Ferrari Purosangue is just another failure that only shows Ferrari wanted to jump in only because everyone makes SUV. It can't even perform as an SUV. my VW jetta is bigger
I have a 2023 Prius Prime XSE Premium, but without the solar roof, parking assist, or digital rear view mirror. My cost was $50K out the door by the time I got done paying taxes and fees and stuff. I got a phone holder that fits in the right-hand cup holder, and I power my phone via USB-C. So I have that sort-of available to me. I plug it in every night and start the morning with a full charge. My commute to work is 25 miles each way, LA freeway, and I start early to try to avoid the worst traffic. I can get all the way to work on battery alone, and I have plenty of pep for that trip. Coming home I can get about 10 miles through city streets to the toll road I like for the homeward trip, and then the engine kicks in for the actual freeway stuff, very nice. I love the dynamic cruise control with TrafficJamAssist, and the lane keeping is a nice bonus. My previous car was a 2008 Corolla with a manual transmission, I love the boost in power from the Prius and the fact that I no longer have to even worry about the throttle or brake, let alone shift. With my commute and charging I am getting about 100 mpg overall. My coffee mug is 52oz, does not fit in the cup holder. So in the passenger seat, held in by the seat belt, is a leveled piece of plywood with a huge cup holder and built-up storage/holder for the things I might want access to easily. It is also a handy place to drop things for a short time. Since I am almost always alone it just resided in the passenger seat, but if I *DO* have a passenger I can undo the seat belt and move my "shotgun caddy" to the rear. It's my car, I get to customize it for me. I took a trip to Tucson and on the way out I had the cruise control set at 90mph, I got 35mpg (calculated when I filled the tank, not the instruments.) On the way back I set cruise control for 76mph and got about 40 mph. It's still better than my old Corolla under ideal conditions, and I have WAY more power and style and comfort. The Prius cruises very nicely at speed, firmly on the road and not dancing in my lane.
Dang. EPA testing the MPG at 55 mph or something??? 40mpg is like the battery is barely there. But you did mention being in Tucson so maybe you had the AC on...? Good read and good comment sir. Thanks for sharing all that.
@@terrancecloverfield6791 The 40 mpg I got, on two sequential tanks of gas, at 76 mph, involved no battery power at all, it was ALL gas powered. In truth, it was far better than I would have expected in my old manual-transmission Corolla, with far less performance. Even as a gas-only car, this Prius rocks. After I was done with that trip I filled the tank to get the MPG and did not fill it again until a couple days ago. I am (unfortunately) unemployed now, and most driving is to and from the grocery store under battery power. Still, if I need to scoot from a light, go to HV mode, go to "Sport" mode, and punch it. I did that yesterday to get out in front so that I could move over to the right, but the hot dodge next to me saw me bolt and stomped on it to "beat me. That was cool, he left a large empty gap behind him and I was able to move over to where I wanted to be easily. But, after more than three months of driving, when I finally filled the tank, I had gone 1229 miles on 6.9 gallons of gas, for about 178 mpg. I like that. :) But I was thinking about being unemployed, and realizing that one stress I did not have was making a car payment, I paid cash for the car. I don't know what I would be doing if I needed to make payments.

My initial thought was go for a used Mustang (previous gen GT) while i still have my driving senses. I would only use it when i drive into work myself. Anyhow, i'm test driving the Prime today and might pit it against the Civic hybrid. I would consider the Tesla Model 3, but all those i know who have it love it and how much they save on gas, but they talk about the high insurance premiums and cost of tires, and that makes me think how much is actually being saved over a 25-30k years worth of driving.

Nice. One thing I can’t get an answer on is if you are on a trip, and use the 44 miles up, will it recharge itself for another 44 miles if you don’t plug it in and if you don’t have any regen because there is no traffic? How long will that take? Will you ever recover the 44 miles without plugging in? 💁♂️
First the battery never drops to 0. Below a threshold charge level (level > 0%), engine will start and charge the battery to a certain level (likely less than 30%) and then go back to hybrid/ev mode previously set. Electric power is part of the overall powertrain and such setting would allow the car to always have full power when you floor it. There is also a dedicated charge mode that uses the engine to charge the battery to a higher level (80% on last gen). Also on less demanding scenarios (e.g. steady highway cruising uses < 40hp), the engine will power the wheels *and* charge the battery at the same time.

Pricing for the Prime is very location sensitive. We just got a nicely appointed Prime LE for under $ 40,000 CAD. Take off the $5,000 in rebates and at less than $35,000 CAD, that's not an unexpected cost (made more palatable when you add in the trade in value of the old Prius C which returned 50% of its original cost from12 years ago). I checked some UK pricing for the 2024 XKE, Mid level trim unit online. It goes for 40,000 British Pounds. Check the currency rates against the Canadian Doller vs Stirling currently. That puts an XLE at just under $ 70,000 CAD !
Well the world is having tougher weather cycles, it floods and snows, the SUV gives people a little bit more confidence that they can make it through some torrential rain or snow fall.
Ok, go price a Prime XLE (Mid level trim), in The UK. It runs 40,000 British Pounds. Check the current exchange rates why don't you. That translates to just under $70,000 CAD.

But why are you countering your own point; when you say u saw it 2 years ago in a dark room. Then why is it you are reviewing it 1.5 years (almost) after its release.
NX starts at 47k and premium is 50k+ and it gives 25mpg on average and it needs premium gas. Prius is Plug in with 46 miles electric range and 45mpg on Hybrid. No comparison at all.
@@artieartya The new NX starts at 47k in the US, check the prices. Hybrids matters, they are in high demand, there is 6 months to 1 year waiting time for some of the hybrids and plug in hybrids. Prius hybrids give more than twice the mpgs of Lexus NX with normal gas, that's a huge thing which you might not care about. Also, the resale values, prius holds the highest resale values.
I used to say this is the best and most cost effective option for fuel and you dont need to go EV. But now at 42k? LOLLL yea cant defend it anymore. Just get the cheaper Tesla Model 3.
Lets don't forget; The Prime arrives with an onboard 115 VAC charger as standard OEM. Buying a Tesla involves you forking out another $ 3,000+ for a level 2 standalone charger (plus install costs). Where we live with rebates and the lack of needing a level 2 charger lowers the initial cost by almost 10 grand. We pay nearly $ 7.00 CAD a gallon for fuel here. In a few years we'll be ahead by a wide margin with our Prime.
I still think that’s one of the ugliest steering wheels in any car today. It’s like the Toyota engineers challenged each other to make the ugliest thing they could dream up. It’s something I could overlook eventually, but I’d hate it every time I look at it again.
42k😂😂😂😂😂 Wtfffff I’d pay 22k 😂 Better off with Corolla xse 14k cheaper You’d have to put a million miles on your car for it to be worth it in savings 😂😂😂 Some people suck at math 😂 Do away with the Prius You have a Corolla you can make hatch and already do and a Camry …
According to the Car care nuts ....do not relay only the electric power in this particular model....Because this is not a electric car, this is not a Tesla.
Its phev with 46miles electric range, heat and cold leather memory seats, rear driving cameras, 360 camera, premium audio and gives 45mpg average etc..and more than anything highest reliability and resale. Yes, In general I still feel the price is more but there is no other car with these features that comes less than 42k.
What sort of alternative are you looking at that provides 50+ MPG and EV capabilities as well as Toyota reliability? Every other car in this category is $10k+.
If they make the middle part slimmed out more looks pretty chunky and then get rid of the third spoke on the bottom so it’s just two spokes going horizontal. I think would clean it up really well.

I remember that being 4runner pricing way back😂 Oh how times have changed
Tint the windows and that Prius will look much cooler!
“did i put in the wrong whole.. that is possible”💀😂💀
Can’t forget about dealer markups
Well the world is having tougher weather cycles, it floods and snows, the SUV gives people a little bit more confidence that they can make it through some torrential rain or snow fall.
3:30 its so easy to get in and out of... you knowwwwww (u got the best references)
I tested drove one and it is easier to get in and out of than my 992. The PP is sure cheaper to run than a 992 as a daily commuter.
Cab forward windshield is a problem. Hard to judge distances.
$42k for a prius is wild
Ok, go price a Prime XLE (Mid level trim), in The UK. It runs 40,000 British Pounds. Check the current exchange rates why don't you. That translates to just under $70,000 CAD.
Okay someone needs to autocross the Prius, I need to know if it’s any good
everyday driver had a video where they took it to a track against gti, with equal tires
What's the wait time to get one, two years?
We waited 21 months for our Prius Prime........................yes. On delivery, the Rep mentioned if we'd ordered one the day we got the car the wait would be three years now. Jesus, Mary and Joseph. The long wait cost us another $5,000 dollars...........................
He almost found the second #HIDDENCOMPARTMENT under the window switches.
This and an ND Miata could make for a great 2 car garage…
Which part of Michigan is this ?
The part where no one works
I like this setup
Being opposite of sports car, this needs a flat-top steering wheel so people could see the speedo.
It can save too much gas so that charging outside is not even worthy anymore lol. The lv2 charging price here is like $0.3~0.5per kwh.
I guarantee that Millennials designed that car... because we're almost in our 40s now, lol.
Shhh do not say that
I'm 30 and I'm a millennial
The larger tire that’s how they’re getting away with an increase in zero 60. But I’d rather have 17 inches on this car.
I'm starting to like it and i hate that😅
This has more hp than my 04’ GTI did!
Michigan - The land of plentiful tires.
No rear air vents for 40k is wild
Who cares about rear seat passengers?
@@Love2Cruise for road trips? If you have a family?
@@shadykrook987 I doubt any families that can afford a $42k car will be travelling together in a non-SUV/CUV.
@@Love2Cruisenahh man he’s right that’s pretty rough they couldn’t even include that🤣
nah he's right though. Heated seats but no air vents is wild....But then agin i guess they figure since it's a smal cabin cool air will travel quick@@Love2Cruise
Hashtag I like it
This is the most economical car for the average commuter.
It I was 5’6” and weighed 140 pounds I’d be down
But why are you countering your own point; when you say u saw it 2 years ago in a dark room. Then why is it you are reviewing it 1.5 years (almost) after its release.
If they gave it the rav4 prime power train I'd get one immediately
GR Prius? 👀 and some wider tires and better brakes.
42k for a prius is crazy
42K!!! might as well just buy the NX Lexus. Plus, I’ll get my weekly free car wash and breakfast.
NX starts at 47k and premium is 50k+ and it gives 25mpg on average and it needs premium gas. Prius is Plug in with 46 miles electric range and 45mpg on Hybrid. No comparison at all.
@@Gopinathk17 wrong not in USA it starts at 40k. Base model. No argument on the whole hybrid thing I could give two hoots about. Lmao.
@@Gopinathk17 no you need to check. Lmao. I own an RX that started at 49K. Lmao. NX is 40k starting.
@@artieartyaEnjoy your Lexus!
42k?? thats CTR money
Different cars for different people.
Perfect car to do Uber and doordash
The design of the new Prius is indeed stunning, but the price is about the same as a Camry, which is very unhappy. After all, it is just a Prius.
$42K! I'd get a model 3 for that price and its faster and more premium.
21:22 Conan fan?
yes!
@@TopherDrives hell yeah!
it seems kinda noisy in electric only
The big wheels still bother me
Yeah, I’ll downgrade mine soon for 17 inch wheels. Not enough padding and they’re less economical. But I can’t lie, they look amazing on the car.
I used to say this is the best and most cost effective option for fuel and you dont need to go EV. But now at 42k? LOLLL yea cant defend it anymore. Just get the cheaper Tesla Model 3.
They start at $27k, the corolla hybrid is even cheaper
Lets don't forget; The Prime arrives with an onboard 115 VAC charger as standard OEM. Buying a Tesla involves you forking out another $ 3,000+ for a level 2 standalone charger (plus install costs). Where we live with rebates and the lack of needing a level 2 charger lowers the initial cost by almost 10 grand. We pay nearly $ 7.00 CAD a gallon for fuel here. In a few years we'll be ahead by a wide margin with our Prime.
They added the glossy piano black back... ugh
That car make's me feel claustrophobic😳
I'm not very happy with this car after my Prius Technology. 6,3l as a hybrid... Not economic at all.
$42k is a cartoonish price for a car of this size and tech...
for $42k I would probably get the new testla model 3 over this
You paid too much! MSRP $33k for a Prius Prime SE.
That's what I'm looking at
As a millennial, I'd blame the hashtag cringe on a Gen-X. Honestly it's borderline boomer nonsense 😂
this is a proper prius, i cannot believe how horrendous the design of ALL other generations
How TF is a Prius worth $42K?
I still think that’s one of the ugliest steering wheels in any car today. It’s like the Toyota engineers challenged each other to make the ugliest thing they could dream up. It’s something I could overlook eventually, but I’d hate it every time I look at it again.
42k😂😂😂😂😂
Wtfffff
I’d pay 22k 😂
Better off with Corolla xse 14k cheaper
You’d have to put a million miles on your car for it to be worth it in savings 😂😂😂
Some people suck at math 😂
Do away with the Prius
You have a Corolla you can make hatch and already do and a Camry …
Solar roof needs sunlight to generate power lol overcast, cloudy and ugly day
According to the Car care nuts ....do not relay only the electric power in this particular model....Because this is not a electric car, this is not a Tesla.
20k car at the most. Bottom of the parts bin in terms of quality
No it’s definitely nicer than a Corolla for example. Also what PHEV exists for $20,000?
Its phev with 46miles electric range, heat and cold leather memory seats, rear driving cameras, 360 camera, premium audio and gives 45mpg average etc..and more than anything highest reliability and resale. Yes, In general I still feel the price is more but there is no other car with these features that comes less than 42k.
Try building one for $20,000. Let’s see what you come up with.
Exactly. I want a Ferrari too. I think it is $100k at the most. That Rolex should be $2k at most too.
Weird car, I sat in one at the auto show and I don’t like the space.
Even on the front?
@@Gopinathk17 Yeah. I think I hit the ceiling and I’m not that tall.
You are wrong driving in B mode on the regular streets!you only stress the thermic engine and the ectv!its ok on downhill!Believe me!

42k for a prius, god help us
Its PhEV..go for normal hybrid you can get it for 32k.
They're really trying to push these higher car prices as normal. A base Prius should be 25k and perhaps 32k for this loaded prime.
@@Defy_Convention well, that’s not too far off from reality. The base Prius is $27k and the Prime can receive a $4,500 instant rebate.
My 992 “should” realistically be $70k. Yet it starts at $110k.
$42k for a prius is absurd.
What sort of alternative are you looking at that provides 50+ MPG and EV capabilities as well as Toyota reliability? Every other car in this category is $10k+.
Getting in and out uncomfortable.
Gunna be honest. Those rims are hideous
Amazing car but I just can't get over how ugly the steering wheel is
If they make the middle part slimmed out more looks pretty chunky and then get rid of the third spoke on the bottom so it’s just two spokes going horizontal. I think would clean it up really well.
Who hurt Toyota Prius?
