  • The nilgai, also known as the blue bull, is the largest Asian antelope and is native to the Indian subcontinent. These majestic creatures stand 1-1.5 meters (3.3-4.9 feet) at the shoulder, with males weighing 109-288 kilograms (240-635 pounds) and females being lighter at 100-213 kilograms (220-470 pounds). Their bluish-grey coat features white facial spots and a distinctive white patch on the throat. While only males possess horns, which are 15-24 centimeters (5.9-9.4 inches) long, both genders exhibit a timid and cautious demeanor when alarmed. Nilgai primarily feed on grasses and herbs, and their presence in India’s scrub forests and grassy plains adds to the rich biodiversity of the region.
There is a forest near our area and a river flows by the side. The river bed is almost dry. These animals live in this forest and venture into the river bed. They are very timid despite their majestic size. Shot this video there.
