiting for the auto-shatter, which takes 3 seconds. Bleak watcher fires a burst every two seconds so _in theory_ you could be getting a shatter every two seconds by shooting (depending on if there's a cooldown on slow application after a shatter). That said, I don't think bleak watcher is going to do meaningful boss dps either way. It does contribute a lot of damage and CC to your neutral game though.
Another excellent video. For duskfield and bleak watcher, you can definitely add more damage by instantly shattering. Sitll all of them do more damage than I realized.
Thank you very much! I gotta say, I was a bit surprised myself to see how much damage some of the grenades could deal...even with leaving some damage on the table while waiting for the passive shatter! 👍🍻
I'll be damned. I had to try it out for myself, but you're 100% correct. I don't think I've ever tried hitting an Overload with either grenade directly, but it absolutely works! 👍🍻
Something that isn't spoken about often enough is the sound of Stasis crystals breaking. It's so good 🤌🏼! I'm curious to know if you did any testing with the Iceflare Bolts aspect. It does play a part in freezing a target with a Stasis grenade.
No doubt about that! The shatter sound effect is sooo satisfying!! I didn't really dig into Ice Flair bolts for the video, but if I'm remembering correctly, it should allow any freeze chain to spawn out to 5 additional targets. 👍👍
Duskfield got super pumped up in final shape, due to them doubling shatter damage. They, unfortunately, didn't touch crystal that much. And I'm glad the sword seemed to passify the ogre! Hope it continues to help you, especially with solar grenades. You get so much damage resistance with the sword, you could walk up to the ogre and make it slam, which will lock it in place even further. And as always, your data presentation and breakdowns are always on point. Thank you!
To clarify for Bleak Watcher - you do not need to have Coldsnap equipped and it will override the cooldown to that of Glacier Grenade regardless of which grenade is selected.
First off, we need a Verity's Brow ornament Secondly, we could use more grenade for Stasis/Strand. Grenade damage isn't everything, but it is always fun to have more options. Thirdly, Death Throes (from Verity's Brow or the exotic class items} do work on Stasis grenades, not significant enough of a damage boost to consider, but Verity's Brow was my double-turret exotic before Osmiomancy Gloves, and even after the timer nerf, it still can keep up when enemy density is high, where double turrets are needed most.
I agree on all points, and I would love to see more Strand and Stasis grenades added! I really think adding a few more grenades to play around with would be a great addition to the subclasses! 👍👍
I need Bungee to rework the tonics application, by introducing a toggle, for to enable/disable the auto applying the damn thing, i have a sht ton of green/blue stuff, i can't be bothered to get them endlessly!
Point of correction, you don’t need to have cold snap equiped to be able to use a stasis turret, you can have the wall or the snowball equipped and still are able to charge a turret Edit: seems someone beet me to this particular comment
@ I mean, with the advent of rime-coat the freedom of choice for grenades is much more open, which resulted in me selecting the wall for its immediate damage potential and the ability to block off a group of painful adds (also I have no solid proof but I believe it causes freeze the fastest of the three options since it doesn’t have the cold-snaps issue of needing to recognise a target
Correct. I tried with and without, and the crystal melted down after 15 seconds in both cases. I would assume this is because the Stasis crystals are not specifically bound to the grenade since they can be created by other means as well. 👍👍
Absolutely! I actually was going to roll Stasis and Strand into one video...but then I realized how much I wanted to cover with the Stasis Grenades on there own! 😅👍
While the first 2 do technically deal higher damage, Stasis Grenades are so wonky in their actual implementation, I can't help but just stick with Coldsnaps. Glad to know that I'm technically using the worst option lmao
wow i always thought fissures with glacier was like an insane amount of damage, its only about 10k more. id rather have the utility of another fragment than that..
I'm wondering if Whispers of Fissures damage got knocked back at some point. In the past I had assumed it was a "must equip" but it's really not given the numbers that we we're seeing. 👍👍
I learned that Fissures isn’t really all that crazy. It extends that shatter damage range by 1 meter and doesn’t actually improve damage, I think people found that it just adds a second “burst” to the shatter? It’s been a while since I looked
@@IronworkerGaming Fissures damages is unchanged, but Bungie doubled shatter damage in the Final Shape, so you're getting half the relative benefit now. So yeah, it's not a good fragment, and I wince when I see streamers recommend it.
@@ChromaticDiscord Plus the fissures burst apparently doesn't inherit damage source like the stasis crystal does (e.g. crystals formed by a grenade count as grenade damage, crystals formed by headstone count as the weapon that created it) so it can lead to inconsistent mod/perk interactions depending on what actually gets the tag.
Does anyone else think stasis crystal shatter damage needs to be higher at base? Waaaay back in Beyond Light, Bungie acknowledged that they wanted targeting stasis crystals for shattering should be a higher priority than targeting frozen combatants. Since around the time of the stasis nerfs at the end of Beyond Light, the crystals have felt like utility keywords and not offensive ones, in my opinion. Feel free to disagree. The shattering for frozen targets feels quite strong as is, though. Bungo, plz let crystal shatters be useful outside of utility from stasis fragments, Behemoth supers, and the Hail the Storm artefact mod. Shatterdive PvE damage when?
I do think Stasis as a whole seems to be in an odd spot. While I still enjoy using the subclass, it could use some general retuning. I wish Bungie would have focused a little more on reworking what we already had rather than injecting Frost Armor as a feature. I'm really trying to embrace it, but Frost Armor is feeling like a lot of work for a rather moderate benefit. 👍👍
@@IronworkerGaming At least we got plenty of tools to build Frost Armor this season? I was looking forward to it when it was mentioned in a TWID in early Wish, but release FA was *not* worth anything. Do hunter's and warlocks now have a harder time maintaining WM in a way that might make FA more appealing?).
@@IronworkerGaming Yeah, you either have to heavily invest in fragments for frost armour, or you have to invest an aspect into it. Stasis has the best weapon synergies with its subclass, probably tied with solar. Chill clip is like the equivalent of a solar special weapon applying 50 scorch on hit at 50%+ ammo. Headstone kinda sucks because stasis crystals do very low damage individually; the internal cooldown is no longer necessary. Rimestealer is solid for being a versatile defensive perk that doesn't only rely on kills. If only Bungo would have given chill clip to Lost Signal. That would have been insane. Shadebinder was already great in its niche and is now even crazier. Behemoth was niche but powerful in GMs (though I wish Bungie hadn't made barrier champions able to unfreeze themselves; it's kinda BS and makes Stasis useless when barriers are present). Revenant has never been niche outside of reloading easily in damage phases. Shatterdive is really bad even though it's THE poster child for Revenant aspects. Touch of Winter is alright. The Revenant stasis shard aspect (whose name escapes me at this moment) is the worst of all the stasis shard aspects by far. because it is the only one which requires kills. Winter's Shroud is a joke outside of Prismatic. Sadly, Revenant is best played on Prismatic and is the only stasis subclass that doesn't have any setup that is better on pure stasis. I have many balancing rants, so I'mma end this one here before it diverges into ranting about how power crept Void, Arc, and Strand are.
@@Glaedien Warlocks can only get woven mail from the fragment that gives it for 5s on orb pickup. Hunters can use Cyrtarachne's Facade or Spirit of Cyrtarachne to get it for 10s. Threadrunners have some difficulty maintaining woven mail, but Prismatic Hunters can have it up around 100% of the time.
