    I have sent this video to Gibson so that they can explain to me the nature of this tonewood.

      Well PLA is made from corn so there is some plant-based affinity 🤔🤔

    Some final thoughts on the build:
    - Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the build, I love the colour scheme and the contrast with the pick guard.
    - The process was quite fun overall, not a lot of hiccups apart from pieces that I had to reprint due to poor measurements.
    - The hardware is pretty cheap, so I didn't think it was worth mentioning.
    - The guitar has slight intonation problems, mostly due to the fact that the bridge is a few mms too close to the neck.

    This is a fantastic build! Only bit of advice I would give for anyone who does this or if you decide to build a second one is to flip your parts upside down in your slicer software so that the front has the nice smooth textured finish from the build plate (especially the pick guard) but otherwise this is awesome!

      Very true! But also this build was made on a old Anycubic Mega X so the finish is... less than desirable. The next guitar build was made with my Bambu P1P and the surface finish is much nicer

      Hi Ray. This is the kit I used: www.solomusicgear.com/product/solo-strat-style-hardware-pack-black/
      For the neck, any strat-style neck will do, so long as the scale is 25.5, but I used this: www.solomusicgear.com/product/solo-st-style-guitar-neck-maple-rosewood-fb/

    • @xavierdumont
      @xavierdumont  8 місяців тому

      Thanks! The pieces are semi-hollow, depending on where they are on the guitar. Pieces closer to the neck and bridge have more infill.
      Overall it's about as heavy as any regular guitar, maybe a tad more.

    • @xavierdumont
      @xavierdumont  Рік тому

      Thanks! I forgot to mention it in the video but I just drew it all by hand. I started with the template, then added concentric perimeters inside the template's outline. Then, divided that into smaller puzzle sections. Lastly, I added the "tabs" for each puzzle piece. After that I just tweaked the shapes a bit.

    so after a year or so how has the guitar held up?

    • @xavierdumont
      @xavierdumont  7 місяців тому

      Actually pretty good, the interlocking pieces really help with stability. With the pixel guitar, the glue had started to fail in some spots (mostly because I didn't put enough) but with this one, there are no visible gaps

    Question, can I used 22 fret fit on this design?

    • @xavierdumont
      @xavierdumont  18 днів тому

      Good question, it's hard to say exactly if it will work since the scale length has to be somewhat precise. The guitar already has intonation issues, this may or may not fix them. So, truthfully, I don't know.

    • @xavierdumont

    • @hv1461
      @hv1461 Рік тому

      @@xavierdumont Thanks. Do you like it better than just using super glue on PLA parts? Super glue holds really well but the problem is you get about half a second to place it and if you put it in the wrong spot well you’re just out of luck.

    • @xavierdumont
      @xavierdumont  Рік тому +1

      I like it more, I find it holds much better, but the set time is super quick so you have to be careful. Also it's not as liquid and doesn't spread around so much so you can be more precise with it.

      @@xavierdumont Nice. Appreciate the info. I’m going to give it a try. Your guitar project was very well done by the way. I am working toward projects of that level of complexity and am probably just a few months away from going for it. Today I designed and printed a custom luggage tag for my Sister’s Christmas present and it came out really well.
