Great. found this sonatine extremely boring when I had to learn it as a teenager (like Clementi, for that matter), but I discover now that it really sounds beautiful - played by a real pianist of course.
I am just starting to learn this piece. I memorized page one, the first theme. I'm 64 so memorizing is a bit more difficult. Like you I've been searching for that certain something that will make me love to play it. This was definitely it! The melody is so beautiful and kind of playful.
Wow! This is amazing. My teacher wants me to learn this a year before I should be and this song really helps me get the hang of what it should sound like. Thank you very much!
My piano competition is this song. It's like 4 pages long and I'm supposed to memorize it, and play in front of the judges. I've made it this far. There's no turning back.
+Khalid Regoug oh I'm sorry I had so many things to do and many things happening yea. Anyway I played at a community college and I was the youngest person competing at my division and I won 2nd place. It was on Febuary 27th
Very fine, sensitive performance; beautifully thought out, beautifully shaped. One could scarcely ask for more in this piece. Anyone posting that the performance along with the music is dead is uttering sheer nonsense. The piece is clearly getting what it demands, neither more nor less, and the results are completely satisfying.
+Sabrina and Anjiuline I don't like excessively fast tempos either, and I don't entirely disagree with you, at least on principle. However, I still find this presentation quite acceptable. I feel that the tempo he uses somehow manages to make its point, without sounding too hectic or frenetically driven. Hint: think of early Beethoven rather than Mozart.
Looking back i can't believe I played that at my piano recital when I was 17... love it i have to relearn that piece... I should never have stop playing piano!!! Wonderful
Same.ive picked it back up at different points in my life. You never forget it. It comes back quicker than you think. I am 60 next year and still play.
Kuhlau would applaud this performance. This sonata is absolutely delightful to play. It is considered a late intermediate level so it is somewhat challenging but so much so. It lends itself to easy muscle memory which helps the player obtain the speed more easily.
This is amazing I have to say please don’t judge him because of his posture....he might look like he has a poor posture but I sincerely think a man at his age would have a posture like him and plus it’s not very nice.…his melody was perfect maybe I’ll just have to keep practice ☺️
Quanti ricordi!!!!!
Isn’t that just great, being 86 and playing this piece by heart with nimble fingers and lots of emotion ? Playing the piano each day keeps the doctor away !
I finally found the true original name of this piece for years I've been searching.. 😌 I first heard on a music game "O2Jam" only labelled to as "Sonatine 1" I'm digging so much on Mozart and I got a wrong search all along. 😂
I respect the hightness of this Interpeter and His choice of the piece. Of course He is Oriental and gives His calm interpretation. Instead, I am Italian and romantic and I would give a more touching version. Just my opinion. I am soecialized in Baroque Authors, which often were Italian... there is a BIG tradition. Anyway, THANKS FOR THE PRECIOUS LESSON... sa
Good example to show the teacher that you don't need body movement to play your piano well. Haha. My son played these pieces and I never know it could could sound so good. And he always complain about the use of body movement.
Lovely! For anyone struggling with the runs in the 1st movement, please watch Kuhlau Sonatina in C major - 1st movement - how to REALLY master the runs!
What measure(s) in particular? I struggle with measures 28 and 29. Fingering and timing have to be right. Long short short short and so on. I want to keep pausing when I go back to B, D, and G. I'm going over and over it to get it down. I'll do the same with the runs. I need to play some areas faster from what I'm hearing in this particular performance although speed is an individual thing. Not everyone can play at the same speed.
it's simple sonatina, however, the pianist - Mistsuru Nagai made this songs so different, such a beautiful expression
Zoi Ku , ok. Immitensu Lokabya
Zoi Ku , agreed
Simple!! As everything difficult things!🙏
He has joy in heart 💓 and music in hand ✋ 😊

I never know this is such a beautiful piece when I was practice it...
This guy has such beautiful playing. His scales are so evenly played.

Aaaaannndd back to practising half as fast as that.

Thank you for the excellent demonstration! I now understand how much I need to improve.
Back some years ago, this was the piece that sparked my first love for classical piano music. What a reminder. Time to practise again...

Edit: Finished all 3 movements 6/3/2020
Started the 1st movement two weeks ago, 11/03/2020, any updates?
Feel blessed to hear such lovely music. A man and his piano is all it takes...thankyou Sir, I enjoyed hearing every note you played.

So precise. I played this piece when I was 10 and I could never play the fast parts like that. I always stumbled and missed notes, lol
