Loved this, love the wood working as well as your family channel. This is awesome. Are you selling your rolling pins? Or where can I find any of your projects that might be for sale? So fun to watch you talented people do this wood turning! Blessings
Thank you Mary Lou! I'm meaning to get my wood items listed on our website, I need to get that done very soon. I have an inventory of craft fair items that I can list online since we're not doing craft fairs anymore. I'll get this done soon!
Enjoyed your video Sam. Wait a minute, your title is misleading, is that a pen cup or a mechanical pencil cup? What is the name is the bit or tool you used to core out the center? I have a bit of young walnut 5" diameter truck drying out, would that make a decent wood to turn? Turn it Green or Seasoned?
The 'cil' is silent in the title. 😂 For hollowing out the middle I used a forstner bit in a drill chuck designed to go into the tail piece of a lathe. They're not too expensive. Nearly any wood is a good wood to turn! 😎 A log that size, I would go ahead and turn green. It will likely check (crack) on you too much to be usable later at just 5" in diameter.

Glad you were able to save this one. Practice makes perfect!
Me too! It's not good enough that I would ever sell it or gift it, but it works fine for me in the home office. 😬
What a mesmerizing video, gorgeous wood, and lovely pen holder. Thanks so much for sharing it. Cheers, Ardith

@@Samcraftcom That would be great! Anxious to see what you have available! Love home crafted things! Thank you for your response! :-)
How it looks at 3:53 would have made a very nice flower vase... can you make wooden flower vases? 😅
Yeah, you can! Usually they will be finished with something like varnish on the inside to hold water, though. :)
Looks nice, I'm going to make one for my son who is a teacher, but does anyone use pens anymore?
Very nice 👍👍👍
Thank you!
