For those that don't know, Scott vs the T-Rex is a running gag on his channel, along with his "dumb brother" Scooter. And to answer the question, no one uses these for home defense unless they have more money than sense. Some of these are gadget rounds, on the verge of being novelties. Some like the flechette or the Rhodesian combo are things that were experiments that never worked as hoped but turned into legends. The others are really advanced and somewhat experimental designs. You normally just use basic buckshot (6-9mm pellets)- pistols put holes in them, rifles put holes through them, and shotguns tears shit off and throw it on the floor.
There was a baby T. Rex for a few episodes, up until the Doom Slayer Super Shotgun episode a couple of weeks ago. That hinted at the existence of two adult T. Rexes. That would have been, ah, interesting if allowed to develop. EDIT: "Aepisode"? More like "fat fingers".

TBH, pro's don't really recommend these type of rounds for HD, they're more of a novelty thing really. Yeah, some gun noobs will use them 'cause "cool", but you will NEVER see a professional soldier or police officer using rounds like this. 00 buck, #1 or maybe #4, that's about it(excluding less than lethal rounds like bean bags, etc.). That being said, you should still DEFINITELY fear a shotgun. The rounds I mentioned are MORE effective than these novelty rounds, that's why pro's don't use them. Also, video games sell shotguns WAY short in terms of range in the name of game balancing. edit: The door breaching rounds, maybe? But not at targets, for...door breaching lol.
It's always interesting to see how people who aren't too educated in the types of firearms and their corresponding ammunition types react. Sometimes I forget that not everyone knows stuff about them.
Just to give you a BASIC brake down of how many types of SHOTGUN shells their are, you have: Buckshot (of varying amounts), Flechette, Slugs, Dragons Breath (Fire Slugs), Frag (basicly mini Grenades). Then ya got stuff like Beanbag rounds, Breaching rounds, so on and so forth. Shoguns are indeed the most Tactical weapon one can own.
There's rock salt also for non lethal rounds, i heard it hurts like hell too Depending on your model you could absolutely reload your own custom shells and shoot whatever you like, it's a modern day blunderbuss
@@YuikaiChannel Eh, its mostly the Ammo. Shoguns are pretty simple on a technical level. After all shotguns are almost as old a Firearms themselves. The Earliest common example being a Blunderbuss (or some variation of that name) where you just shove whatever you have at hand in the flared barrel with some gun powder and pull the trigger. Skip forward a few centuries and you get the CLASSIC Double Barrel Side by side (otherwise known as a couch gun), shortly followed over the course of the 1800s by not 1 not 2 but 3 designs by the LORD AND SAVIOR OF GUN DESIGN, John Moses Browning. JMB made a Lever Action (If you have ever seen Terminator, THAT shotgun), Semi Auto (most commonly referred to as a Trenchgun since it saw most of its action during ww1) and even the first Full Auto shotgun (The Browning auto 5, kicked like a mule, but it was fully automatic. 5 shell capacity). And shotguns didn't really change much since then, besides being made of plastic/polymers instead of wood. although more recently we have more Fully Automatic shotguns, such as the AA12.

Seemed like Yuikai didn't understand the importance of lethality in a defensive weapon, so I'll explain. Lethality in a defensive weapon is important because someone that's wounded is still a life endangering threat, and humans basically have a natural combat stimulant called adrenaline that can suppress the recognition of pain. Really, only the military uses ammunition not designed to maximize lethality for conflict to my knowledge.
@@YuikaiChannel That's a complicated question to answer, but I will try my best. Every state in the USA has different laws regarding home defense/self-defense, but there will always be an investigation to determine if the victim acted lawfully, so I suppose there will always be "questions asked." But to explain the legality of it, there are three types of self-defense laws, stand your ground, duty to retreat, and castle doctrine. Stand your ground means a person can use force or deadly force in instances of unlawful entry into one’s home, vehicle, place of employment, or in the public, depending on the state, without the duty to retreat. Duty to retreat means you must first run away from the threat before legally being able to apply force against them unless you are unable to retreat, such as being cornered or physically restrained. Castle Doctrine is similar to the stand your ground law but is limited to your property. Each state can employ some mix of these laws, and they will have their own stipulations and policies you also must follow. Some examples being that you must warn the invader and command them to leave, you must use "less than lethal" force such as pepper spray or tasers, or you must use "less lethal force" such as bird shot. Bird shot is a shotgun shell with very small pellets that is ineffective against large animals like humans. There's probably more to it than that, but I'm not a lawyer, and even lawyers don't know everything about each different state's laws. But that pretty much sums up self-defense in America, and personally, I'd rather live in a state that allows me to defend myself immediately without restraint, as I'd rather not allow someone to kill me. I hope that answers your question, and please let me know if there's anything else you're curious about!
@@YuikaiChannel They're actually really ineffective at anything but potentially setting the grass on fire! Simple fact is, unless something's really dry and is basically tinder the exposure to heat isn't long enough to light something on fire. So shooting someone with dragon's breath is incredibly unlikely to set them ablaze or even give them a significant burn. Regular shotgun shells are significantly more effective. They look extremely cool though.
The fun thing about shotgun shells is that you could potentially put just about anything in them, since it composed of the load, the gunpowder and a wad between the two to propel the load forward. I remember some old videos (not sure they are still up) where people would just experiment with weird stuff inside shotgun shells, from Playdoh to batteries to a pile of dimes, with each of them procuring various degrees of effectiveness.
Shotguns have their origins from the black-powder days with the "Blunderbuss". Shotguns, essentially will fire anything you can cram into their shell-casings, just like the original Blunderbuss would fire anything you stuffed down its barrel. I recently saw a video where someone was putting Lipo-Batteries into them and the battery itself was the 'bullet'. They exploded against AND 'inside' the ballistics jell target when they hit, leaving sing-marks and shrapnel all over inside the target.
If you liked the channel and Scott, "My 50 Cal Exploded" is a must-watch. Also Kentucky Kustomz is every bit as goofy, but centered around cars and with the participation of his father, Scott Sr. Have a like!
Thank you for reacting to Kentucky Ballistics. He's a great guy, great channel, and has really been through a lot. Nearly died a couple years ago with a catastrophic rifle failure. Got back up and kept at it. He has a ton of energy, and now experiments with failures in firearms. Also yes, Body armor will protect from most shotgun types. A3 would be more than enough. If you ever react to him again, you should do the series on how he nearly died with the .50Cal failure. He talks about it, but also lays out the parts to explain in detail how the SLAP round was too "hot" as they say. Scott of Kentucky Ballistics, though, he has a heart of gold. Great guy.
Chat: "The 700 Nitro Express is a large round" Meanwhile the 30mm Depleted Uranium rounds fired from the GAU 8 Avenger mounted in the A-10 Tunderbolt: "am I a joke to you?"
Clint Smith once said "Body Armor is only really effective against those competent enough to hit it, you get someone who is incompetent or is intentionally aiming for a part of the body not covered by armor and suddenly that expensive armor is about as useful as a paperweight". Shotguns can have many different types of projectiles ranging from thousands of tiny shards/pieces of metal to large heavy single bullets (called slugs), your average bullet proof vest with or without trauma plates can usually stop small shards of metal from penetrating (or at least reduce the damage they would cause). However the average shotgun load most people use (12 gauge OO Buckshot) has about eight(8) 0.33" (3.82mm) diameter metal spheres (the metal spheres are referred to as "shot") which will spread out over a long distance and create a patterning on the target which may or may not hit the armor or an unarmored portion of the body.
If you enjoyed this, I highly recommend checking out taofledermaus, he’s put bubble gum, Vienna sausages, etc. inside shotgun shells, I also highly recommend watching Kentucky ballistics other videos 😂
Also, I'll point out that "STD" is still common terminology in the US. But we also have the term "Sexually Transmitted Infection" because not all such infections necessarily cause an active disease. Some may be asymptomatic for decades, or even a lifetime. So it's technically more accurate to refer to them as an infection, which they all are, than a disease, which some may not be.
Back when American Doughboys fought in the First World War in 1917, they used shotguns such as the Winchester Model 1897 to clear trenches. The German government commonly saw their use as “inhumane” due to its supposed breach of the Hague Convention on Land Warfare written a decade before. They said that shotgun ammunition caused “unnecessary suffering”, which is a bit hypocritical on their part due to their use of mustard gas and flamethrowers. The Germans sought to severely punish any American soldier armed with these shotguns should they be captured, however the reports on these treatments have not been very common. The Winchester 97 was effective in close quarters, especially when a soldier knew how to slam-fire the weapon. Essentially it’s when he pulls down the trigger and moves the forend back and forth allowing for a rapid succession of buckshot to be fired.
I had the biggest grin when Yui asked if we Americans use these types of things for home defense. If some idiot is stupid enough or brave enough to try to break into a stranger’s house, all bets are off. Your house is the one place in the world where you should feel safest and the second someone enters in, uninvited with hostile intent, that safety is gone and they’re a threat. Hence the crazy ass shotgun shells. Plus, all those shells are just cool as hell.
I'd recommend that you go ahead and take a look at Garand Thumb's videos on this sort of subject. Using ballistics gel dummies, they test various weapons and record the results. It's fun, humorous, and makes me laugh every time.
It warms my heart to see her watching this, reacting. Anyone is welcome to come here and go to the gun ranges here. Scott in the video has an awesome setup and does work with some youtubers.
Just remember, the current US President wants these to be the only thing used for home defense instead of a pistol, PCC(Pistol caliber carbine), or rifle
Saw a video of a guy on a horse drawn carriage who had the upper half of his face shot off by a shotgun point blank. His family, who was riding with him, could only cry and hold his lifeless body as the camera continues to film.
"Pistols put holes into people. Rifle puts holes through people. Shoguns with the right range, with the right load will physically remove a chunk of shit out of your target and throw that shit in the ground."
Body armor offers bullet protection, but they are not bulletproof. They are usually rated for a given caliber, and a given number of rounds of that caliber. They don't usually cover all the body, however it is sort of a given that a shooter will aim for center mass as its the easiest target to hit, thus body armor protecting the center mass and around it (especially the heart) is common. The energy of the bullet is still transferred to the body over a larger surface area when it hits, and can still cause damage such as broken ribs. You can defeat body armor with one simple trick: shoot more rounds into it, or bigger rounds, or both. As I said, they are not bulletproof.
A bit of trivia. Scott had one of his rifles, a .50 cal, explode. The shrapnel did some major damage to him, including lacerating the artery in his neck. He literally had to stick his thumb in the wound to keep him from bleeding out until emergency services could get there. Hence the meaning behind his "Stick a thumb in it" shirts. One tough dude, to be sure.

Secret to knowing what dumps the most energy into a target…. The most Recoil, with the least penetration. Equal and opposite. The more recoil you feel, the more energy you know you sent. If the projectile goes completely through, then you didn’t fully dump that energy into the target. A projectile that gets stuck in the target has dumped all it’s kinetic energy.

Administrative Results usually has him doing some "Flat Range LARPing" in his vids where he runs around pretending to be in a fight and shooting the gun he's talking about and sometimes he lets himself get shot at by machine guns (while hiding behind a berm), the Demolition Ranch guys are goofy fun, Brandon Herrera is mostly sarcasm and memes and a bit edgy, and Garand Thumb is usually more subtle as a deadpan snarker. And of course there's Kentucky Ballistics, who really love to make the ridiculous displays of stuff getting shot like the video you watched.
I dunno what would work as Twitch reaction fodder; some of the other guys' videos can be more informative or semi-serious, especially if they're reviewing a specific gun model or running ammo tests. They're still funny at times, but also more focused, so you might want to either sample one or two first to see if it's something that will work for you, or have someone recommend it. Myself, I'd suggest a video Garand Thumb did a couple of weeks ago where they were shooting tank guns at a special range, it's fun stuff. Best of luck!
@@YuikaiChannel oh boy, there are WAY MORE gun tubers out there
Edwin Sarkissian, iraqveteran888, Hickok45, Texas Plinking, GUNBROS, Forgotten Weapons (they focus more on explains the origin and functionality of weapons that were unknown or forgotten), Arm&Gun (he’s Canadian yet owns every weapon banned to the public), FPS Russia (no longer uploads because he was arrested and had all of his weapons taken away), Donut Operator (although he focuses on law enforcement, he still pretty much part of the gun community), Polenear Tactical, etc. I can name more, but this is all I’ll list.
Ya'll straight gaslighted her on the SDI. SDI is Sonoran Desert Institute. It's basically a university for guns, how to repair them, make them, everything.

Yes sir XD I'll do my best!
As Clint Smith from Thunder Ranch once say, "with the right round at a right distance, you can physically remove chucks of a person using a shotgun "
And Scott's episodes with shotguns and zombie torsos are great proof of that.
Wholesome Yui, and good lord... this is why I'm afraid of anyone wielding a shotgun... you never know what's coming out of the muzzle 😰
Shotgun mystery box challenge, put a bunch of random shells in a box and load em one by one without looking, then even the one shooting it won't have a clue
Your not afraid of someone pointing any other gun at you on the contrary?

I'm glad you're happy
Just to give you a BASIC brake down of how many types of SHOTGUN shells their are, you have: Buckshot (of varying amounts), Flechette, Slugs, Dragons Breath (Fire Slugs), Frag (basicly mini Grenades). Then ya got stuff like Beanbag rounds, Breaching rounds, so on and so forth.
Shoguns are indeed the most Tactical weapon one can own.
Flechette
@@seija8588 THANK YOU! i could not remember for the life of me how to spell that.
There's rock salt also for non lethal rounds, i heard it hurts like hell too
Depending on your model you could absolutely reload your own custom shells and shoot whatever you like, it's a modern day blunderbuss
Thank you for the quick explanation!
It's only recently I've started to understand how complex a shotgun is XD

@@YuikaiChannel the best way to describe him is zoomer humor with access to guns and a youtube account. His intros are very good cinematically and while most of his videos are reviews on firearms and stuff there is a lot of humor going on with them. It's mostly Vine humor.
Over is one allowed to take out someone invading their home??
Like no questions asked
@@YuikaiChannel That's a complicated question to answer, but I will try my best.
Every state in the USA has different laws regarding home defense/self-defense, but there will always be an investigation to determine if the victim acted lawfully, so I suppose there will always be "questions asked."
But to explain the legality of it, there are three types of self-defense laws, stand your ground, duty to retreat, and castle doctrine.
9:40
Holy shit!!! It hollowed that dummy out!!! You’re definitely not getting up from that!!! 😮
I was really hoping he would use the Dragons Breath rounds her reaction to that would have been hilarious.
I saw the dragon breath in John wick 4!!
That... was ... something else woah
I assume the playdoh was non lethal ? XD
@@YuikaiChannel It was an attempt at a non-lethal shell similar to a beanbag round yeah. No idea if it worked or not though.
Pretty cool reaction Yui! Those shotgun rounds did some major damage!

Also yes, Body armor will protect from most shotgun types. A3 would be more than enough.

Yui should watch his near death experience, might help foster some understanding of how dangerous these things can be, and how careful you need to be.

If I’m not mistaken, shotguns were basically handheld war crimes back WWI or WWII 😂
Eh? It was illegal back then?
Never thought I'd see a mix of Vtubers and Kentucky Ballistics in one video but I hope I find more

If some idiot is stupid enough or brave enough to try to break into a stranger’s house, all bets are off. Your house is the one place in the world where you should feel safest and the second someone enters in, uninvited with hostile intent, that safety is gone and they’re a threat.

I love watching you learn why the pump of a shotgun is one of the scariest things a burglar can hear.
fudd lore
I keep reading text on the thumbnail as "erotic shells".
I definitely didn't expect a v-tuber to react to a Scott video, but it is a pleasant surprise!
