"If we waited around for a prophecy to make us special, We'd die waiting"
Recently, I had a newfound appreciation for modern animated series. Gravity falls, Amphibia, being on the top parts of my list, and then there is a show that hit me with such magnitude I fell in love with it to the highest degree. That show being "The Owl House" The series is highly praised for its writing, animation, and representation. Evident in its strong relevance today.
Chapters:
00:00 Overture
00:44 Opening Theme
02:03 Emperor Belos Theme
03:05 Golden Guard VS. Kikimora
04:00 Enchanting Grom Fright
04:50 Amity VS. Hunter
06:00 Eda's Requiem / Raine's Rhapsody
08:08 Sneaking into People's Hearts
09:43 Ending Theme
11:38 Finale
14:13 Credits
[ SPOILERS ]
Prologue Overture:
The overture begins in a way that I used to do compositions back in the day, a sudden and explosive grand opening of the entire orchestra, synths, and a large choir. Ending with a motif from the main theme. It then transitions with dark ominous chanting.
Act 1 - Opening Theme:
Drums and synths are performed which signals a roaring entrance of brass, strings, and choir. This is followed by a drum solo with a glockenspiel prelude. The Orchestra roars once more and the main theme is played in full force. Brass sections then take over, then a large choir. This part ends with an explosive staccato of trumpets and chants.
Act 2 - Emperor Belos Theme:
This theme emulates the traits of the show's antagonist, Mysterious, Cunning, and Ruthless. This is an orchestra that plays with an organ with dark undertones everywhere.
Act 3 - Golden Guard VS. Kikimora
An intense theme that is not talked about by a lot of fans. I decided to go for a similar approach to the original with big drums, fast strings, and gritty brass, All while adding a little more to it.
Act 4 - Enchanting Grom Fright
The piece took a while to complete due to its complex nature. It's heavily rhythmic with influence from waltz music. I went with high strings and brass for the bass. For the latter parts of this piece, The Owl House's opening theme can be heard in a dramatic fashion. It ends with a mellow motif of the ending theme.
Act 5 - Amity VS. Hunter
Utilized in this part is something I never attempted before. I wanted to use "Big Band Brass" the same ones used in Jazz music. The end result was a rhythmically intense, movement-filled vibe with all the shakey trumpets.
Act 6 - Eda's Requiem / Raine's Rhapsody
The two lead instruments I used are a Cello and a Guzheng, The piece itself is a fusion of western and eastern influences. Faster rhythmically at first but slows down while concluding with a trailer-style ending.
Act 7 - Sneaking into People's Hearts (My personal Favourite)
I went more mellow rather than loud for this one as it is very special. It begins with some subtle strings and pads eventually leading to a piano with strings. I wanted to give this a melancholy vibe but done naturally, with the part sounding more light in theme as it progresses (Much like Luz's and Amity's relationship in the show ♥)
Act 8 - Ending Theme
The piece begins with a grand opening. The chords are played in a way that I like to use often, a rundown of the bass note. This is followed by an upbeat melody and drums. Breaks into brass for one moment and the key changes to sound more inspiring. This too gets a trailer-style finish with big drums and trumpets.
Finale - Trilogy
"A symphony must be like the world. It must contain everything." - Gustav Mahler
I always remember this as I make the finale, an ending to the grand trilogy. It starts off with intense drums and rock guitars. Brass play the main theme with a Jet engine revving up. Eda's requiem is played by a gritty synth and then the main theme is played by the orchestra and an electric guitar. It's not done! We hear Grom one more time before the choir comes in and ends the theme.
The final segment is a beautiful, grand, melancholy, rendition of the ending theme, merged with the Gravity falls theme and Anne''s theme from Amphibia as one Final salute.

TOH is one of the best series of the last few years, alongside Amphibia. It’s a damn shame some old Disney executives decided to cut it short.
Those Disney "executives" will now be known as one of "Nature's Mistakes" 🤣
I am usually not that kind of person, but it does make you wonder:
Amphibia and TOH are very similar in style. What is the only thing that really seperates them?
A gay protagonist.
@@Mediados While this is an easy thing to point to, they are also seperated by time. Amphibia was far further along in it's production when the cuts were being made at disney, which changes the cost/risk analysis. I think Disney made the wrong choice and should have waited for a disney + release of TOH before making the cuts but even the creator points out they don't think it was due to the gay protagonist. Remember, don't atribute to malice what can be atributed to incompetence.
@@Max-lt5et I don't think they are malicious, but many, MANY people interpret gay inclusion as oversexualisation, especially older people. I can understand it to some degree because it can easily be confused with shipping. Shipping IS a problem these days, you literally cannot show 2 characters of the same gender have an emotional talk anymore without 50 people sexualizing them.
@@Mediados yes you are rigth that many people wrongfully see lgbtq inclusion as sexualisation, and people who are fine with straight romance in a kids cartoon will flip their shit if it is a gay romance. But as an ally to the lgbtq comunity I feel its crucial not to insinuate homofobia in a case where it likely did not happen, since it devalues cases where it does happen. Especially since the people on the otherside are so reactionary.
That one trumpeteers lungs during Amity vs Hunter: "My time has come."
To anyone wondering, the morse code at the end translates to "don’t trust them".
Who? Disney?

Whoa
Say you showed this to Dana. SAY YOU SHOWED THIS TO DANA!!!
Ok... so... I hate when shows end. The music kills me... And this sounds like how the actual finale would sound and it makes me tear up a little... I don't want Owl House to end.
Me2 T_T
Me neither, but I think that I’d rather the show end while amazing than watch it slowly get worse over 10 more seasons.
I agree with you on this, I was so sad when gravity falls ended and cried a little and just thinking about when this ends... it makes me cry more.
@@BentDumbNeko :3
While I understand, I honest think that good shows are ones that understand where they should end and don't go on for too long. I think that three seasons of Owl House would've been great but sadly we only have 3 more episodes.
Looks like I'm not the only one who feels like there's a connection between Gravity Falls, Amphibia and The Owl House.
Just a man once said about his former wife...
"My ex wife still misses me......BUT HER AIM IS GETTING BETTER!"
Have you seen the book Marcy found in the Season 2 finale? It shows a total of 6 interconnected worlds, Amphibia and Earth being 2 of them. If at least the Boiling Isles are not one of them my name is Garry.
Both Amphibia and The Owl House (along with many other shows) reference Gravity falls quite a bit. Also, the shows are linked thematically through Mable, Marcy, and Luz's escapism and their journey of finding the consequences of attempting to escape from reality.
The Owl House also has a direct reference to Amphibia - one of Hunter's stuffed animals is a Sprig plushie.
@@quizky_ Can you imagine how hilarious it would be if TOH got cancelled and the 3 authors of Amphibia, TOH and Gravity Falls reveal they have been working in the same world all along?
11:21 love that little bit of Amphibia's end credit theme and then the small hint of Gravity Falls' theme at the start of Finale
I realize that there are three symbols in the beginning. From Gravity Falls, Amphibia, and the Owl House. We just got through all of them and let me just say these series are my comfort shows and it is nice to be able to listen to the magnificent orchestral versions for all of them.
Watching this after the finale hits different. I miss you already Owl house 🥹
Holy crap Enchanting Grom Fright was amazing, so was Eda’s Requiem/Raine’s Rhapsody, and the Ending theme. Finale sounds like boss fight music, and is a perfect combination of all of these songs.
Thank you! 😁
The long awaited sequel to the Amphibia orchestral
Man both of these are banger shows with banger soundtracks, can’t wait to hear this masterpiece
Gravity Falls and Amphibia composers are the one who worked on this show this is why The Owl House is really good for a finale.
And this lady's and gentlemen, is why the owl house is my favorite show.
I wish it was longer comrade.
@@americancommunist6076 don't worry. I'm sure the show will get fully finished
@@elainedodd341 I really do, it has incredible amounts of potential
I didn't notice there was that much songs. Looks like only Belos actually has a theme.
7:42 Nier (Automata) sounding
11:16 Anne's theme from Amphibia!
16:06 morse code?
Strange no one pointed out the AoT reference at the very beginning
Hunter has a theme
11:29 gravity falls
OMG, This guy does this orchestral covers by himself and they are just becoming better!!
This things deserves support people, They are AMAZING!! 👏 ❤
I am truly honoured that you like my work! Thank you so much! 😁
With how fast the frame rate is Hunter and Amity’s fight is, the beginning shot when you get to their song is awesome
I like how each song in the trilogy got longer. The first is around 5 minutes, the second 9 minutes, and this one 16 minutes long. (These are all including the credits)
And the fact that Karu was able to make this 16 minutes long and still be fun and interesting for the whole time is incredible.
*I really like how Emperor Belos' theme sounds like Mozart's requiem ( not Eda's ) you just had to hide the Dies Irae somewhere. But this is already perfect.*
You really hear the Dies Irae everywhere when you start looking for it
which Dies Irae tho, Mozart or Medieval one
@@k_catboy, I meant the medieval Dies Irae that is now a death motif, the first 4 notes of the gregorian chant.
Imagine how cool it would be to be part of the team that makes these…
I actually wish I had a team 😅
Wait. So you make all these all by yourself!?
@@cloudimations1579 Yep! I do have some composer friends and ask for suggestions sometimes, but at least 98% of the process is just done by me, which can be tiring at times 😅
@ You deserve all the love you get. You’re work is so impressive.
@@cloudimations1579 Thank you so much! I'm truly honoured! 😁🎼✨
Eda's Requiem / Raine's Rhapsody is just very beautiful. This truly is a masterpiece!
This is AWSOME! Disney should hire you to make music
They fire him because "his music doesn't match his brand"
Every time I hear Eda's Require a tear comes to my eye. This was no acception!
This entire video is a beautiful and powerful orchestra to one of the best animated series of all time. Thank you so much, Karu!
Thank you! I really appreciate it! 😁🎼
As a music lover, this is a real musical journey. I always thought of a TOH medley and it looks like you've done it. It's a magical ride from beginning to end and I'm literally exhausted from the excitement of listening to the whole piece and don't even get me started with that choir. Brilliant! You've also made the right choice of the "Big Band Brass" with the theme of "Amity VS. Hunter", SO F****** EPIC! And the ending theme. God damn, that is majestic! The end credits gave me vibes of Alan Menken's "Someday" from Hunchback, that's why it's so beautiful and I praise it. You really outdid yourself in arranging this piece, I wish I could say more about this, except, you sir, are a genius.
Thank you so much! I am honoured! 😁
@ With pleasure!
8:08 "sneaking into people's hearts". It's just perfect, my god it really embraces the love and beauty of the scene , it's a little roller-coaster of emotions, thank you for thisss
YOOO WTF THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!
Dana terrace HAS to hear this!!!
I just didn't cry too much, because I had my sister by my side, but this is a true masterpiece! And you have left a great expectation for what Disney can do with the end of the series, and if in the future they plan to release an album of orchestrations of this series.
My deepest respect and applause for your work.
Thank you! I am honoured! 😁
Why makes having your sister beside you crying less?
Coming back to this after watching and dreaming is so melancholy
I heard your gravity falls cover and I lived it, I heard your amphibia ine and I swear I cried. NOW YOU ARE MAKING A THE OWL HOUSE COVER AND IT IS MY FAVORITE SERIES SO I'M OVERHYPED AHH
this hits harder now that the owl house is over
Cant wait for this you killed it with the Amphibia one!
I heard a little hint of _Amphibia_ at the very end of "Ending Theme".
EDA'S REQUIEM / RAINE'S RAPSODIE GAVE ME GOOSEBUMPS i really love this song and this version its just- beautiful, i have no words i cant explain how much beautiful this melody is and i wont never shut up about how unique is

And why i hear boss music
Dude I have so many goosebumps listening to this!! I thought The Owl House's music couldn't be better, but you did it.
Your work is incredible, thank you to give to the community this masterpiece.
Thank you! 🦉✨
this was FANTASTIC.
i especially love the tiny bit of Amphibia Credits/Anne's Theme and Gravity Falls Opening at @11:20
I- I do not have words for how good your music is. I'm offended on your behalf at how few views you get.
I legitimately cried listening to this, I've come to adore this show over the last few months and this scratched an itch I didnt even know I had, but dear God did it do the trick.
I eagerly await your next work, and I'll listen to the other parts of the trilogy once I finish those shows. Keep doing what you're doing, it's beautiful.
Thank you so much! I am honoured! 😁
I can relate, this song fills the gravity falls shaped hole in my heart
If they ever make a owl house movie, YOU NEED TO BE THE COMPOSER!!!! NO QUESTION!!!
The subtle amphibia and gravity falls tunes just remind me of how this masterpiece of a show is the perfect combination of both
I’m Just Completely Blown Away By The Talent! These Are Soooooo Amazing! Awesome Job!
Thank you! Cheers! ✨😁
I'm speechless this is truly a masterpiece!
Thanks! 😁
That little bit of synth-y 16th notes that start the Guard vs. Kikimora section is GORGEOUS, it scratches just the right itch in my brain honestly
My guy, I don't how you do it, but this is without a doubt *incredible*.
Good job, kudos, like, I'd give you every way I know to show just how much I enjoyed listening to this, the chills it gave and the tears it made.
Thank you for doing this for us.
Edit: God, impacts even harder after S2 ended
Thank you! I appreciate it! 😁
YASSSS BEEN WAITING FOR THIS,HYPE WHEN IT COMES OUT
this song right here is gonna be good shit
I feel like listening to these three covers has been an actual journey. It all started with a dive into the mysteries of the unknown, then came to the adventure itself, and now we're here, listening to concluding piece, wishing we could relisten to it all for the first time all over again. Splendid work, great choice of the three shows, and cannot wait to see what the next project will be. Keep aiming for the stars Kāru, and never stop - as there's no doubt in my mind that if you could pull this off, anything is possible in the near future!
I really appreciate all your support, I am very honoured! Thank you so much! 🏕🐸🦉💛🎼

Everything about this was great and has more than earned a subscribe. Keep doing great work cause I can't wait for more.

Wow, Dana should listen to this one and respond the same way Matt responds to the Epic Orchestral Theme of Amphibia!
P.S.: I was hoping for the Epic Orchestral Theme for Phineas and Ferb in the future. 😉

The part of Eda’s Requiem... My God, it was so f*cking beautiful
I love the Golden Guard v. Kikimora theme, it’s so underrated
Anne's theme appearing in an Owl House medley, while fitting given the themes it's meant to portray, is still incredibly funny to me.
Great work! In case you haven't heard it enough lol
I must admit that your Gravity Falls cover inspired me to do an epic version of it myself, and now with your Amphibia and Owl House medleys I'm just brimming with inspiration. This was honestly amazing! I enjoyed it a lot, thank you! 😁
Thank you SWJones! I'm really honoured! I look forward to what you manifest next! 😁

I listen to this really often, it's really good. It still captures the original feel of the music and adds so much. I really enjoy this music, TOW is definitely one of the most underrated in terms of music and storytelling. And characters, all of them are likable and do what they need to perfectly none feel forced. Truly a masterpiece cut too short.

I'm really looking forward to this release, I know it's going to be awesome. Fourteen minutes in length... this one is going to be massive! Can't wait! 😁
Thank you so much! See you at the premiere! 😁
The characters may get forgotten, the story might be forgotten. But music, music stays and will be the first thing you remember when looking back!
The final theme would fit so well in a scene where eda gains her magic back and everyone is playing the collectors game and wins
Amphibia came up in my recomended and I'm like "Oh, wonder if they done TOH", click on ya channel and it's coming out TODAY...
God the piano portion of "Sneaking into People's Hearts" makes me melt and just want to happy cry. Lumity (and Luz in particular) are so precious to me, I love them so much, and your cover just brings this extra layer of gentleness and sweetness to that moment. This whole thing is amazing but that piece in particular makes my heart soar. I just wish there was more to it/it lasted longer. Outstanding.
LETS GOOOOOO. I HAVEN'T EVEN HEARD IT YET BUT I ALREADY HAVE IT SAVED IN MY PLAYLIST!
SAMEEE
Im currently crying from one of the soundtracks you did- I have never been able to feel that way about music and THANK YOU FOR THIS
I recently finished Watching and Dreaming and wow that was a fun ride. Initially I wasn’t 100% sold in this series back in 2019, but damn I was glad that I’m hooked with it until the end. Could have been better if Disney never interfered but I still love my experience with this show. This shall forever stay in my heart along with my favorite character from said show.
You know it’s strange I can really tell you put in a lot of your passion into this. Dunno something about the music and the way it’s composed. Keep all the awesome stuff coming Karu!!💛💙
Thank you so much! 😁
I couldn't help but tear up a little when I heard the Outro music, this is a masterpiece and justice you have served, well done mate. Looking forward to see more of your epic composition.
God, I can just imagine this playing at the very last episode when everyone has found the perfect conclusion to the story. I’m so excited to see what the story has in store.
I'm here after the end of The Owl House... and I'm going to continue with the marathon of tears... I can barely process everything that this day brought...
I did a whole Antarctic expedition just to commemorate the Owl house I just wanted to thank Dana Terrace and her crew for creating such a fantastic show that will always remain in my heart and I bet many other weirdos will always stick together. 😄
The way you perfectly capture Luz and Amity's relationship in Sneaking Into People's Hearts makes me smile every time with the beauty and simplicity of it all. You really understand the emotions within the show and makes a fan like me appreciate it even more. You're super talented and I really enjoy your work! :)
Going from Grom Fright right into the Hunter fight was an overload of awesome.
"Well... that got dark quicly" is what I thought at the beginning XDXD very good work (again)
It’s beautiful. I’ve been listening to this on repeat for 8 hours now

Holy crap, this is all such phenomenal work! The astonishment really hit with Eda's Requiem/Raine's Rhapsody, the emotion towards the end was gorgeous. And Sneaking Into People's Hearts sounded like pure intrigue and care, it was so lovely!
Don't get me started on the Ending Theme, that was absolutely astounding, The Finale sounded so cool and action packed; pure shivers towards the ending! There's not much to say beside its extreme wonderfulness, except for that final part that just got me. Congratulations, you made a grown man listening to music cry.

The tolling church bells in the beginning and end of Belos' section do so much to tie it in with his creepy quasi-religious aesthetic. This entire medley is to die for.
