    You're a lifesaver my guy thank you! Didn't realize how clean this feature would be in Studio One

    So helpful! Thanks very much. Especially glad you showed how to get rid of the bend markers @3:27. Cheers!

      I hate seeing those bend markers after I’m don’t fixing things 😂. Glad it helped!

    I say that Qunatization has come along way and doesn't as robotic as it once did. I don't use it myself but use drum loops because it sets the tempo for me and stays consistent. I should learn to play the drums really.

      It definitely has come a long way and things are much easier. Using loops is a solid choice, many people do. I’ve been a drummer since I was young so that’s why I always play. Just keep making music and having fun!

      @@floodwaterstudios I've used 3 for a song i'm working on and getting them all in time was a nightmare. All were tweaked manually until they were in time.

    So say It was a free form I think it’s called recording, where they didn’t follow metronome. So then I set a metronome, but it changes through he song, I can still quantize to those different timings? I don’t know if my question makes sense

      I know what you’re saying. It’s possible to set a click to different tempos through the song on the tempo drop down menu. So you could theoretically map the tempo and it would quantize that way. Although, if playing “live” without a click that could make it sound weird and also lose some of the magic.

    Yes, haircut needed 😂
    Great video, will come in very handy I think.
    Our drummer hates recording to a click.
    Would it be possible to get his tracks on the grid using this method, we also have slow downs a speed ups in some of our song.
    What do you think.
    PS just subscribed.

      It’s possible, sure. It will take some work though. I have seen others “map out” a click also. Essentially, throughout the song they well make markers of different tempos so that a grid is present. Appreciate you!

    OK slightly different question. I have imported drum and bass tracks from an old stand alone recorder. I don't want it quantized I want the performance as is BUT I want to put it in the grid (so as to better control punch ins of additional instrument, effects, automation etc.
    Yes I COULD do this without regard to an actual grid. It would be MUCH harder and slower.

      You could draw out a tempo for the tune, which I’ve seen people do In a studio session I was in once, and try to match everything the best you can but it could take a while to get things right. If the tracks you have possibly the musicians were playing to a click in their headphones you could just set the tempo and then line up the front of your tracks there. It’s definitely possible.

      Top left , time stretch . Don't follow . Then you can move the bpm up or down to line up to the grid as best as

      It’s great to have multiple options. But less complicated is always more fun lol. I’m glad this helped!

    What does Quantize mean and again i feel stupid

    • @floodwaterstudios
      @floodwaterstudios  Рік тому +1

      Quantize is fixing the timing issues to make sure that things are in tempo

      Nah you’re good. If you aren’t into music production it’ll all be a lot of Greek. But I appreciate the support sir.

    don't time base quantize drums, or anything. It changes pitch and can have your eq crazy don't be lazy do edits by hands

    • @floodwaterstudios
      @floodwaterstudios  4 місяці тому

      I address this also. I use quantize to tighten up and then manually address problematic areas such as fills. Pitch can cause issues especially in overheads for sure. But I’ve noticed usually that’s only if the quantizing has gone wrong somewhere. Work smarter. Not hard. Efficiency in the studio is key.
