I bought the Skin 1004 centella serum for my niece, who has rosacea, and she *loves* it! I know quite a few people who are interested in K Beauty, but don't know where to start. I remember being overwhelmed with choice when I first started too - a K Beauty starter guide might be a good video? I'm sure you've done one before but an updated one? I'm obsessed with the Belif aqua bomb toner in the blue bottle. I layer it at night in-between all my skincare its so so good
I agree! I would like to up my skincare product game and I want the quality of K-beauty but have no idea what brands to trust, why, what product types to try out. 🥺 It's still so much to navigate. But I know James would tell us his sincere observations and help us have directions to work with to find our way or at least where to start. 😊
Totally love this idea of, like a k beauty bible. What's the difference between an essence and an ampoule? Generally what order do products go in, etc. James is always so great at explaining, without seeming condescending.
I love Skin1004 products. The centella ampoule is the Best to use as a step 1. It keeps your face so hydrated. Works better than hyaluronic acid, for me anyway.
The fluffy wristbands (like a scrunchie) for washing your face are amazing! I hated cleansing my skin over the sink because I hate feeling it running down my arms, but I got these wristbands from Yesstyle and they are a life changer! They're so comfy I sometimes forget to take them off afterwards, $4 well spent.
I don't use cleansing oils because they always get into my eyes, and then, I have to deal with that film in my eyes for an hour or more after, as a consequence of trying to remove eye make-up. What I DO use K-Beauty cleansing oils for is shaving. They are excellent for providing glide, protection and soothing during and after shaving with NO fragrance. I haven't found anything superior to them for shaving. And, they last a Long time.
I used to have the same problem but I don't like cleansing balm it breaks me out. Since I am oily I really need to double cleanse, so what I do when using cleansing oil is rinse my eyes thoroughly but gently. A good and legit cleansing oil should have a high rinsability, I never had a problem since I started to rinse it really well around the eyes.
@@sebrinadickerson3341idk for me i just squeeze my eyes shut, massage in the oil on my eyes for a good bit, without opening eyes i immediately wash off. Dry, and then cleanse the rest of my face so i can see lol.
I recently got the Skin 1004 light cleansing oil a few days ago and let me just say this oil is amazing, the scent is therapeutic. It really washes off so easily, and it’s great for massaging away those oil plugs. I had really congested skin and my pores are so clear now in just two days.
I've been struggling with eczema/rashes on my face, and Korean skincare has been really helping my skin feel soothed! The formulations are just so gentle most of the time, my sensitive skin gets along so well with them!
@vickynguyen2129 beauty of joseon has a great line of products that have been helping me. Their cleansing balm especially has been very nourishing rather than stripping. Ingerdients like centella, snail muscin, and propolis have also been really nice for hydrating and repairing my dry and inflamed patches. You wanna look for things that are gonna reduce inflammation, deeply hydrate, and repair the skin barrier.
I've been using the Beauty of Joseon product line (primarily the cleansing balm, toner, serums, and dynasty cream), as well as COSRX's rice sleep mask ♡
I have those on my hands. They are due to stress so there isn't really anything i can do to cure them, but skincare definitely makes it worse, due to the parfum/scents in it... I haven't tried a good korean skincare brand yet, but as much as i know, they also have parfums. I'm glad to know they are working on you, as I'm planning to try out the BoJ
I got the belif moisturizer in an ipsy bag way back in 2015, it was the first skincare I'd ever used that wasn't something like clean n clear or Neutrogena and it blew my mind how nice and smooth it was and how my skin just soaked it up instead of feeling greasy.
Many apologies James but you saying propolis, cracked me up. Every time you said it and you actually managed to make an extremely sad person laugh ❤👏🇬🇧
I'm so glad I follow you. While we may not have the same skin problems, we both have overly sensitive skin. This means I can trust your recommendations more than other people's; you're less likely to recommended something that irritates my skin.
I love the CosRx Ph balance cleanser. It reminds me of exactly the second cleanser you described. The price point is a bonus. I live in Very COLD AND WINDY Wy. USA. so during winter even with oily skin with hormonal breakouts the CosRx is the only one to keep my face clear and perfectly balanced. I love the K-Beauty. Not to harsh but very effective!
My skin has always been very sensitive & redness prone, but I'm currently pregnant & it's just gone insane. My skin was so red & inflamed & DRY, it was literally flaking off & so painful...I needed a new face wash anyway so on your recommendation I tried the Skin1004 Madagascar Centella cleansing foam & OMG how it has healed my skin. I've been obsessed with Kbeauty for a while since it's often way less harsh on sensitive skin than other products & I have a cleansing oil for the few occasions I wear makeup, but just like you said it's very runny & often difficult to keep in my hands. I'll definitely try the Skin1004 oil you recommended! Thanks for sharing all your knowledge James, it is very much appreciated!! 🫶🫶
It's so nice! It feels like it actually does something without irritating my super-sensitive eyes. And the little applicator tool is neat. Can't speak to any 'visible lift', though.
The mixsoon bean essence is by far one of my favorite products of all time. The skincare this past year has really been full of amazing releases. I don’t name holy grails often but some of my absolute favorites include the biore watery sunscreen, iunik centella gel cream, goodal green tangerine vita c serum, and the mixsoon bean essence. I’m super picky about what I buy and very cheap. So if I buy something them I absolutely feel like it’s worth the money! I’ve been able to try more skincare nowadays since I actually got a job now (graduated college). So I’m on a mission to find my forever products ❤
Wow I picked up both the cleansing oil and mugwort mask from Jolse during black friday sales and they really are great! I almost got that mixsoon essence too, so I'll grab it next time. 😊
I love your ad disclosures. Unlike what a lot of deceptive influencers seem to think, disclosing doesn’t always decrease sales or make you seem cash-grabby. I bought that Tocobo Lip Mask as you had talked about it in another video and I LOVE IT! My lips are not dry in the morning! Thank you for the recommendation!!!!!!!!
The eye cream you mentioned was in the Style Korean box/Christmas calendar thing and i love it. Before this one I used the entire product package of the glow recipe one and then biossaince (which was my first and favorite eye cream during college) and honestly I am not even thinking about ever repurchasing the other 2 after this one. Every morning it saves me from looking like I just woke up and had 5 hours of sleep lol I don’t wear makeup daily but didn’t have any rolling with this product specifically, which is my biggest pet peeve. I do think it plumps the eye area and “lifts” I don’t need that either I’m 25 but overall it has helped my dark circles and plumped it up from looking sunken in.
I was using micellar water as the first step of my double cleanse for a hot minute because every balm I tried would always make me feel ick when it would get in my eyes, but I got the Anua Heartleaf cleansing oil and I LOVE it. It reminds me of the Dermallogica one in terms of how silky it feels and how good it smells but once you add water it emulsifies beautifully and doesn’t really leave residue behind like most cleansing oils. Honestly I’ve been loving Anua in general lately, I use their Heartleaf toner layered with the Skin1004 Poremizing toner and the Anua Heartleaf Soothing Ampoule. It’s done amazing things for my rosacea and sensitive but combo acne prone skin.
What with you going back to some of your old favourites I really thought I was going to see the I'm From Rice Toner!! Its still my go to toner after you suggested it years ago! I can see K-beauty trending again as have had a few work colleagues asking for recommendations as they know I love it. Just started using the Skin 1004 centella ampoule and sun serum can see why there they are so popular!
Would you be able to at some point if you feel like it (😅) make a video of what the different steps are, like 1) exfoliate 2) ?? Etc like I don’t know when to use essences or serums or toners. I want to look like the glass skin thing , my skin has rosacea and is quite dry right now and I want to pamper it but trust you the most ☺️ Love all your videos!
CNP's propolis ampule is amazing!! It helps so much with redness and acne, it makes my face shiny and soft the next day :) It's become a staple in my routine I use it every night and apply it to a semi-dry face, then I gently pat it in and once it's absorbed I finish up with a moisturizer!
Wanted to let you know that I purchased the Tocobo lip mask on your rec, and I LOVE it! I've never had a lip goop feel so good when applied and last so long. Thanks for the rec
I Love this type of videos. I find them very interesting and informative. Is there any skin care products you would recommend for sensitive eczema prone skin?
Yes the product is amazing but I had some problems with packaging I think it's quite inconvenient because the texture of cleanser is very thick and it's difficult to push out from tube
I'd love to see you review Allies of skin. My dad is now trying their new anti aging serum and he had me try it and I'm super impressed. Its def high end tho. I think they have a more affordable sister brand. But Idk how available it is for UK
I know this isn’t a KBeauty brand but Fourth Ray (sister brand to Colour Pop) makes lip balms in a tub that have that softer feel because I know exactly what James means 🫦
So pleased you’re digging out some oldies… K-Beauty is coming up with new products so rapidly it’s very hard not to feel overwhelmed. I’m back on old favourites because I don’t want to spend money on things that aren’t as effective.
With the Heimish eye cream, I don’t necessarily notice any lifting happening, but it’s the only eye cream I’ve used that actually helped with the “chicken skin” texture I had. I saw someone complain about the price but it has lasted me a lot longer than I thought it would. (I bought it after watching a video James posted over a year ago)
Thanks for posting your results re: chicken skin under-eye texture! I have the same and never thought something might resolve this. Gonna give it a shot. 🤞Grateful for your comment! 🪷
Hi James. I am using Heimish Marine Cream. I have combo skin with oily T zone, but my under eye area is dry. I noticed, that it gets absorbed fast, but it doesn't do much for hydrating my eye area. It actually makes it dry if I use it along with BOJ Ginseng/Retinal serum. May be it's not a good idea to mix them. I found, that Innisfree Green Tea eye cream makes my under eye more plump and hold hydration long.
I recently swapped to a k-beauty cleansing oil because I felt like my Then I Met You balm didn't last as long as I wished it did, which made it expensive to repurchase. It was between the Mixsoon bean one and the Skin1004 one (I already love their sunscreen and pro-bio cica moisturiser they're amazing!). I chose the Mixsoon one in the end but I feel like I really need to try this Skin1004 cleanser. My skin just seems to love their products a lot from what I've tried so far.
Ooh I am with you exactly on the cleansing oils - I was over them and only balms, had a sample of another brand and thought 🤔 I should give cleansing oils another go. I’ll def try Skin 1004 as they make one of my all time fave sunscreens! 💜
I love the 1004 Centella Asiatica serum, it’s really good. I’ll have to try the cleansing oil. I started using a cleansing oil years ago (Shu Uemura) and loved it because it rinses so cleanly. However, it smells very much of chemicals. It may just be the smell of the ingredients, and I wouldn’t want it to have added fragrance, but it’s something like light diesel. I switched to cleansing balms which I really do like but they’re harder to rinse off. Thanks for the suggestions!
I’m looking for something to put on my face while in the bath, any suggestions? Sometimes I like to treat myself to a really long relaxing bath and I’m thinking that I want to add some more self care to that moment. Usually I shower afterwards so what ever I put on my face will be rinsed off but it will be on for at least an hour. To be honest it’s more about the experience over all than what to products does. So maybe a hydrating sheet mask or eye patches?
I started using that same centella oil like 6 months ago, what a coincidence! I do still really love the Inky List Oat Cleansing Balm as well but I feel like the SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil kinda last longer (in terms of how long it takes to go through the bottle) and is just kinda easier to use.
You make me wanna buy them all 😊 I have a ampoule by skin1004 with niacinamide and I love it. If you wanna try another cleansing oil , Patyka is great!
As soon as i saw you'd dropped a k beauty video - i stopped rewatching Elementary and clicked 😆 Popped a lot of your recommendations in my wishlist for when my other products run out. I have a small request - started using the Pyongyang Yul ATO cream blue label, and it's become my HG. I have oily skin and live in a hot wirh high humidity environment, so my routine has been very much trial and error. A little goes a long way, and so nourishing but simple with it's ingredients. Their toner is lovely - not aggravating but no WOW factor either. I haven't seen much on the Pyongyang Yul brand, and would be very interested on your opinion 😊
I am using the cleansing oil and cleanser you mentioned right now, and I am loving them both! I totally agree that a little bit of the Round Lab cleanser goes a long way 😂
@@SOYMANNÈ I know a lot about skincare, so I'm good,i just love getting new things to try. I always do a lot of research and get excited by different formulations
I loved the mixsoon essence bean, my skin literally glow and is really flawless and poreless, but sadly as I continued to used it I noticed this weird dry, flaky red rash almost like eczema around my mouth and under my eyes. I stopped using it then and it went away, if not, it would been such a holy grail for me.
man.. i thought you're gonna review the dokdo toner too, since from what i heard, the dokdo line is the brand's bestseller. best part is that the toner has a big size version that can last you many months!
Hey James, can you cover Reedle shots? I have been hearing about this product lately, and I have questions. Does it the product really work? Where can I find the true product online to ship to the US. I hope you're having a wonderful day! Thank you for all you do on here. I appreciate you! 😊
I'm so pleased that I finally have 2 of the things that you are talking about! The lip mask, love it and also the bean oil (?). Haven't used it yet, but I will tonight. 💜🥳💜
I love this recommendations list , and that it contains some of my holy grail never fail products. I’ve been using the belief moisturizer as my go to for almost a decade haha
Hi! Love half of the products that you reviewed already! Thank you for your recommendation! By the way, have you tried any products from Bliv:U? Maybe I simply missed you talking about them, but I'd like to know your opinion on their masks and toner pads. Have a great day! ❤
James!! Have you tried the 2 brand new Belief formulations? There is one that's a gel with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid and a cream with peptides and ceramides. I know you are using the older gel version in your video I believe. Or am I incorrect and you ARE using the new gel version?!
Love this video James! Do you think the centella cleansing oil would be good even though I wear a lot of makeup? I also hate heavy oils but sometimes that’s the only thing that takes off my makeup, would be interested in trying this !
If you wear a lot of make up, you should try double cleansing (DC). Start with a cleansing balm or an oil based cleanser following with some type of foamy cleanser.
Definitely 👍🏼 double cleanse as djlelenablv said with the skin1004 cleansing oil, then the round lab foam cleanser for the 2nd cleanse. I popped both of these on my wishlist after the video 😄 Been on the hunt for a cleansing oil that removes my spf but not too heavy, and I hope this one is my HG 😫
My first and only oil cleanser is from Haruharu Wonder. All oils creep into my eyes and create a milky layer that i need to remove by applying eye drops. Thats also a reason that i cannot use waterproof mascara since it would be removed with an oil or bi-phase product. I love K-beauty but will pass on the oil cleansing 😢
Thank you for talking about alcohol as a carrier ingredient. I believed another well known skin content creator hat would talk about alcohol being in the first five ingredients as a drying alcohol. Then I found Lab Muffin, and as a beauty chemist explaining there’s various alcohols that do different things besides being labeled as a drying ingredient.
I like how things that are going viral now are things you talked about years ago. 😂 you're the OG skin guru & the only one I listen to.

Could you consider making a video solely on Belif products? I absolutely am in love with them. So it would be lovely to hear your take. 🙃
@@lilncheese588 Amazon has the Heimish in stock! 🎈Thanks for another rec!
Shut out to James for telling us the names of the ingredients even though they are really hard to read😂🎉
Have you tried the VT Reedle Shot essence?
You make me wanna buy them all 😊 I have a ampoule by skin1004 with niacinamide and I love it. If you wanna try another cleansing oil , Patyka is great!
As soon as i saw you'd dropped a k beauty video - i stopped rewatching Elementary and clicked 😆
Popped a lot of your recommendations in my wishlist for when my other products run out.
I totally agree that a little bit of the Round Lab cleanser goes a long way 😂
Use those cleansing oil fast bcz it turn to musty scent quickly
I purchased the Prequel cleanser per your recommendation and love it!
It seems like such a good value and good quality product, I need to pick it up once I run out of more cleanser ! Thank for sharing. ❤
Oh nooo I just got lot of new k beauty stuff, I can't afford more but I'm so intrigued by some of these recommendations. James you little devil! X
As long as you use the active ingredients in your products you will be ok most brands just sell the name.
@@SOYMANNÈ I know a lot about skincare, so I'm good,i just love getting new things to try. I always do a lot of research and get excited by different formulations
Thank you, James ....more to buy !!!!!! Love the look of the cleansing oil !
f the cleansing oil
I loved the mixsoon essence bean, my skin literally glow and is really flawless and poreless, but sadly as I continued to used it I noticed this weird dry, flaky red rash almost like eczema around my mouth and under my eyes. I stopped using it then and it went away, if not, it would been such a holy grail for me.
man.. i thought you're gonna review the dokdo toner too, since from what i heard, the dokdo line is the brand's bestseller. best part is that the toner has a big size version that can last you many months!
I didn't know propolis went away lol, Iv stayed using it.
I would love to try K beauty one day! Thanks for your review you make everything sound amazing x
James!! Have you tried the 2 brand new Belief formulations? There is one that's a gel with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid and a cream with peptides and ceramides.
I know you are using the older gel version in your video I believe. Or am I incorrect and you ARE using the new gel version?!
I am begging you. Please tell me your recommended SKII dupe. ♡ please please please and thank you
Can you review mediheal Tea tree Biome line please. I feel the cleanser is underrated and it's a wonderful cleanser
I popped both of these on my wishlist after the video 😄
Been on the hunt for a cleansing oil that removes my spf but not too heavy, and I hope this one is my HG 😫
Can you do videos on the VT Reedle Shot?
Love the attempt and vocalising that ingredient lol
Funny because it’s the opposite for me! I feel smothered by cleansing balms and it feels so gross! I prefer the oil!
Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I know from the plant world that lady’s mantle is Alchemilla, if that helps!
Now I need to try everything I'm not already using!
I wanna buy that first cleanser just for the packaging 😍😂 seen nothing like that!
I'll be trying them soon!
The body shop has an entire line dedicated to edelweiss, which contains leontopodium acid
Can you review the madecassoside line by mediheal? They have an ampoule, new sheet mask, and pads 🎉❤
Yepoda is a pretty awesome brand too. If you can get your hands on it, please check it out
Can you review VT reedle 100?
There are so many centella products these days and they seem good but i might be allergic🥲im scared of trying out another one
please review real barrier brand, it's great brands but it so underrated 😥😥
Grazie James!😘😘😘❤🧡💛💚💙💜⭐
Would love to see your opinion of the viral Qure microneedling system.
The Heimish Marine Care Eye Cream is heavily scented. Can’t get past it. 😢
Will I be putting all of these in my cart when I just wanted three things..yes yes I will
Jaaaames!! Please please pleaaaase could you try the vt cicareedels? I need to know if it is worth it and I only trust you 🙏🙏🙏💜💜💜
