Casey Callagher Newman is a naturalist and a textile artist. She dyes fabric using all-natural dyes and prints leaves onto fabric using only the natural pigments found within each leaf. She is inspired by living and working at Cedar Dell Forest Farm (@cedardellforestfarm), her farm in the forest on the outskirts of Portland, Oregon. Living on a farm makes her appreciate all the gifts that we receive from the land and our animals. She raises Shetland sheep for their fiber and friendly personalities, gathers leaves and natural materials to dye fabric, and grows many of her own dye plants as well as fruit and vegetables. In Natural Dyeing: Bundle Dye Fabric with Vibrant Natural Color, she shares her wealth of knowledge with Skillshare students in a fun, approachable way: skl.sh/3oFAphK
Sarah Rafferty is an artist, a nature lover, lifelong maker, and the owner of Atwater Designs, a cyanotype design studio that creates original cyanotypes, fine art prints, paper goods, textiles, and wallpaper. After teaching for 16 years in the traditional classroom, she decided to take AD full-time, sharing the beauty of this process with the world. Her exploration of nature is an ever-evolving attempt to dissect what is happening with the changing of the seasons and how they can relate to communication. In Intro to Cyanotypes: Creating Beautiful Botanical Prints with Ease, a Skillshare Staff Pick, she shares the basics method behind her cyanotypes and breaks down how you can create your own prints at home: skl.sh/3zjXQ4W
