Soloing Patchwerk 25-man version was something I had been meaning to do for a while. The main reason I did not attempt it sooner was because of all the trash leading up to him. I had no idea how to handle trash re-spawning or if any of my ideas would even work. I spent a great deal of time thinking about how I would handle every aspect of the fight but I had to resolve numerous issues during the thought process and had to overcome various things which I thought would make the fight impossible. Eventually, I came up with 2 and in most cases 3 ways of handling every problem Patchwerk could throw at me. However, I also came into this fight with a technique I figured out elsewhere, a Shadowstep technique I dub Jiderstep. This technique involves an Unconscious Dig Rat (www.wowhead.com...) which is considered a critter and it is just like any other rat/critter in game except for the fact you can drop it where you like and it stays put and lasts until it is killed or the server is restarted. You can shadowstep to it just like any other critter. Due to the significant increase in his health pool I tested my methods successfully on live servers in 10-man before moving on to kill it on 25-man live server.
The fight takes places in two positions, one in the tunnel past Grobbulus, the other on the floor along Patchwerk's patrol path. The setup begins by Shadowstepping to Grobbulus on the platform he tosses his slimes from. I then go into the poison tunnel that leads to Gluth to drop an Unconscious Dig Rat at a key location inside the tunnel where there is a hole that leads back to Patchwerk's room. This position and the floor position are important as they are beyond the leash points for Grobbulus and they allow me to Shadowstep up and drop down whenever I need to. Once the Unconscious Dig Rat is in the right position I jump down and buff and get ready to pull Patchwerk. I execute the pull by pre-potting and launching a Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket (www.wowhead.com.... The use of a ranged attack to pull is important as it will require him to path all the way to that point to reset/full heal after a Vanish or Shadowmeld.
After that, the fight basically becomes a repetition involving a few key ideas. Firstly, I never engage Patchwerk without Evasion. Anytime I am attacking and Evasion is about to wear off, I either Shadowstep up to the tunnel or drop down to the floor. This forces him to spend a great deal of time pathing which enables me to wait for the Evasion cooldown and to heal myself. Another key point is using Vanish and Shadowmeld appropriately. On the initial aggro of Patchwerk, his trash is also put into combat which requires me to Vanish it off but I also use it during the fight to reset his enrage timer which eliminates the need to deal with the increased damage and slime bolts. To do this, I wait for Preparation to come back up, and then I wait until Patchwerk reaches the poison tunnel position. I jump off and immediately Shadowmeld which gets me out of combat and gives me time to eat and/or rebuff as needed. My potion timer also resets. Since I am no longer in combat Patchwerk is in evade mode and begins his pathing back from the tunnel through Grobbulus' room. This is where the pull positioning comes in to play as I am already waiting to intercept him well before his final reset point which would heal him to full. When I engage him his trash aggros again which forces me to Vanish. I watch carefully and if that Vanish fails to reset the trash I burn Preparation and Vanish again. This cycle is repeated until the boss is dead which resulted in a fight lasting 4 hours 45 minutes on my kill.
Buffs: Drums of Forgotten Kings, Drums of the Wild, Runescroll of Fortitude, Scroll of Agility VIII, Flask of Endless Rage, Blackened Dragonfin. Jewel-crafting and Engineering professions. Gear used can be viewed at www.wowarmory.c.... Both weapons are enchanted with mongoose and Instant poison main-hand and Deadly poison off-hand. The reason behind using Purified Shard of the Flame (www.wowhead.com...) was to counter the significant nature damage from the tunnel (ticks added up to ~2 million damage) and provide extra healing. Other methods of healing included eating, bandages, and Dense Stone Statues (www.wowhead.com.... The talent spec used was 0/18/53 and glyphs were Hemo/evasion/ghostly strike www.wowhead.com... .

god i miss this dude, he was such a boss rogue in my server until cata launched, it was fun playing the game just by seeing jider there, it's weird that everybody seemed to like him without being jealous or anything, everybody wanted a piece of his guild impervious, even i myself wanted to raid with them, the whole game became shit as soon as his guild disbanded... kinda felt empty and was discouraged to get geared to get qualified to join their guild, even though i used to have most of my gear heroic 25 man icc geared.

@JsRf13 Wrong. This is covered in the video description as well, but here you go:
Shadowmelding or Vanishing will cause the boss to *reset*. He will rapidly run back to the position he was pulled from. He will not gain any life until he reaches that reset position. He gets pulled again before he reaches that point.
Since pulling the boss also aggroes the trash, vanish always follows shadowmeld, and prep is saved in case the trash doesn't reset.

how is this exploit, blizzard made item in game that is droppable NPC, that can be shadowstepped on to, blizzard didnt know this could ever happen, so this guy outsmarted entire blizzard team by thinking this.

Its written in the description; when he vanishes Patch goes into evade mode and runs back to his original spot to reset health, before he reaches the spot the Rogue picks him up again. This resets the enrage timer.

This clever use of mechanics and solo on patchwerk is 100% real. You assume that this was done with mechanics that we are all fermiliar with, yet Jiders solo on this boss as well as C'thun is the reason for the blizz updates to the enrage timer and health/ encounter reset... also the reason for the add pulls for patchwerk. Just because it cant be done anymore this way doesnot mean it isnt real. Nice win Jider Great Theorycraft..
@UNCMed If you read the description, you'll see he drops combat regularly to avoid the enrage timer, and so during that time he can eat to retain the well fed buff.

That's why he used the hand mounted pyro rockets... when he reset, he'd have to go BACK to his original pull point before his health would reset. I don't fully understand it, but that was key to being able to reengage him before he reset his health.
This was a great video. This proves that many things are possible when people know their class inside out. You also gave me 2 new songs to add to my library! Congrats on the kill, I wish we had more people with your skill on the server that I play on.

@xgt1000 He doesn't teleport. He uses Shadowstep to appear at the Unconscious Dig Rat he's left behind in the tunnel. Don't forget, the rat is still concidered to be a critter, meaning that you can use Shadowstep on it.

@dauwgxx lol, his buffs are Scroll of Agility, Drums of Forgotten Kings, Drums of the Wild and Runescroll of Fortitude, that you can craft for yourself
@ne14a6t9r2 By pathing him to that point it technically pulls patchwerk out of combat and then when he paths back to the other area it counts as re-engaging him which resets the timer. Not entirely sure how to explain it, but basically he's re-engaging the mob before it returns to its default patrol area and gets auto-healed back to full hp.
@hosenzieher25 If you took the time to read the note he put in the under bar, you'd understand, learn to read before assuming. He shadowmelds to reset combat on patchwerk, thus reseting the enrage timer. He then hits him before he reset, giving him basically as much time as he wants to solo it
@Xanadug He used an item(which was hotfixed and made impossible to use right after this video) to summon a rat inside the pipe, so he targetted it and shadowstepped. You can't really see the rat there, but it is there, lol.

@Koroar Where would he need another person? This strategy is hard, almost impossible to re-do, but at the same time, it's 100% perfect with not a chance of wipe if done correctly. Another person wouldn't do much, except like DPS faster and such. He did this really, in five hours, alone. The strategy is wonderful, can't doubt it.
@MakeMeASammich Given the fact that nobody has done it before, I would say that it IS unique. Again, he didn't invent shadowstepping to a mob, he invented STRATEGICALLY PLACING A MOB TO SHADOWSTEP TO.

@watsmyname1 not only that, but at 3:20 you see him vanish enough to leave combat, yet patchverk doesnt reset... seemingly he hasnt lost so much HP it might still be OK, but at 6:00 when our friend rogue even uses vanish to sit down and eat, its clear that Patchwerk doesnt reset.

@Gamer777777 He probably has at least 50% dodge when buffed, then evasion increases his dodge by an additional 50%. In his description, he said he never engages Patchwerk unless Evasion is up.

Grats! I used to play FFXI Online and soloing a HNM for hours was considdered something pretty similar to this: epic. All those idiots flaming aren't thinking about the planing and execution of what you did. 1 Mistake and all that time is wasted!

@hund4n0kh4n Its a move that rogues have, called Evasion. It has like a 2 minute cooldown, thus one reason why he keeps shadowstepping back and forth [Other being to soft reset his enrage timer].
@trorisk Read the description, they arnt class buffs they are all buffs from consumables he had stocked up on, they just share the same icon.

@hizzouseKakashi Dedictation to the priviae server. If you notice, the rogue EATS during combat. If u engage a boss in any raid, you ALWAYS stay in combat. Even if you vanish or at other end of the instance. Simple bug exploitation on a private server. He coudl not sit downa dn eat, and have an eating buff whiel in fight, cus if he left combat, he cuodn't re-engage the boss until the bosses hp reset to full. Also, notice how the boss NEVER berserked for his 6 minute enrage timer?
@jason99uk That was no more exploiting than this is; using your spells and talents as they're designed. Only difference is you could do it a lot faster. There was no bug or glitch they were taking advantage of.
It was just a creative use of their abilities, just like shadowstepping an unconscious dig rat.

@taankfromabso well, he vanishes, and gets out of combat. that is a mechanic in wow and is working as intended. same with it reseting the enrage timer, him being able to eat, and patchwerk is not supposed to return to full health until he finishes his pat. qq moar.
@milkeza evasion the cooldown, he would teleport up to let the CD on it go away, it gives 80% dodge, so he could keep doing it over and over, and he most likely had 20% dodge already (probably 30%+) but then he had 100% chance to dodge lol.
Its cuz the fight is ' ending ' when he vanishes, but he catches patch before he full heals and reenters combat.
I truly admire this guy. He not only used almost 5 hours of his time killing Patchy, he also spent a lot of time thinking how to solo our beloved piece of meat.

@omgitslizify If you take a second look at the meter, you'll obviously see that it says damage taken, and that the second bar is yellow, the class color for rogues, therefore making it impossible for that to be the damage taken by his so-called "healer"
lt's not fake it's just a player using his classes strengths and using Patch's weaknesses against umm IT. Planing and using strategy to over come a challenge was used here. lf anything this person was one of the few who played challenge mode before blizz even announced it was gonna be put in game.

@TheMartin644 Oh I know. If you look, Mechanic wize, Patchwerk enver had his 6 minute enrage timer set off. If he left combat, he'd heal to full hp, but the rogue eats food showing he left combat, so boss shoulda evaded back to full hp as a result. This private server is fail.
@Koby19841 Not exactly. He doesn't regen his health until he returns to his patrol point and this guy would re-engage him before that happened. So he basically cheesed the rest mechanics.

With the release of 4.0, rogues are soloing a lot more due to their new healing talent. But yes, I'll agree at the time this was made, is was amazing that a rogue soloed a boss before a DK or paladin.

I once used "Clever use of game mechanics" (Slow fall + Rocket boots, not nitro boosts) to get on top of the Westfall Lumber Mill roof and start nuking shit on my ele shaman. After awhile like 20 Alli had gathered up.
After awhile a GM told me to get down before he banned me. That was in a public place, this is in a dungeon, a private place, and it's an old boss nobody cares about.
