Ercoupe Flight to The Bahamas 2013

- Highlights of my flight in a 1946 Ercoupe from Florida to The Bahamas, with stops at Marsh Harbour, Treasure Cay, North Eleuthera, and Nassau. Overnight stays at Treasure Cay Resort - The Abacos and Surfer's Haven Guesthouse - Eleuthera. Cockpit video captured with a Contour+2 HD camera at 720P / 60FPS. Inflatable rafts tend to be big and heavy, difficult to fit in an airplane this small, and are not required by regulation for this route. We wore FAA-approved airline-style inflatable life vests during the over water legs. Also had two additional Coast Guard approved water sports life jackets on board (The Bahamas requires a Coast Guard approved vest for each person). I highly recommend carrying a waterproof and buoyant 406MHz Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) as well.

Appreciate the comment, sorry for the slow reply. Typical cruise was 90 knots IAS. This Ercoupe is equipped with a Continental O-200 (100HP) installed via STC - really helps with climb performance!
This aircraft, in particular, is one that had a serious accident, correct? Sorry to hear that. It was beautiful. Glad you're okay.
