  • In the gorges of Olt, at an altitude of 650m, at the foot of the mountains covered with firs, lies the town of Băile Tușnad. The town located in the southern part of the Ciuc Depression, between the Harghita and Bodoc mountains, is the smallest spa resort in the country, being known until today as "Little Switzerland".
The most probable date for the foundation of the resort is 1842. The miraculous healing of a shepherd's son drew attention to the therapeutic effect of the mineral waters, after which a joint-stock company was founded to exploit the resort in 1845.
The subalpine climate, the strongly ozonated air, rich in aerosols and negative ions make the resort have a tonic bioclimate, favorable for mental comfort.
