    Great to see MW Konstantinos in the video! We're huge fans of many of the grape varieties and glad to see Porto Carras, Gerovassiliou, Sigalas, Agyrides and more get their fair shake. Well done!

    I found the comparison between the French (or regular) way of pairing wine & food vs. the Greek way extremely interesting. Would love to taste that wonderful Greek meal on 13:32!

    Here in California, being in the wine industry myself, I have come across only 2 or 3 bottles of Greek wine. And I’m someone who buy mainly imports, I hope they produce better quality wines and become more available here. As of now besides the tasty and delicious Italian and French wines with some from Spain and Portugal I have noticed a rise of white wines from Austria and even Armenian reds/whites. Hungarian whites would be another area I’d be interested in purchasing along with Austrian Zweigelt and their whites. Wine is so culturally fascinating.

    • @BoogieBubble
      @BoogieBubble Місяць тому

      Greece is producing quality wine since the beginning of time. Try buying better quality next time , expand your imports and taste a good greek wine for a change.

    • @SimoNemo7
      @SimoNemo7 Місяць тому

      @@BoogieBubble I’d love to but they don’t import wines from Greece most of the time. Domestic American wine consumers are ignoring and by and large only drink Cab, Pinot and Chard. They are not open to wines that they don’t know anything about…Barolo, Teroldego, Cahors? “What’s that” is the usual response

    Ancient Greek wine (oinos) includes Turkey also. It wasn't that liquid back then it was more solid so they were adding water in it.

    • @didemkilinc
      @didemkilinc 2 роки тому

      Makers of this channel must be thinking Turkey and wine should not be in the same sentence. In one of the videos they talk about east mediterranean wine and Turkey isn’t even mentioned. I am far from being a nationalistic person. Even though I love the content, I think this channel can do a better job by not overlooking Turkey when it comes to wine.

    • @JustFaithless
      @JustFaithless 9 місяців тому

      @didemkilinc Well asia minor as well as the black sea region of turkey was inhibited by greeks from ancient times so technically Turkey was a part of the wine making,also when did the seljuk turks came unto the region?If I am not mistaken around 1000ad so idk what are you talking about.

    • @cemalaga2145
      @cemalaga2145 9 місяців тому

      @@JustFaithless You don't need to be ethnic Turk to exist in this country and i said Turkey as a region. Why are you talking about ethnic background of people? Also there were people before Greeks.

    • @JustFaithless
      @JustFaithless 9 місяців тому

      @cemalaga2145 Yeah it was kinda a mistake to say that since you dint speak specific about ethnic Turks but still what I said proves my point that the region of turkey was making wine since ancient times.

    Great video. Interesting claim that the Greeks were the first to create a wine culture, not sure I buy that. Wine cultures will have begun to emerge as soon as people started to make wine. They may have had the first wine writers and wine servers but that is not he sum of wine culture. What about how it was consumed by different classes, its role in religions, the various methods of production or its importance in trade to name just a few aspects of the culture that would have existed in earlier civilisations? Other than that brilliant educational video 😄
