Thanks, James, for another well-done review of the latest 4K UHD movies coming! Anything with actress Barbara Steele in it deserves to be on 4K UHD. Love her and her horror movies. I do have to add that she was in one of Vincent Price's best horror movies The Pit and the Pendulum.
Definitely upgrading Southern Comfort! Mom's photography professor was in that movie, he drove the pickup that picked up Carradine and Boothe. I have a framed picture he signed with the actors in the pirogue's. Great flick from home.
Southern Comfort and Existenz are two hidden gems, so cool they are finally getting a proper transfer. I also saw Existenz in the theater because I am a big fan of David Cronenberg AND Jennifer Jason Leigh. While we were exiting the movie I noticed a scruffy looking man who was holding something that looked like a bunch of twigs wrapped together to look like a gun. Super weird!
I'm just SOOOO SUPER glad to finally have a proper release of The Prophecy in my lifetime... the original is one of my top ten titles of all time! Absolutely love it! And speaking of Miramax movies/series getting proper 4K releases, I would love to have the first few movies from The Crow series get a treatment like this... I could care less about the fourth installment though. I too second the Mimic series getting a 4K treatment as well. 👍
I got mine yesterday. All in all I'm pretty happy with it, but I will point out that there's some pretty heavy noise in some of the scenes in the first film. It mostly looks great, but be prepared for some WTH moments with scenes with a lot of white, notably the morgue scenes. I saw lots of big silvery splotches in the background between characters, that seems to almost shimmer in the air like a swarm of silvery insects, ha ha. But otherwise, it's good. The outside scenes especially look very sharp.

I picked up existenz and southern comfort. Southern Comfort was on HBO day and night during the 80s . I’ve seen it many times and I’m glad VS is giving it lots of love .
I think they should do a From Dusk Till Dawn 4K trilogy set as well, that was Miramax. Also, I'd like to see all the Miramax Children of the Corn sequels in a 4K set like this too.
Daryl was really good great interviews with the director and producer and people who made it ,my one big problem is no interview with any cast from the movie most are still living I think,so kind of disappointing no interviews with the cast

Hi James, always loved D. A. R. Y. L got the box set last year. I noticed you didn't mention the region coding on the blu ray disc, it's actually REGION A LOCKED so unable to play it on my UK region B Panasonic 820, not even with the stop/top menu method. Cheers. Gary.
Purchased the 4K Limited Edition version of "D.A.R.Y.L." directly from Vinegar Syndrome several weeks back, and it is so great to finally be able to replace my aging DVD copy! Definitely an underrated movie from the 80's. Years ago I purchased the limited edition score of the movie from La-La Land Records, and now I have one of my favorite childhood movies in 4K! Some other underrated 80's movies that would be nice to have in 4K: "Explorers", "The Adventures in Babysitting", "The Last Unicorn", "Young Sherlock Holmes", "My Science Project", "The Secret of Nimh", "Big Trouble in Little China", "G.I. Joe: The Movie", "SpaceCamp", "The Black Hole", and "The Black Cauldron", for starters! ;)
