Wow! What a beautiful and unspoilt place to visit and enjoy. I wish I was young again but at 86, I don't think I would ever get a chance! The highest mountain I have ever been to was Emei Shan in Sichuan! Lucky you.

Does western Sichuan share the same rule of permit for foreigners?

No special permit required in Sichuan! That was kind of the reason I wanted to come here instead of Tibet where I believe we need to book a group tour to get in

“Xizang” literally means “western tibet”🤦🏻
The Tibetan Locals and the whole of China call it Xi Zang.
Tibet is an English name when the British try to invade tibet after invading India.
If you respect Tibetan culture, you should call it Xi zang
