The reversion to that methodology was unforeseen, as it weakens panel integrity. My Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has proven remarkably resilient to reported damage. Nevertheless, the curved screen design, combined with the high cost, has become outdated and economically unsustainable should a return to curved screens be implemented.
I understand the idea that it's incredibly difficult and impressive to make such a presumably great phone thin with all the components but feels strange when I would imagine a lot of people would take a thicker phone for more battery life
I don't think they can put an 8 Elite there without it heating up while doing demanding tasks. It's just passive cooling on a very thin chassis. Maybe they're going to use Liquid Metal and a very big vapor chamber? Doesn't seem like it. Also, they have to use Silicon-Carbon batteries there for a decent capacity on a small space, right?
Carrying the good old Anandtech spirit of Apple revisionism, I see. A bit sad, that you have to twist everything to be about Apple. Here's the important fact: Samsung is the phone and component manufacturer, innovator, making these phones possible. Apple is a customer. That is it. Apple can _only_ sell what they can buy. Which is why Apple didn't get OLED for a decade. Which is why they still don't have a foldable to this date.
Do you think Apple hasn't done a foldable because the tech isn't available to them or that they're waiting for a good use case. The market share for foldables is 1.5% after several years of releases. I hear they might do a foldable iPad first but you're right they would likely have to get it from Samsung
@@markspoonauer5360 If you're naive, you can definitely take comfort in the fantasy that Apple isn't adopting cutting edge technology because they don't want to. Even though that self-comforting lie gets debunked over and over, latest with their rushed launch of AI. Apple isn't selling foldables because they're a customer to Samsung. Samsung isn't selling foldable glass to Apple. That is the simple and unfiltered reality.
@@TheRealDuckofDeath you forgot the part about no one buying foldable phones. why make something if no one is buying them? even if you did have access to the panels?
@@markspoonauer5360 You have got to stop living in your bubble. If no one buys them, why are all brands with access to folding glass spamming expensive models? Why is no one selling budget models to boost sales? Meanwhile, Apple keeps selling cheaper and cheaper iPhone SE models. Why is that? I mean, basic market economy says, you raise the price if your sales are great. Sent from my Z Flip5.
@@TheRealDuckofDeath I think you raise the price if you're trying to squeeze out more profit margins. And both Apple and Samsung do that. Motorola is selling budget models of foldables and it's pretty good
it's very weird that they cut it out. but we got footage up close at least. It's almost like they don't want to promote it too much while S25 pre-orders are happening 😉
@markspoonauer5360 that makes sense, but it would have made more sense not to even mention the device. It's like when the Osborne 2 does announced right after the Osborne one went on sale and people stopped buying it because they wanted to wait for the better device. Why even announce the s25 edge if you want people to buy the s25 ultra? 😭
Was this the most exciting device teased at Galaxy Unpacked 2025? 📱
Honestly nothing 😞

Who else saw the name and got excited thinking it was an S25 with a curved screen?
If this is Samsung's idea of inovation, they've lost their minds.

I'm definitely interested, but I would be really excited if the screen wasn't so large. A premium thin phone at 6 inches would fly off the shelves.

Why didn't they show it to us?
ikr... they even bumped it from the live stream replay

@TomsGuideUS I'm going through and watching videos now. I was watching the live stream when it just ended and I was like.... that was weird as hell!

@@TheUnknownSpiderMan exactly! it's confusing to early adopters for sure
What's the point of this? Phones aren't even that thick anymore it's only the camera bump.
Stealing Apple's thunder before they actually get their releases out 😂
Better name would have been S25 Thin
Slim was the rumored name...
I know everyone was wrong 🤣
Why? Why! Why?! Why... Why??? Why!! Why. WHYYYYWHEYRURGEGU4
I... Im tired.
