    This video is for asylum seekers whose cases in immigration court were dismissed. If you decide to continue seeking asylum after your immigration court case is dismissed, you can submit a new asylum application to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). After you submit your new asylum application to USCIS, you can apply for a work permit.
    *Learn what you can do after your case is dismissed: help.asylumadvocacy.org/after-dismissal/.
    *Read more about the decision to apply for asylum: help.asylumadvocacy.org/deciding-whether-to-apply-for-asylum-in-the-united-states/.
    *Find legal assistance: help.asylumadvocacy.org/find-help/.
    *For more information, visit the Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP)’s website at: help.asylumadvocacy.org/.
    This video does not apply to all asylum seekers. If you are already applying for asylum with USCIS or you still have an active immigration court case, this video does not apply to you.

    My mom had her immigration case dismissed by the immigration court on Aug. 01, 2023, but now she received a letter of deportation because she was a no-show, apparently, she had a hearing scheduled for April 17 of this year, but she never received a letter by mail. What can she do for her to not get deported?

      Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! That is a very unusual situation, because once an immigration court case is dismissed there should be no requirement to appear at future court hearings without being notified. We would strongly recommend seeking legal assistance from an experienced immigration lawyer. You can search for legal assistance in your area, including nonprofit organizations with free or low-cost lawyers, here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/find-help/.
      We also invite you to email us at and include images of documents from your mother's case through that private medium of communication, so that expert attorneys contracted by ASAP can review the situation more fully as well.

      Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! In that specific situation, where you have received an NTA but the EOIR (immigration court) system says that there is not yet any case for your A number, you can file your Form I-589 with USCIS, but you CANNOT file it online. To file form I-589, you must file paper Form I-589 with USCIS by mail.
      This online tool on the USCIS website can help you to confirm how to file for asylum in that specific situation: www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/form-i-589-filing-instructions-tool
      You can find more information about your options if your case does not yet appear in the EOIR system here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/faqs-immigration-court/#no-case-info
      And you can find more information about how and where to file your asylum application here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/faqs-asylum-application/

    So my girlfriends immigration case was dismissed she will no longer be deported. However she was told she would now be considered an illegal immigrant and could only change her immigrant status if she married an American resident or citizen.

    Our asylum case was dismissed before the immigration judge with PD, and we filed our employment authorization renewal application 3 months before the dismissal happened which is still being processed with the USCIS . Do you think we will still get our last work permit?

    • @asylumadvocacy
      @asylumadvocacy  9 місяців тому

      Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! In that situation, USCIS will only approve your work permit renewal if you decide to continue seeking asylum by filing a new asylum application with USCIS, and also provide USCIS with proof that you have re-filed your asylum application. You can find more information about your options in this situation here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/after-dismissal/#work-permit.

      Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! I am so sorry to hear that your work permit was denied. @asylumadvocacy  2 дні тому

      Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! If I understand your question correctly, your case was dismissed but your wife has a pending asylum case. You may be able to join as a derivative (included family member) on her case, but it may depend on whether her case is in immigration court and other factors. You can find more information about what family members can be derivatives on this ASAP webpage: help.asylumadvocacy.org/faqs-asylum-application/#family

    Hi sir, is it true apply asylum in Austjn, Texas having lowest rate of success? Thank you

    • @asylumadvocacy
      @asylumadvocacy  Рік тому

      @elisabeth1219 Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! We have not seen specific information that applicants for asylum in Texas have lower success rates, although it could be true. The Houston Asylum Office would decide the asylum application of someone living in Austin, TX who files for asylum with USCIS. People applying for asylum immigration court might have court in several different places in Texas including Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. Even within each office or court, some officers or judges may grant more asylum cases than others.

      Hello and thank you for this additional question. Yes, you can submit affidavits from your sister and your father about what happened. It is common that people seeking asylum may not be able to access many documents from the country that they had to leave in fear or danger.
